  • "60 SECONDS" profiles the lives of skydivers in Dubai. Their lives are built around the love of the sky while experiencing the greatest adrenaline rush. Our cameras capture the exciting life of a skydiver. Exploring their passions and goals while showing the relationships they develop within the sport. To fully understand the love for what they do and the adventures they experience during.
    This was an exercise from my/our University to make a documentary. Was the first documentary I myself/and my team have ever done. We went in designing the documentary to be informative, yet also as a form of publicity. We wanted to shine a light on a different aspect of skydiving that is unique from the usual adrenaline junkie story. By the time you finished this piece we hope you learned something new, while feeling a bit more inspired to go give skydiving a shot yourself. You wont regret it.
    Songs in order of appearance:
    Pretty Lights - High School Art Class
    Mt Eden - (Imogen Heap remix) Let Go
    Pretty Lights - Finally Moving
    Gotye - Smoke And Mirrors
    The XX - Intro
    AWOLNATION - Sail
    KOAN - Meanwhile, In The Future
    Skydiving footage courteously supplied by Skydive Dubai.
    Special Thanks to:

    Just done my first tandem about 3 months ago. I’m 31 years old. From that first jump intended as just a bucket list check off has now became an obsession. I hope to go further with skydiving. Amazing little documentary, here. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it! ❤️

    This sums up what skydiving is all about. im almost 50 and just jumping 2 years, i know i can say 30 years to late but still did it and living for every 60 seconds again and again. In those 60 seconds you are skydiving and only skydiving. This weekend i will have my 100th jump and racing to the 300 to jump at your place guys. would be amazing to jump above the palm island. Thanks for the video. Fly save. Marc

      Nice congrats on the 100th jump! I regret waiting till my late 30s to skydive but better than never. Didn't know there was a 300 jump rule for Dubai. Good to know as it is my bucket list to jump there

    Excellent work on this video! Captures so much of what I know and feel about the sport, and although I know nothing about making movies, I LOVE watching movies, and this 11 minute documentary just flowed perfectly! Thank you so much for producing and publishing this video.

      +John Lawson I've just started, and the first thing my instructor said after my first solo jump was, if you are not willing to sacrifice the money and your time, don't skydive. Do it! I am also nervous but I am fully committed to it now and I don't regret it. Safe landings! :)

    Awesome video! I love the fact that they are all very passionate about skydiving. They are not in it for the fame, but because they love it. You don't get that from a lot of athletes.

      Glad you have been enjoying it. I created this back while in university myself, and it was the foundation of the rest of my career as a Director. The people that met and the stories that I hear on and off camera still inspire me to this day.

    To skydive is to fly to be inside the element, when you say "I flew in a plane" it's not the same that's like saying "I went swimming" when you saled on a ship

      +Sam Saiyan Not sure if they will count towards skydiving because if I'm correct, you use a round canopy? Don't think that counts here in the UK, not sure if the same is true in the US. Go to your local drop zone and they will help you out. Safe landings!

    this might be a stupid question, but why is the freebag on a reserve not attached to the canopy? as it would be expensive if you loose it

    • @gregbuckley7596
      @gregbuckley7596 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The reason is for added safety; the reserve is always second after the main has been cutaway, so in theory the main could get tangled with the reserve pilot chute. If that happens the main goes with the reserve free bag. This is actually very rare so it's just a precautionary part of the design.

  • @YouKnowThatGuySeth
    @YouKnowThatGuySeth  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd love to make it listed... but I'm waiting for permission from PR at Skydive Dubai. until then it has to stay unlisted. it's a shame i know.

    the free bag is not attatched so you get the cleanest deployment of the reserve possible id rather lose my free bag than my life i can buy another bag but not another life plus i can look for the bag on the ground rather than ppl look at the hole i made going in

    • @jbender5935
      @jbender5935 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      francis laugo when you pack a main parachute and you did not ensure the lines were in the center. one line was tossed over the main and due to the sq/ft of the chute it tossed him into a spin and was forced to cut away. a rather common error among new packers or complacent ones.

    • @ingeatle90

      that was fucking scaring... this shit happen usually ?

    • @TheHelioxide
      @TheHelioxide 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. in around 1 of 1000 jumps you have to pull the reserve parachute. And this one will open fine. ;)

      It was turbulence.

    • @michaelscott7874
      @michaelscott7874 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was at a swoop competition, Timmy was flying a Petra (I believe),I'm not sure if it was still in testing, if it was, it had to be really close to being released to the public. As he started initiating his turn, the canopy collapsed. I'm guessing due to the front riser pressure This actually happens so rarely, I've never seen it happen to anyone else in my 23 years being in the sport. Doesn't mean it hasn't, I just haven't seen it. When you are initiating your final high performance turn to swoop, you are low to the ground. He was using a sky hook system and that really helped him get his reserve over his head quickly. Very very scary, and extremely rare incidence. Being highly experienced, current and knowing your emergency procedures all helped him live safely through this very scary situation.
