    Fantastic, Nev ! Congratulations! And don't apologize about "...too much footage of a guy flying around having fun...." That is EXACTLY what we (or at least, I) need to see as motivation to get back in the shop. Your commentary and observations are really interesting and informative. I'm especially looking forward to the stall series testing and then the VG testing. I'm building an A model, but the delta between non-VG and VG should be roughly equivalent between the two wings. Great job!

    What a satisfying conclusion to a 15-month effort! I just looked at the first video again (September 2020), about seat pans. It was hard to imagine, back then, that it would take barely a bit over a year to get it actually flying, all that in the middle of the pandemic!
    As much as this is a testament to your excellent workmanship, skills and time management, it also says a lot about the Bearhawk kits, which seem really complete, well documented and buildable. What a delightful Christmas present for yourself! Congratulations!

    I work my CG the same way in the Maule M5-235C. I keep it right on the front leading-edge, that way I get max utility when I want to carry a heavy load in the back. I've started experimenting with flying with 60 lbs of ballast in the aft cargo as well, but the plane still seems to perform well, even on backcountry strips, with a forward CG. Nice job on the build.

    Love the video and the plane. Nice job. PLEASE hold the stick back all the way in a tailwheel when starting the engine. Pinch it between your legs if you have to. I’ve seen a few mishaps when you are hard on the brakes with a little too much throttle. You must have a small fortune in that beautiful fan blade and engine. It would be a shame to doynk it!

    Do you enjoy having your knee's pushing against the instrument panel the entire time you're flying your plane ?

    • @bearhawkblog3527
      @bearhawkblog3527  ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't seem to be an issue, with the seat at mid position my knees clear the panel easily. Some builders mount the engine controls below the panel - that can put them in the way of knees but I elected to put them on the main panel.

    you should beable to land at 45-50 knots if not slower.

    • @bearhawkblog3527
      @bearhawkblog3527  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep at light weights it's landing consistently at 42kts. I use 50kts for approach speed.

  • @chaddthompson

    • @bearhawkblog3527
      @bearhawkblog3527  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How are you fixing the vortex generators to the wing surface?
    * Why (reduction of about 3 Kts in stall speed)?
    🌏🇦🇺

    • @bearhawkblog3527
      @bearhawkblog3527  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are fixed with a double sided tape, very secure. Yes the reduction in stall speed power on is small, but the increase in control and stability is large. No tendency to drop a wing and only a small nose drop. Recovery is by increasing power. Overall very pleased. I've got some footage of testing the VGs now which I'll add soon. Thanks.
