Thanks Ryan for a quick, smooth, professional experience! I think one or two of mine might end up getting resubbed with my next lot, but I'm happy to have a few more of my favorites in those classy slabs. 🙂
Love your videos. Question that doesn't have to do with the cards--where did you get the wooden baseball card holders in the background and where did you find that statue of the baseball player?
In Reference to your 56 Mantle having the Face Drawn on it, A Long time ago I had and sold a Pete Maravich Rookie that had a Big Afro and Beard Drawn on it.
Biggest head scratcher was the 52 Minoso. SGC as most know, will grade up to a 6 with wax on the back. That card looked very nice, but we are just watching on TH-cam, and not analyzing in person.
It's my card, and I did inspect it under a stereoscopic microscope. That spot on the front is a surface blemish that in my opinion shouldn't take more than 1 point off the grade. Card should be a 5 in my opinion, and absolute worst case scenario would be a 4. 2.5 is absurd, I'll be playing the PSA game and cracking/resubbing some day.
@@joyofcardboard3230 I hear ya. I have 2 of them myself and a 4, that card looked so nice and the cream yellow background was very nice and not faded. The game we play. With my cards lately, I have been just grading what is for sale or trade. No need to pay high grading fees for plastic just yet when I can use that money to fund other cards. Best of luck with that Minoso.
Great video! I personally love the SGC slabs and that is my preference for my PC. Although I think they are the really tough on grading. With that being said, I don't understand what the deal is with all the SGC 1.5s (which I have also received on some of my vintage). There is a discernible difference between the 1s and 1.5s. A lot of the SGC 1.5s sure look like 2s, 2.5s or even 3s to me....
Thank you. 1.5s are either MC, have writing, or a hole. Others may have crease in the face. Still trying to get grading standards figured out feel they change a lot over time
Fun Fact, on that '53 Bowman Color Pee Wee Reese, Its said that he is Jumping over Phil Rizzuto in that Pic. And one more fun fact, On the 1956 Topps Hank Aaron, It is actually Willie Mays Sliding in the Small Action photo on the front of the Card. Not Hank. Topps made a Boo Boo.
Hey do you know why Hank Arron's birthday on the back of his 54, Feb 10th is different than on his later card 1956 February 5th? There might be more that are wrong too.
Maybe he had a thick accent and they thought he said the 10th, and he's all NO! I said the 5th 😂 I know segregation was still a pretty active thing. Different times... what I mean is that they probably didn't really care even once they realized, and as long as he was filling seats.. highly speculating here ☺️ but I love history. And the history of these little pieces of cardboard.
SGC graded my 1968 Nolan Ryan a 7 and I was actually quite disappointed with that. Disappointed enough that I'm cracking it out to send to PSA. I paid $85 for SGC to grade it and now have to spend $100+ to get PSA to grade. I know it will grade at least an 8, but more likely 8.5 or 9 if I have the right grader. It was graded by a now defunct company over 20 years ago and was graded a 10 pristine. I didn't trust that defunct company and realistically thought easily an 8 or higher. The card is absolutely perfect. It's been buried in my Nolan Ryan collection collection which is in my parents house for decades. I love SGC and get most my valuable Nolan Ryans graded by them, but I'm looking to sell my Ryan rookie if it's graded 8 or higher.
@@BreakoutCards thanks and I agree! SGC is still my go to, but I'm not sure if they were just trying to be too hard on the card to protect pop counts or give an unknown person a lottery ticket winner😂....I'm preparing my one card submission to PSA. 🤞
@@joyofcardboard3230 good stuff. I just got a couple Grace cards graded as well (posted videos on my channel recently). I've been loving the cricket card rabbit hole!

Wooden holders were given to me at the Las Vegas card show by a vendor. Statue idk my girlfriend bought it

Lol I hope you kept a pic

It may be that PD but a 2.5? Idk but I didn’t look under a loupe

Interesting didn’t know either of these
Yeah boy let’s go 🎉
thanks
Do you prefer SGC? I thought all the money is in PSA. How would you rank all the company's?
That 1990 Diamond Cards Mariano is his 1st card. Only 1000 of the sets were printed and at least 100 of each card were given to the players.
One to know about for the future. Thanks
Great cards, thanks for sharing
thanks

Yup, someone mentioned that to me before

I can’t believe this wow!!that’s my son the snake
Great content thanks
Thanks Brian
When is sgc going to have a registry or add security features to the slab.
They are working on an app atm. Security wise? Idk
@@BreakoutCards that’s good hopefully there app has a registry for set builders.

Sorry to hear that. No grading company is perfect, my go to is SGC but I have slabs from many different companies

Were the Graces yours?
No, for a customer. Next sub I sent in a Grace which got a 5
I sent those in, they look beautiful in those tuxes but the grade on the Series D was disappointing.

3 rookies and stars
Why not PSA?
I like SGC slabs on vintage cards
