Thanks for your inspirational podcast. I am a former worship leader who came out late in life...a few months ago. It has been a challenging time as the baggage of the past, the stress of the present and the uncertainty of the future all collide.
This episode hit so close to home. My uncle is a pastor, my parents were deacons, and I was a minister and praise and worship leader. At the age of 10/11 I knew that I liked boys but also knew that it was a no-no. So I told myself it’ll go away. If I keep praying and getting more involved in church, read the Bible, pray and fast that this would go away. And I didn’t realize that the compartmentalization kind split me into two people. I knew how to shout, talk that good Christian talk and play like I was okay but during the week I would try to quell the growing attraction I had to men. Fasting, praying, weeping, Bible reading. The more I did those “religious” works the more I thought I could push this attraction down enough to get married to a woman, eventually have kids but most importantly, be right with God. This was going to be the one thing that if I didn’t beat this I was gonna bust hell wide open when I closed my eyes on this side. The most powerful thing that she and the last interviewer said is how they trusted people more than the voice or God in their own life. And that was the beginning of stopping this roller coaster. I had begun to learn the true voice of God in my life. And all the turmoil that came with stifling my attraction came to a halt when I heard God speak so clear to me. Had I not had a period of seeking God earnestly and being desperate to hear him 5 years ago, I would’ve wrote off God the voice I heard very clearly speak about my love life! The fact that God is okay with me loving who I love is slowly sinking in my spirit and my flesh after decades of being told otherwise. But the greatest gift out of all this is me knowing God FOR MYSELF and not depending on what others have to say about me. Their accusing voices sound nothing like the mountainous peaceful voice that is the God of the Universe! Bomb ass interview!!! Keep ‘em coming

the best way to get rid of Christian hate is Buddhism, it'll teach you to be free from all the hate and if everyone practised it there would be world peace within one generation
Love this podcasts and love these peeps! However as a queer Disney adult let’s not make fun of people for being them in other areas. Like I don’t take it to heart anymore but someone once made fun of me for that and it made me feel so bad for liking what brings me joy ✨ now I know better but still let people be no judgement zone (unless it hurts another being)
The theme of Romans 1 is idolatry, worshipping the created over the creator. The actions in this chapter are about practices related to idol worship. It condemns lustful same sex behaviour in relation to this worship. This doesn't necessarily mean that all same sex relationships are wrong in the same way that if you read a verse saying men lusting after women was evil it wouldn't mean all straight relationships are wrong
@@spoonsandspades verses 26 and 27 are clear. 1 Corinthians 6:9 is also clear. I'm not saying that anyone that practices homosexuality is any more guilty of sin than anyone else. But the verses are very clear that God defines sex with the same sex as sin, not only that but there is punishment for it.

Romans 1:26-27 cannot be read without reading Romans 1:23-25 It’s talking about people that worship idols that are being given over to the shameful lusts. Also if you haven’t done the work of understanding the context of what was going on in the culture during the time the word was given and how the word is relevant today you are sorely unqualified to speak to it. If you’re gonna do that then I can just as easily say that American should’ve never fought slavery. The Bible endorses slavery in several places. So I should be able to round up some people, enslave them and then tell them the Bible says it’s ok, so be okay with that!

If you can’t do the text justice by putting verses in context you’re woefully unqualified to speak on it. Come on buddy…let’s see you do your homework! And also when did slavery become impermissible? If it’s in the Bible then it’s permissible. That’s the logic that you’re using with homosexuality. The Bible says it, therefore it must be true and okay to use against people. Same thing I could say about slavery. Slavery was here in America hundreds of years ago. Slave holders used the Bible to say that slavery was permissible. There were verses that endorsed it. So with your logic I should be okay that my ancestors were enslaved because there were multiple verses that endorsed slavery…….so God must’ve been okay with it

What about Romans 1? Christianity doesnt seem to be compatible with a homosexual lifestyle.
