I had mine for 2 yrs now with no issue and i love it (2018 honda pilot). When DirtCom first came out, I did wait about 9 months to get mine. They didn't have the HD version back then. My powder coating was good. No rust. Seems like the newer HD version was rushed hence the paint chip and rust. Sorry you have to deal with that. I would call them and send them photos and complain. Because $2k is a lot of money. I got mine for $1800(non HD). Their customer service has been good to me. My wedge broke and they sent me a new one. My front runner table bolt broke and they also sent me new hardware for free. Call them again. Good luck 👍🏽
Thanks man, I appreciate the input. I did call and emailed them the picture and videos i took, basically I was told I have to send it back on my dime, from east coast to west coast, that is a lot of work and money to get the bulky piece shipped. So I have been accepting the fact that their powder coating sucks, and been diligently spraying rust convertor and bedliner each year.
@@aronc221 I think I'm at 11 or 12 wks (almost 3 months). Advertised lead time was 10wks. I couldn't get a reply from seller till PayPal reminded me that the window to get refunded was almost up and I contacted them through PayPal. They asked for more (unspecified) time. I lost all my cash waiting for rock sliders from a company that fell through. They also had a lead time + I was away for military training. Got back. No parts. Contacted seller - no answer (x3). PayPal said it was out of the 180 day window so sucks to suck. Bank said it's not fraud so sucks to suck.
@@aronc221 I really like the company and am trying to support them n be patient but I'm also not trying to make the same mistake twice. I communicated the delay to Paypal and asked if I can extend the 180 day window for refund.
$2k for this is way too much for what it is. Seems like $3k and change for an expedition one dual swing is a much better deal since you’ll get a rear bumper as well. Makes me wanna build one myself if I have the spare time. It’s crazy how they charge so much for these things now.
Yea. I was debating between this and the expedition one bumper. I mean it’s still 1k more and weighs another 100 more pounds. And it is irreversible modification compared to a tire carrier so I still ended up got the tire carrier.
The trail swing is total garbage. Stay away! If you are waiting on an order call and cancel. They are way behind and after 5 months I just received mine missing a bunch of pieces and all scratch ed up. When I emailed them with pictures of the damage, this was there response........ "Sorry to see your Trail Swing in that condition. We have had instances before that the Trail Swing has been mishandled by UPS. We have a few options for you to get this resolved. (1)You can send a claim for the Trail Swing to UPS for replacement of the Trail Swing. That usually involves you making the claim and UPS requesting pictures and a possible inspection of the unit and the box that it was transported in the time that they take to do this may take weeks to months for the process to go through. (2) We could replace the Trail Swing if you pay shipping for the return of the unit and shipping for the replacement. (3) Based on what we are seeing the damage is mostly to parts that are replaceable and to the powder coating that is also fixable. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the functionality of the Trail Swing. We could ship you the replacement parts (including the 2 hole collar) and you could take it to a powder coater and have it repaired. at which point we will refund you $100 for the cost of the repair." Let us know and thanks again Lloyd Becca Dirtcom Inc (909) 929-9732
ahh, that seems to be similar with the response I got from them, basically I had to pay to ship it back across country, and that is not acceptable to me.
@@4WDisLife How convenient for them it must be knowing that no one is going to ship one of these back. Without having a commercial shipping account, the freight charges would be hundreds of dollars.
Thanks for saving me some money. $2k is an unacceptable amount of money to pay considering some of the quality control issues you experienced. For comparison, Baseline Overland will sell you a complete replacement bumper with dual swing outs for $3k. Yes it’s expensive, but so is $2k for something with problems.
Which daily driver (for a family of 4) do you feel is the most capable offroader? Tundra, Sequoia, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Bronco, etc? All generations applicable, though cheaper is better.
Was going to consider this one due to a higher clearance, but with quality issues and living far from California I’ll avoid and recommend avoiding to our local 4Runner group. Back to Wilco, RIGd and SSO.
The manufacturer is messing up big time not taking care of your powder coating issue. I bet they have lost far more in sales from the negative reviews than the money they saved not fixing your powder coating and paying for the shipping.
Thanks for the review. Like yourself, I would expect better powder coating. Considering the cost, they would benefit by reviewing their business model.
Thanks for the video…that is a CRAZY amount of money for such poor powder coating! They definitely should reimburse you somehow (especially with the advertising).
Yea man. For the money you’d think everything is top notch, including the finishing, when I called they said they could offer me a free re-finish but I’d have to pay to ship the carrier back to California, after all the work installing it
I have read nothing but how poor their coatings and welds are, just bad quality and they are sticking customers with the costs if they want to get it fixed.
How do you justify the nearly $2k price tag especially when you own a pick up truck and can toss that spare in the bed and save $2k? Isn't this just a hipster vanity plate at this price?
@@4WDisLife Camping set up? You just have to stop by one of those "non-profits" and they will give you as many tents, sleeping bags, and air mattresses as you want, why camp in the bed of a truck?

I’d say 4runner if the price matters and Land Cruiser or bronco if price doesn’t matter.
