Everything in this video is so very true! I was out of the sport for over 20 years and missed it all the time. I just bought new gear and have returned and I look forward to each time I can make it to the dropzone and truly love the skydiving community. I just turned 59 and I am keeping in shape and want to still be jumping when I am 80 or 90!!

Thanks Jonathan! That's exactly how I felt when I first started too! I was put on a lot of wind/weather holds, but it fascinated me how that didn't even keep people from coming out. It's funny, skydivers only share about 60 seconds actually jumping together... then there's 23 hours and 59 minutes in the rest of the day to talk about it! Good luck on your sky journey!

I recently started skydiving this year. I finish AFF in April and haven't been able to jump much due to weather this month. But I am at the dropzone every weekend. Skydiving changed my life. It is exactly how this video describes. From the moment I walked in the door I felt like one of them. I finally felt at home. This video is really awesome and is probably one of the best explanations I seen. Good job.

Thanks for posting! I broke my back paragliding five years ago and after I recovered I decided to never jump or fly again. But it never really left me and I found myself always thinks about it. Now as a dad and husband I have decided to go back to the dz. I have a very supportive and wonderful wife too. Can't wait to jump again:). I also miss the people from the dz. great bunch.

Beautiful piece. Spot on. I'm like the man brought to tears/inactive for 10 years (same here due to Fanny and Freddie and the rest of those banker scum bags). Fingers crossed, I'll make it back to the global DZ one day and if I'm lucky, Angels Falls, my Nirvana of Skydiving. It's been so long that I doubt if anyone remembers me but I remember you - thanks: Tyagarah/Oz, Eloy/AZ, Algarve, Headcorn/UK, Hibs/UK, Sibson/UK, Langer/UK, Bridlington/UK, and Cranfield/UK extinct but remembered/the round ol' days. Blue skies and peace 'n love to all. Miss it all sooooo much.

Scotty Carbone !! Legend .. I was arriving for the first time walking into the brand new DZ at skydive city 1990 in Zhills after a big way had opened up first time I ever saw him I looked up because I could hear someone/ him still in free fall he pulled so low I could see his jumpsuit was warning labels, his rig was warning labels and his canopy was one big warning label .. he had enough time for one hook turn into the manifest area where he bounced three times and dusted himself off..
Who the hell is that I asked .. oh that’s Scotty Carbone …

I've been wanting to skydive for about 2 years now. I said i was going to do it on my 30th birthday, but then guess what, i chicken shitted out. I didn't have the balls to do it.
4 days ago, i reserved a spot, paid for the tandem and now i'm going to be skydiving in less than 12 hours from now.
I wasn't scared at all for the past couple of days. But now, i'm nervous as hell lol. Wow i'm scared lol. But it's the fear that's driving me to do it.
I can't wait until tomorrow. It's going to be amazing. Wish me luck. Hopefully, in 24 hours from now, i'll be right back on this channel and tell ya'll how amazing it was. Wish me luck =)

***** Well. I'm alive and it's been over 6 weeks and another skydiver I knew died at my DZ last saturday. That's the second person I knew who died there.
But for the skydive myself...It was incredible. It was the most intense moment of my life. I can't describe the feeling, other than surreal. It felt like I was falling forever into nothing, nothing to hold on to, the wind is rushing by so fast.
But I'd do it again in a heartbeat.! Thanks for asking...

Mike Green congrats man good for you... im newly licensed skydiver only 32 jumps.. but if it makes you feel any better ive known people to get in car accidents and died to .. but i still get in my car and drive everyday.. there are a lot of variables to skydiving deaths , especially if your having more then one at the same DZ,,, equipment, bad packers, bad instructors, times of the year .. bad pilots...whatever. im 41 this year and wished i found this sport 20 years ago.. you can go at your own pace. i would just do your research for a reputable dz..

Very nice video! Why, though, did you leave the part in where Carbone says "we defy gravity" Sorry to leave a negative comment, but I spent a summer with him on my home DZ, not a Carbone fan at all. Again, well done video!

I would have to disagree with the statement that all skydivers are part of one big happy family based on the experiences at my dropzone. All the different disciplines in skydiving have made the skydiving family very disjointed. At my dropzone, free-flyers hang out over there, flat-flyers hang out over here and as for newbies - no one is going to waste a jump ticket jumping with you. Maybe things are different in Australia since our jump tickets are much more expensive ($45/jump).

    • @50buttfish
      @50buttfish 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yea, but when you get a bunch of single jumpers together to have FUN, it's called a garbage load. We had no purpose, we had no plan, we only jumped together for the thrill. IT'S FUN!

Every time that I dirt-dived a jump, I dirt-dived emergency procedures. Every time I threw my hand deploy, I would start to count. If I got to five, I started emergency procedures with looking behind me. Only happened once.
