I'm trying to imagine the original builder thinking, "Yeah, that GT610 is really gonna make this 7th gen PC rock!" The integrated graphics were so much better... it's embarrassing. This is an office computer, told that it was a gaming computer, and then took a wrench to the kneecaps... of even being an office computer. Weird, weird stuff. A vintage HD 5870 would have been better... by a long shot... and probably cost less, even then. Love your stuff, Andy, glad to see you uploading regularly again :)
I’m guessing the person who built it needed a reliable system with 2 HDMI outs? That would make the GT610 and Bequite PSU’s existence make sense. I’ve actually tested the HD630 with an extra stick of ram and the heaven result went up to 80.4 FPS so nearly 3 times a powerful! Yes trying to do a video every two weeks and anymore is a bonus 😎
I think a good upgrade path would be the GT 710 2 GB. You got that extra 1 GB of ram and it is 2 years newer you can go from 240p gaming to 360p the possibilities are endless .
I’ll probably go for an i7 6700 but good shout! It would be nice to see what the last 4core i5 can do in 2024! Yes the nest trade up video is coming so 💪🏼
Cheers mate, never really sure about the 7700 over the 6700 for what it costs but would be interesting to test as I don’t really have any hand on experience with a 7700. Definitely think the 580 has been done but we’ll see! Maybe even a 1660super if I can find it for the right price.
@andystech101 I mean, personally, I feel like the 7700 is marginal in its performance over the 6700, but I will say the 7700k is a very nice cpu if you can get your hands on it for a cheap enough price, but if not I'd go with the 6700. A 1660 super would definitely be a great pair for it and would definitely be a better choice over the rx 580. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
This i3 were good for general use, still ok for general windows use, no good for any type of modern gaming, i5-7500 is probably the best compromise on cost, you should get one for £20 or under.
The cat likes it! That is quite a steal. Tbh if I saw that case at a yard sale I probably wouldn’t look inside. I didn’t know ASUS made a gt610. It is the silent yeah?
Ohw yes! But I wanted to test the system as it was with the dedicated GPU fitted, plus we only had 8GB ram and I didn’t want the iGPU pinching any of that. The only reason I can see that the GT610 was fitted is the user must have wanted 2 HDMi outs I guess 🤷🏻♂️
I think you got a great deal for what you paid for it. I like hunting for deals as well. Sometimes too much. Question, If you swap CPU's say from a Skylake to Kaby Lake unit, will it just work or is their anything that needs to be done? I ask because I have an I5-7600K in the original box, never used and want to install it on a Z 170 motherboard I sourced recently. That DDR3 graphics card tho smh. I accidentally bid on and won because I'm still a noob at this, an XFX R7 240 4GB also in original packaging. It is DDR3. It would not run right on high or medium settings at 1080p when tested on Unigine Heaven. Low settings did the trick, but it would be interesting to see what if any games would work on such a card. Thanks for the uploads and this channel, always interesting and educational for me. I appreciate it.
Yes that will work on your Z170 but you may have to update the bios if it’s running a 6th gen one. Only the Z270 will work with 7th gen straight out the box. It’s all good fun and just sometimes you run into a bargain like this! I have a soft spot for the R7 240 as it was the first GPU I brought when I got back into PCs 😎

Literally 4 times the performance as well 🤩
Great deal! I suggest you upgrade to a i5 7500 and a gtx 1650/1060
Can't wait for the £100 challenge video

Nice thing for making a hidden pc. Like a drawdesk f.e. As this does not need much airflow. Or as a dedicated storaserver. Cool find. 💞
Cheers yes it would make a good sleeper PC 😎
Great deal & a cat, too. What more could you ask for.
The cats called Dartanian 😎
Great vid, Andy! Pretty nice pick up! Slap in an i7 7700, and a rx 580 or gtx 1070, and it'll be a sweet budget machine!

Yes 2 cores don’t go very far these days. I’m tempted with the i5 but then to 4cores go much further 😅
Great video, do you write a script for your videos or go with the flow? Love the vids!
Cheers mate! 50/50! Sometimes I’m ok with going with the flow but sometimes 🤦🏽 I always have notes though.

Yes it’s a silent card, it was pretty cool as well even with that overclock! Sadly just not enough power 😅
I like such contant , you got my subscription 😁
Thank you really appreciated 🤩
My guy got a whole PC for the cost of the motherboard! eBay champ 🤣
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
isnt the gt610 literally worse than the i3 iGPU?
Not bad for what you paid 😊 get a i7 6700k and a gtx1650 or better graphics card and you have a cheap "gaming" pc 🙂
The i7 6700 is a definite! I was thinking maybe an RX6600 undervolted and we should still be under our 400w 🤞🏼

@@andystech101 - Ah good to know, I'll check the Bios version on that 170 board. Thanks again and let us know how your bargain gamer PC turns out.
