- Another look at the Defender 50 rubber ball shooting fun gun from Snowpeak that i bought here in the uk from Solware in Tamworth ………
Thought I would try to chrono it just out of curiosity, it’s just too cold still really with C02 airguns to do any particular accurate velocity tests so those I did will be slightly more powerful and consistent no doubt with warmer weather.
I was a little naive as I presumed the rubber balls I had were quite hard so wouldn’t bounce back as far as they did but they were coming back at me off those frying pans as fast as they went down range 🤣🤣🤣! Lesson learnt I will put my glasses on next time !!!!. My youngest son , daniel whos 10 loved shooting the pistol , ( even though it says on the box “ Only to be used by persons 18 and over “ ! Not sure if they meant age or stone 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣…….
Same as I said in the first look at this pistol I did the only thing that’s bad about it is those cheap nasty badly designed magazines!!!
They are garbage and even a few in your pocket with rubber balls loaded some of the balls would fall out in your pocket.
Need to be a better designed detent to hold them tightly and not allow any gaps around the balls to loose compression and velocity when shot .
I also tried some 50 cal paintballs in the mags and they fell through with massive gaps all the way round so i then got some bigger 50 cal paintballs , umarex T4E paintballs that were bigger than your average 50cal paintballs and designed for the HDR pistol but even these balls were too small for the defenders magazine and would fall through the holes so this pistol is not at all suitable for paintball use unless a manufacturer brings out some slightly bigger balls 😁😁😁.

This gun is so accurate. Like the guy in this vid I lost about 30 when first using it and then constructed a ‘trap box’ to catch them. But it’s so very accurate. I also agree the first shots off the canister are very powerful but that power diminished quickly with use. Great gun though.
Great for kids and women to get used to guns, handling them, and practice.

what is the weight of the balls used in the chrono test?

Sorry I’ve not weighed them so not sure. They are a standard rubber ball for those pistols, I’m sure you may be able to get heavier ones though .
I'm having a headache trying to choose the best (first) HDR (.50) to buy...
Both are great fun so you can’t go wrong .

It was officially released here in the U.K. just before Xmas .
Google it, snow peak defender 50 .
It’s marketed as a “ rubber ball shooter” and not a paintball marker .
It is just a paintball pistol that’s being marketed differently with the rubber ball theme to boost some sales I expect rather than relying on paintball players only buying it .
It will shoot paintballs obviously but due to the larger “ magazine “ ammo loading holes you really do need oversized 50 cal paintballs to fit so they don’t fall through.
It’s a great pistol though at a reasonable price whatever you want it for 👍

@@barendbarnard9614 Sadly not here in the U.K. though 😞 only “ frangable “ ammo can be legally shot out of my 11j model . By law I can’t even shoot rubber balls out of it but I can out of the 7.5j snow peak pistol !!!

Is this more accurate than hdr 50?
yes I think it is slightly , the longer barrel helps . Not a lot in it at close ranges though .
