My family and I lost a close friend that day. We visit his memorial here at my dad's office in Australia. I don't normally tell this story but. On September 11, 2001. Andrew was at work (in the twin towers). His wife called him, wanting to make dinner plans I'm pretty sure. They were on the phone. ***** I was 14 year old only just came out of hospital with broken tibia and fibia, stuck in a wheelchair thinking how the hell am i going to survive. I WAS IN ENGLAND, scared the crap out of everyone!
I remember coming home from school (little, 11 year old me), working on my homework when my brother rushes in and turns on our TV, because of what happened. I will never forget that day. Thanks for sharing your story Casey, greetings from Germany!
GiladPellaeon Same for me, I was in Italy, 10 years old, just finished lunch watching Dragon Ball on tv when braking news goes in. I don't have great memory for many past things, but that moment is still so vivid in my mind.
GiladPellaeon Same, I was 11. Was in a shop, buying some pencils after school, and heard something on the radio about the towers and didn't think anything of it. Then I got home and my brother was just standing, fixed to the news. Remember the horror of seeing the second plane hit and knowing it wasn't an accident.
I also remember it quite well. But my reaction was vastly different to others. I was 8 years old, came back from school and I was prepared to watch cartoons, dragon balls etc. But instead of cartoons, all I saw was that something happend somewhere, all the channels were showing the same thing. So I got really upset and turned off TV, because bothing interesting was showing. When I was that little I didn't really understood what was going on to add to that, I'm nowhere near America. I now really regret not watching it, back when it was live.
I was in Germany at the same time living in a military base. From that day forward living on a military base was never the same. I was in elementary school and once a month we had bomb threats, scariest childhood.
My teacher said she was only 10 years old when it happened. She lived in New York, she was in school when her teacher was told to go the hall. When her teacher came back she was crying and sweating, she balled up onto the ground and another teacher across the hall tried to comfort her. Her teacher said that her husband called, the scary part was her husband was a fire fighter and the last thing he said before hanging up was “I love you”. It’s so sad what happened that day. My heart goes out to people who lost loved ones.
I was 7 years old. In India, completely oblivious only hearing these tales of tragedy. I wish everyone a happy life, condolences over the person you lost. I feel really sorry.
My older brother was on flight 77 that crashed into the pentagon. He was a very good friend with the co pilot on flight 77. He’s gone now. I love him. It’s sad that people forget about flight 93 and 77. Mostly care about flight 175 and flight 11. I was in New York and I saw both planes crash into the towers. At that time I was like 5 yrs old
My mother was in the White House on September 11th and I was not born yet, if it were not for the passengers on Flight 93 I would not be here, I am forever grateful for what they did. I have lived a good live and have a great family who love and care for me. Those men and women on that flight are my heroes.
@@landondisalvio5361 I personally can not say anything, but from my mother's account of the event, they evacuated the White House while saying "another plane is coming for the White House. I've just heard stories.
+Ryan Jackson Yes RIP to the millions of people killed due to the actions Bush took against his own people. RIP to all the people around the world who were affected due to 9/11! It was a clear inside job, even an idiot can see that.
+Eatingtolive lemme guess, because jet fuel can't melt steel beams, right? while it is true that jet fuel exploding/burning cannot technically melt steel beams, it is a known fact that it can significantly reduce it's structural integrity. Believe what you want but you're just asking for an argument with that statement and I hardly think this is the time or the place. We've both voiced our opinions, let's just agree to disagree and not disrespect these tragic deaths with our bickering over who's right.
Oh the joy of ignorance! That's why the US as a whole is a huge epic fail!!! Only a handful of people know just how corrupt the governments of USA/UK are! These billionaires run the show and they elect the puppets e.g. Obama & Cameron to do as they say... 9/11 was an inside job, fact! Not opinion
I remember the day so clearly even though I was in London. I visited NYC less than 3 months later, and the thing I'll never forget was the thousands of missing persons posters all over downtown Manhattan. I've had a real affinity with New York ever since.
You're kidding, right? Citizens from 61 countries died that day, and the UK saw the highest number of victims after the US. It was a global attack in every sense.
Kevin Hickman Bro this account is shared with my roomates, [CollegeHome] this was from my friend Robert, who is extremrly autistic. Think before you type
At 6:24 I know you said pieces of bodies. That is something I couldn't even begin to fathom walking out and seeing on the street, just pieces of what once was multiple people just strewn about. The horror of that, I can't even imagine it...
sadly there are images of the attacks that depict all of these things. bodies of jumpers, pieces of flesh, anything, it's all available for us to view, which is sickening. that was somebody's life.
Did you know that there was going to be a wave 2 of 9/11...in Los angeles,California there is a large tower which is the u.s bank tower which would have been hit as the second wave but it was not hit thankfully
Casey is an artist, he knows what plays on our emotions. perfect example: The opening scene is of his wife's dog playing with a little toy dog, thats it, no music or anything over the top. so simple, yet the video is about the worst day in the 21st century for America. the contrast of having something so innocent and happy be followed by a story of horror leaving the audience with nothing to say is brilliant contrast. He has a fantastic talent, even when telling a story we have heard before, he finds new ways to tell it.
Thanks for sharing your experience Casey. I was grilling in MN and I remember being in awe watching the towers fall on TV. Blessings to you and your fam
@@knockeledup I dont know of you would understand this or not, but in america, sometimes people grill foods like certain meats, that may take hours to finish. So by the time the meats are done, the steakout begins!
@@firefighter_731 That sounds more like smoking or barbecuing than grilling! Grilling is to cook over a hot open fire so if you did that for hours you’d have lumps of char remaining. Barbecuing and grilling happen at a much lower temperature and can take hours to complete. I don’t know if you’d understand this or not, but sometimes in America we get specific about the way we cook our meats!

Casey, this was a great video, thank you for sharing your experience. We're about the same age (both 39). I was a military policeman who responded to the Pentagon on 9/11 and think that I sort of understand the feelings you had that day. My heart poured out to New Yorkers during that time. I was so busy during that time and sleeping so little, that it was several weeks before I could process what had occurred; when I finally did, it was not fun. What terrible times, but as you said, I also place great value on what I witnessed. Its part of who I am and made me value lives and other people much more. I enjoy your videos and your commentary. We come from completely different backgrounds and have very different viewpoints, but I greatly respect your tone and sincerety for people. Keep up the good work, my friend. Take care!
Great video, thank you so much for sharing. On Sept. 11th I was living in South Georgia, I was a pharmaceutical rep and I was 38 weeks pregnant. My partner and I were taking lunch to a cardiology group that day and we sat at the lunch with the doctors and nurses, just glued to the television, with our jaws gaped wide open and tears running down our faces, even the doctors. We did not personally know anyone that was in NYC, but we were just devastated and so incredibly sad for the people involved and their families. At about 1 that afternoon, the pharmaceutical company I was working for sent out a message nationwide for every rep to go home, they had a lot of reps in NYC and traveling and they needed to start doing a headcount to make sure everyone was home safe. I went and picked up my children early from school, I needed them right beside me that afternoon. My precious daughter was born 15 days later. I cannot imagine what it must have been like to actually have been right there when it was happening, I know you must have been terrified. You are very brave to share your story. Thank you!!
2021 September, 11 I still can’t believe that this day had happened 😭. And I thank every single first responders and firefighters and police officers who gave all their sacrifices I thank still to this day and to all the ones that didn’t make it out alive I hope every single one are Resting safe and sound in heaven. 🕊🕊
Man.. I'm 21 now and that day was super blurry for me. Because Im from DC and the pentagon was told to be another target, the whole city was in panic. I was scared and our school was immediately evacuated, I just remember feeling better when my parents picked me up from school. The day was grim and I just couldn't grasp at the time, of the true terror that was in the air.
Casey's story is so vivid, I come and watch this vlog every year on 9/11 ... I am so sorry for everyone's loss that day, and in the following period after that, from all 4 flights.
My dad was in a plane flying home from New York on that day because my brother was born and my mom was really nervous if my dad died😢but luckily he didn't ❤️
For everyone who lost a life to the horrid attacks of 9/11, im so sorry for all your losses! Who ever lost someone who was a first responder, they were true heros!! ❤️❤️
treeko 10k And there were a bunch of times the US realized they weren’t invincible. Vietnam war, coronavirus, early days of the Cold War, border protection, etc etc
my friends dad was in the north tower when the first plane hit. He is lucky to have made it out alive. and every year even though Ive seen the video a million times. I still cry when the towers both colapse
I was in 2nd grade when this happened. I remember the principal and everyone from the office going classroom to classroom talking to the teachers and having them explain to us what had happened. One of my friends left early from class bc her uncle had been in one of the towers. She didn’t come back until about a month later. It’s been years later and every year on this day I remember her and just how chilling it was going back home and seeing it on the news with my parents. This year, my cousin who is 14 and started high school said they had this in one of her history worksheets and asked me if I remember that day since she wasn’t born until 2004 I believe. It’s weird but interesting to see how kids now are learning about this in books or through word of mouth while I having been alive at the time saw the impact it had on a fellow friend.
I wasn’t born yet but my school in September after the 11th made a American flag mural were in Va yet they still tried to help and support any one who was affected
I was in 4th grade when it happened. I’ve had my nieces and nephews who weren’t born yet, asking about it because of their history classes talking about it. It’s interesting how you lived through it and experienced it, but there are people who didn’t and are learning about it now.
Erika Lopez ya in some odd way i wish i was alive during this awful time just to know how people who were alive felt bc all i hear is people and they account of the attack. i’ll never truly be able to understand the terror people felt on that day

I was feeding my one year old son breakfast on that day. A friend called me in a panic, asking if my tv was turned on. It was not. I don't think I moved from in front of the tv for HOURS. We both had daughters in the military at the time. I will never EVER forget.

One of my close relatives was killed in 9/11. His name was engraved into the memorial ( bless anyone who's relatives died during this time 💛) Edit: I made this comment 2 years ago and haven’t touched it since so I apologize responding this late, but in don’t really feel comfortable sharing his name. To clarify: by “close relative” I mean we were closely related, not close as in we talked a lot etc. My dad took me to see the memorial when I was a kid so I remember him saying that we were closely related and that he was a firefighter. I never met him, please leave it alone.
ButterCups :3 did you find his name take a pencil and rub it off on a piece of paper so you can see it that would be so cool if you found his name in the memorial
I remember that I had stayed home from school that day and my grandma was making me some eggs and bacon, while I was watching TV, it randomly switched to the news showing the towers and I saw that the north tower was on fire and yelled “Look grandma, building is on fire” and right when she came over to see, the second plane hit the south tower.
@Henry Brother it was on literally every station at that time when the second plane hit. anyone with a television near them seen the 2nd plane hit. this event completely took over everything in america. everyone huddled around tvs. some misguided people tried to attack muslim gas station owners. i have known a few muslim gas station owners. they are good men.

Sorry about these other people… your mother is so lucky to be here, I hope she’s okay, and I hope you are okay as well, as you had to hear the most terrifying thing from your mother..
I'm from Italy,a place very far from the USA. All the world was shocked about what happened in 11th 2001, but after have seen this video,I now know that what was communicated it wasn't strong enough to make people realize what it really was that day for the people of Manhattan. When Casey was talking at 6:25,when he made that cut, at first, because of my not perfectly trained listening skill of the english,I didn't realize what he said at first... so I replayed those last minutes, and when I realized what words he cut out,my heart skipped a beat. Going to a hospital during a large terror attack like this absolutely damn right stupid, and extremely selfish. Doctors and emergency personnel need the space to get people in ASAP. Having untrained civilians does nothing but take up valuable space and time. I call absolute BS that him and his brother went to a hospital to offer "help" when they're untrained and not doctors/paramedics. People, do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go to a hospital during an event like this. All you do is take up valuable space and time. Leave the professionals to do their jobs. It is NOT an opportunity for you to get some "good filming done". Seconds count when it comes to life and death and having some kids asking to "help" when they have no training is absolutely absurd. It makes me wonder if he realises just how moronic he sounded when he said that he went to a hospital to "help".
I’m a 20 year old, I was 11 months old when 9/11 happened. Even though I dont directly remember it happening ,kids my age were taught how extremely horrible and important that event was and the effect this event had on the world. Even though I can’t remember where I was when it happened , I can remember growing up and how patriotic things were . My biggest hope is that with the coming generations of kids that the education and the retelling of the importance of this event won’t be slowly swept under the rug with time.Currently watching this on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
My dad worked on the 96th floor of the North tower but didn't go to work that day since my sister was sick. That saved his life

Did her teacher's teacher's husband survive?
I don’t think he did. My teacher quickly moved on after that part.

+T Wecker I agree, but it wasn't Bush's actions or desitions, there were and there are more powerful people above him.
Not opinion
Only a handful? You have to be a fucking child to not see how rotten/corrupt almost every government is. You just put in other words what I wrote.

Johnny! Glad to seeing you do so well, and I’m happy to see you wearing that badge high and proud
You were grilling at 8am on a Tuesday morning?

Take care!
Thank you for your bravery and helping people all the time and during 9/11 i respect you and look up to you.

Thank you for your service Sean.
Thank you!!

Well they did hit the pentagon there where 4 planes 2 hit the twin towers 1 hit the pentagon and 1 crashed that was headed for the white house

There's so much evidence that it was an inside job and I actually believe it.
it was headed to the white house but crashed in pensylvania
It crashed in a random field because the passengers overpowered the terrorists and crashed the plane to prevent anything else from happening.

Wow
I wasn’t born yet but my school in September after the 11th made a American flag mural were in Va yet they still tried to help and support any one who was affected

I was born in 2006 my teachers would get really quiet and talk about it to us on September 11 every year since kindergarten

My cousin lost her life that day. She wasn’t even supposed to be there that day, but they called her in for a job interview a day early (it was supposed to be the day after). Honestly sorry for all of your losses, and for all those people who lost their lives that day.
That was good for you and good for me
@@QuarioQuario54321 that is so rude

You did a good thing going to the hospital to help the injured people
Have you been hiding cameras all over the city So when you run past them you get a cool shoot?

here’s my guess, i think he puts his camera somewhere, presses record, runs out of the frame, then passes it and presses stop. then when he edits it he trims it. but that’s my crazy ass assumption

I can’t imagine seeing people fall that would be so scary. If this is to personal you don’t have to answer but did she get counseling

“People are going to need help, let’s go” that shows what a good person Casey is
Going to a hospital during a large terror attack like this absolutely damn right stupid, and extremely selfish.
