skip to 1:30, that's when the interview actually starts. man, i don't miss tv. they waste soo much time telling you what's "coming up." and then the intro they give him is so sad. they made Data sound miserable. sure, he wanted to be human, but he was a highly-regarded, very successful Starfleet officer. he had many awards, friends, romance, hobbies, his pet kitty. Picard fought for Data's right to be treated as a living being. he had a good life.
They should have put data between two bulkheads on the recut series and have the crew show how little they really cared about data's rights as they walk by and he asks for help through the walls.
You know Star Trek The Next Generation is still the best idea of what the future can be that has come out on TV or in movies. People with Morals, Ethics and a purpose to do go out there. Not the Military Industrial Complex's idea to create war and profit. If the future was half a good as Next Gen then we have something to look forward to.
Problem is, in the ST universe, humanity has grown beyond greed. I don't think this trait will ever be bred out of humanity. Greed is the motivator for the MIC and the most base reason for all wars.
In Star Trek they have replicators to make anything from energy, I can see why ST humans are less greedy. So if tech is always improving, then the potential is there irl.
i notice all these awkward questions that she is asking Brent, and stating that he isn't a sci-fi fan and the last cast member to sign on to the movie. are they trying to destroy his chances after only just leaving star trek, why is she trying to make it as uncomfortable as possible, shows how great Brent is, remained cool as a cucumber and answered honestly for each stupid question, todays actors would have walked out on those
+Imaanyi young? In 1994 he was already 45 years old (born 1949). Older than me today, an still 2 months older than my father. But the video quality is so bad that you can't see his white hairs very good. But ok, compared to today he was young, true. ^^ But who thought, that this Data that we seen in the first TNG Episode is already 38 years old? I thought he is max. around 30.
45 IS young! And 1994 was 22 years ago, a time where babies become grown ups. So yes, I know what I'm talking about when I say he was young. My father is already 77 and still knows how to have fun like a child. Same with my brother and me, and we're both in our late 30's. So my definition about age probably is a bit different to yours. If you want to declare yourself as "old", it's your good right. For me, calling people "old" starts at maybe 65 to 70. And Brent Spiner looked a lot younger than he actually was, indeed. =)
Yeah, we have a different definition about age, my definition is more in form of the lifespan, not the age of the mind itself. When I watch for example younger interviews with Patrick Stewart, than he is younger in his mind than myself, but in his lifespan he is (sadly) "very" old. *sadly because he is my favorite Actor and my "the one people in your life that you want to meet and talk with".
Imaanyi -- I remember 1994 so well. It was a helluva year, wasn't it? Life was so much simpler then, too. I truly miss it. Join me, and we will go back to that magical time together!
I can't believe it has been 7 years since 2004 and that was a decade after this... First Contact and even Generations seem like they were in theaters only yesterday. Brent looks so young.
Spiner is such a troll of the comedic type. Being a coworker of his must have been great. I’d be like ugh is he gonna get me today or is it gonna be someone else? I bet he played practical jokes often, but as a guy who plays a character who doesn’t understand humour he probably understands humour better than anyone else in the cast. Watching the bloopers of TNG I wonder how they got any work done.
This must be the cutest interview I've ever seen of Brent:) Look at the way he smiles all the time; with a twinkle in his eyes. I love his hair; is there a touch of gray? Or does it appear to be gray? It looks very distinguished anyway. He sure is handsome and very sexy:D
He is sexy, even when he's trying to answer the questions that they're not giving him enough time to answer! Even through all that he still remains hot! He is still my favorite actor! ❤ WE LOVE YOU BRENT SPINER!!💋❤
I love his eyes and his hair. He is so beautiful and so attractive, it makes my whole body tremble. Too bad the quality of the video isn't that great.:(
That lady must have watched All Good Things & got his rank wrong because Data was never a Lieutenant! He was a Lieutenant Commander. The glitch in All Good Things was he was wearing a Lt uniform in the flashback scenes to Farpoint.
Imagine getting 8, 9 or 10+ seasons of TNG... just the mere thought gives me goosebumps. It could have gone on for a long time... even Voyager got 7 seasons.. I think they should never have made Voyager and used their resources and ideas on TNG instead.. as for Deep Space Nine it was a better than Voyager, but I could never really get into it and I think they should have used the best stuff and ideas from that show and continued TNG instead.
around 2:20 Spiner: yep, but I am not actually brent spiner... I am an android built by mr. spiner. You could say i'm the son of star trek... my real name is actually data. Lady: what the hell is this?! Get off of my show! Right then Data reveales he's actually Lore and deals with the shows security pretty quickly, taking the host hostage... until "whomever or whatever you are, I want you to stop it"... picard moves in to the rescue.
Yeah, the series should have gotten a better finale (neither All Good Things or Nemesis did). Some of the movies were good and it was better than nothing, but I'd rather just have one more season of the tv-show than the movies. The movies felt more like a consolation price. cancelling the show at the height of it's popularity to make the movies was a mistake in every day and the success never translated very well to the theatres.. and the show could easily have gone on for several more seasons.
@samauripizzacats101 Why not? You miss good movies and are sad it is all over right? I.e. I doubt we will see another Star Trek movie... Nemesis was probably it... CBS owns the franchise NOT Paramount, and even Enterprise is now off the air... for the first time in forever there is NOTHING. Even Star Trek the Experience closed in Vegas... *me* weeps a teer.
He should have said "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow" or is that too Doctor Who for every body? certainly the non nerds who tuned in to the show.
That comment is confusing to me, 90s television was terrible wasnt it? Maybe I am spoiled since I only watch the best shows when I want, as many episodes in a row that I want and with no commercials.
If you ask me, quality of TV shows were quite a lot better in many ways - same with the 80's. TV shows these days try to focus too much on mass market which makes most of them just so dull. Stuff like Breaking Bad really is an exception. Although the past few years, things have been improving with stuff like Netflix pumping out series that wouldn't get syndicated otherwise.
I can never work out why they didn't do more TNG movies. Only three seems like selling it short but maybe the demand wasn't there so much as it was for the Star Trek TOS cast? They certainly never took DS9 or Voyager to the big screen though Jayneway made a cameo appearance in First Contact or Insurection, I forget which
Yeah, sadly I think you're right. Unfortunately I think television is changing in such a way that shows like Star Trek and a lot of TV from the 80's and 90's wouldn't get made now cause it wouldn't get enough of an audience. Entertainment seems to be in a bit of a transitional period where no one medium is dominant and the old ways I grew up with are going out of fashion. Who knows what's going to be the big thing in 10 / 20 years time.
Data was a bit of an arse hole with the emotion chip in Generations, with the possible exception of the "Ohhhh Shit" moment when Enterprise crashes. Fortunately it's less of a dramatic tool in Firs Contact and Insurection.
I love how the first 75 seconds of this is just the show announcing him in various ways
Make that 140.

Thanks.
thank you Buddy
You don't trick me. Lore
LOL
he's slick
lol haha XD
Lore pretending to be Brent Spiner ... nice try.
Or is it... Soong? Noonian?
Cold Equations ftw. Great trilogy.
My left ear enjoyed this video.
My left testicular appendage performed in an acceptable manner during this video
I only ever listen to videos with my left earphone so it sounded normal to me.
hahahhaa me too
The right side of my brain noticed
Man, Good morning America was terrible at giving interviews back then.
+jdestef
Lucky us we have Fox news, today!
Oh, wait...
They still are
At least the hosts were heterosexual.
Will she ever let him answer? You can see there was so much more he wanted to say but the morning tv show format wouldn't allow it.
Nermin Kekic, I can't stand ths British accent, it sounds phony.

If the future IS half as good. “Was” means it already happened.
In this interview, he reminds me so much of his character "Lore". So much like "Data", just sassier. Lol

I don't remember 1994 looking so much like shit...
The TNG episodes look so ultra modern compared to the tv appearances from the cast from the same time.
ya same here, I remember me looking like shit, but I thought TV looked cool,
It called VHS tapes.
My left ear really enjoyed this.
He was so young...and a good looking man as well. Just that interview was rubbish. Poor Mr. Spiner. ^^
+Imaanyi young? In 1994 he was already 45 years old (born 1949). Older than me today, an still 2 months older than my father. But the video quality is so bad that you can't see his white hairs very good. But ok, compared to today he was young, true. ^^

he makes my heart pound
He makes the left side of the heart pound

You posted this 11 years ago.
I wouldn't be able to bite my tongue as well if a woman relegated my acting career to gold powder on live television.

Good ol' 90's.
Life was simpler and easier back then.
@@rake483 Perhaps in some ways. Every generation has their eases and difficulties.
I couldn't tolerate the American morning TV long enough to see Brent

wow the times have changed....
I love his eyes and his hair. He is so beautiful and so attractive, it makes my whole body tremble.
Too bad the quality of the video isn't that great.:(
Relax. He ain't all that.
@OfficialTribe sure is a shame. while TNG was a great show it kinda ruined some of the actors possible careers.
Brent Spiner seemed a little tired of the whole press junket thing...must have been the last leg.
let the man talk!
Wow, time moves quickly.
Good looking fellow in reality
They paid this woman to interview people? That was bloody awful!
Star Trek made the 90s look good. Just look at GMA....yuck
such a watse brent spinner is exceptional and completely wasted with what they give him. Hes a classical actor with exceptional talent
Typically lousy interviewer.
That lady must have watched All Good Things & got his rank wrong because Data was never a Lieutenant! He was a Lieutenant Commander. The glitch in All Good Things was he was wearing a Lt uniform in the flashback scenes to Farpoint.
Scenes of Farpoint. She probably just though she could abbreviate it without knowing that makes it a completely different rank.
I'd recognise his smile anywhere though.
"When you talk to them, don't act like the show is well accepted by people who get it - they aren't ready for that."
My left ear enjoyed this
Best Science fiction tv show of all time, but I do like Voyager, ds9, Enterprise, and Discovery..of course the Original series, but TNG the best
What an amazingly in-depth interview. I really learned so much!
There are many more good shows now. Look at HBO. Time tends to filter the bullshit out. Tv of the 90s was mostly horrible like now :p
My God! ... He looks just like Data!!
Neil Vance, well, what did you expect?
He sounds just like data too!
Awwww you got mad.So cute. Are you gonna cry , do you wish me to call you mommy , she is here.In my BED.
u aint lieing, thats why i got netflix, i dont even watch main stream any more, its no tv, just garbage
around 2:20 Spiner: yep, but I am not actually brent spiner... I am an android built by mr. spiner. You could say i'm the son of star trek... my real name is actually data. 1:19 there I just saved you one minute of your life you'll never get back.

You know Brent Spiner could barely tolerate this interview based on his android cold responses. They clearly know nothing about the substance.
He should have said "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow" or is that too Doctor Who for every body? certainly the non nerds who tuned in to the show.
God she was obnoxious but he was lovely as usual. And goodness gracious he looks SO handsome 😳😍💕
What I loved about generations was that both new and old were in same film. I just wished they hadn't killed kirk off tho
Soooo....that first minute or so wasn't necessary at all....
Yeah and they didn't have to kill Data. Even if they didn't make those movies he still shouldn't have died.
A week from this Wednesday it will be Wednesday the 16th!
Yeah, how come Tasha Yar got murdered when there was ripe young meat like Wesley in the offering!
She misses the profile joke. Brent Spiner looks great here. What a cute sexy man! What a smile!
_I never said all actors are cattle; what I said was all actors should be treated like cattle._

Naw...just wishing I had a good sniper rifle with a light crosswind...Later troll! lol
The Incident that caused Brent Spiner's career to get flushed down the toilet of course!
The sound isnt working on this video but it does for all other TH-cam vids. What's up?
Sorry, I meant 5 ST:TFF The one Shatner directed.
LOL he said "reversing polarity"!!!!!!1 .. wilw would be totally all over it ^^
She didn't get most of his jokes. This was hilarious.
So it could have been worse? Eg, a Christian interviewing "a jew." ooooooooooh
right earphone want to be with left speaker, there will be no relationship.
If only Star Trek Generations hadn't sucked so hard.
Interviewer doesn't seem to know who Data is
they should have continued the tv-series instead of making those movies.
@NETWizzJbirk please don't remind me about first contact and generations
@vintagevideogamegeek Yeah I kno RIGHT? The Lens of Time and all...
Brent Spiner sounds like Patrick Batement from American Psycho.
Am I the only one who sees Patrick Bateman in Brent Spiner?
Wow, he's so sweet in here. OMG, get those white socks!
Bizzare cos I'm a human who wishes he was an Android
36 and half past the hour? What a strange way to relate to the time
Why does she keep talking?! Her husband hates her.
He isn't old and bitter he just is a bit more witty
check the youtube volume sometimes that goes down
Denise Crosby thought she was going to become a star in her own right. Problem is, it helps if you can act.
he sound.......evil.....like lore evil.....
He is old and bitter now. What a contrast.
Picard and Riker were cool, but Worf and Data were KOOL !!!!!!???
" Make it so "
That comment is confusing to me, 90s television was terrible wasnt it?
Maybe I am spoiled since I only watch the best shows when I want, as many episodes in a row that I want and with no commercials.
Is the sound track damaged? Or is it just me?
+jmacleve
It's just you
its a vhs recording..of course the sounds got background static
I was hoping to see "The Incident"...
ITS NOT THAT HARD TO TURN MONO INTO STEREO, UPLOADER
+brian whalen why would they do that?
Obviously from a mono VHS recorder
wait... so does Data wanna be human?
*VHS tapes were bad!!!* 💡
Mm-hmmm.. I know that's right. ;3
Humor! I love it! 😂
she totally missed the nose joke
@Vulcans101 I thought he died to protect the Enterprise from that super radioactive green mist.
Oh not sure waht that was
I mean... "you know" is so 20th century! I mean, I mean it! Sic transit Data ....
Ah, the 90ies. The quality of TV was meh. The cars were meh. The women were meh.
Pretty much like now to be honest.
xD
the best thing about the 90's was the music.
the music was meh too
I think the only things not meh was Buffy and Star Trek TNG :D
If you ask me, quality of TV shows were quite a lot better in many ways - same with the 80's. TV shows these days try to focus too much on mass market which makes most of them just so dull. Stuff like Breaking Bad really is an exception. Although the past few years, things have been improving with stuff like Netflix pumping out series that wouldn't get syndicated otherwise.
the past is entertaining
Definitly! One still can watch NG and still credible, actually is more credible than deep space nine
I can never work out why they didn't do more TNG movies. Only three seems like selling it short but maybe the demand wasn't there so much as it was for the Star Trek TOS cast? They certainly never took DS9 or Voyager to the big screen though Jayneway made a cameo appearance in First Contact or Insurection, I forget which
kinda strange to see brent spiner with a non-yellow skin color
Yeah, sadly I think you're right.
