      i don't know how or why there isn't enough coincidence or proof that even Nature is against LGBT. i hope to God that you men start liking things you don't have, instead of liking things you already have. God didn't destroy Sodom and Gomorrah by mistake, the men there were full on gay ready to rape the two men that were Angels pretending to be men.

    Atlanta native...
    The Eagle has been around for 30+ years. Sadly, it closed during the pandemic and going back to it's historic scruffy leather bar space on Ponce de Leon wasn't possible so they moved to their current Ansley Square location in the former Burkhart's/Blue Moon location which came with a drag show. Still a great place to hang out but it doesn't really feel like a leather bar anymore.
    I haven't been in a decade or more, but back in the day, BJ Roosters was also infamous for the fact that many of their dancers were "available for rent."
    Campagnolo is AMAZING! The best Italian food in Atlanta. It's been a few years since I've been but they used to have a piano in the corner of the dinning room. Later in the evening, the kitchen closes and the dining room becomes a cocktail piano bar, with a very talented pianist and a reputation for attracting equally talented singers who show off with a few songs.
    I can't say enough good things about Piedmont Park. If you are staying close by, it's easier to walk, or Uber. Parking is difficult. There is a parking deck on the backside off of Monroe Drive, but it fills up. Head East on 10th Street take a left on Monroe and parking is on the left about three red lights down.
    Spring in Atlanta is glorious, usually starting in March or even late Feb. (with a chance of cold snaps that early) it extends to the end of May. The "City in the Forest" comes alive with never ending flowers and pleasantly warm days with cool breezes. Just don't fall in love with the city until you've visited in early August and January. Winters in Atlanta can be chilly and damp, although there is always the chance of a one-off sunny warm day. I actually feel colder in Atlanta when it's 33f and drizzling than I have in New York blizzards. People not from here generally find summer to be hot and insufferably humid. Atlanta Pride was moved from June to Columbus Day to avoid the summer heat.
    Obviously, I love my town. Come visit! It's open, friendly, generally safe for LGBT people, especially the Midtown gayborhood. Southern hospitality is a real thing.

    Every time I go to Atlanta, The Eagle is a must visit. It was recently given historical status by the city (the only gay bar in the city to have that recognition). Always have a great time there.

      The Eagle moved out of the Hancock house, which is what was historic. Its where Burkhart's used to be now. The Ponce building and the kodak building next door were built around old houses

      @brucetidwell7715 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Gee-xb7rt I've actually been hanging out there since it opened 30+ years ago and I never knew that building actually had a name. It's sad that the owner let it get in such bad shape, and Richard couldn't afford to make the repairs that the owner should have done.

    • @Gee-xb7rt
      @Gee-xb7rt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brucetidwell7715 I am not really sure about when the storefronts were added to the houses. At the turn of the century they were two of the nicest homes in Atlanta though. Larry T had a club there before the Eagle called the Celebrity Club, he put in the sex position wallpaper in the entrance.

    • @brucetidwell7715

      @@Gee-xb7rt I have some knowledge of architecture and 20th century design. The front facade of the Eagle looks like late 60's early 70's to me. Without a lot detail, it's difficult to say for sure. But that was also during the period when a lot of Atlanta's Victorian architecture was being torn down.
      I just did a quick google and the Krispy Kreme across the street was built in 1965.

    I live in Atlanta and it used to be so much more fun before Midtown became all high rises. There used to be so many bars within walking distance (The Armory, Backreet, Burkhart's, etc...). With gentrification and Grinder, the bars as just not important anymore.

    I’ve been a resident of Atlanta for a total of 25 years, having lived here for 15 years and again after spending 25 years in West Hollywood CA and moved back here in late 2013. A couple of really good bars and restaurants closed in the last few years that were located on Monroe Drive in or around Ansley Mall in Midtown, just a block from the park. I live right there in the Ansley area. The rundown from Bruce Tidwell is a great summary of Atlanta nightlife. It should be also noted that the Ansley Mall/Ansley Square area is just on the other side of Piedmont Park and Blake’s etc.

    Can you guts please explain what is the difference between an expat and an immigrant?

    • @TwoGayExpats
      @TwoGayExpats  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitions for reference:
      Expat: a person who lives outside their native country often temporarily
      Immigrant: a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country
      As we do not plan to live in Mexico year round nor permanently, we are currently expats not immigrants.
      Also, we love Mexico and only highlight how grateful we are to be guests in this amazing country. If you take it as negative, that's unfortunate, as our channel name is not meant to be provocative just a simple fact for us.
      Safe travels 🙏❤️✈️🌈

    Sadly, the Gayborhood of Atlanta is getting smaller and smaller as the years progress. With the age of smart phones and dating apps, people are less inclined to meet people at bars. When I moved to Atlanta in ‘98, there was so much more. Backstreet, Armory, Metro, Hoedowns, Model-T, Phoenix, Swinging Richard’s, and Opus as well as Eagle, Blake’s, and others. Everyone had a place to go to match their interests. Who knows where the community goes from here.

    During my visit to Atlanta, I had a concerning experience at Blake's. The establishment felt racist, reminiscent of outdated "separate but equal" policies. The upstairs area, predominantly occupied by Black patrons, seemed segregated from the downstairs area, which was mostly white. This separation was unsettling, especially given Atlanta's reputation as a welcoming city for diverse communities, including Black, gay Americans, and international visitors.
    I love visiting Atlanta, and it's disappointing that Blake's didn't reflect the city's inclusive spirit. In contrast, other venues like Bulldogs have created a welcoming atmosphere for patrons of all backgrounds.

    • @TwoGayExpats
      @TwoGayExpats  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience! We can thankfully report that wasn’t our experience at Blake’s during Pride weekend. On multiple visits, we met lots of friend groups that were truly inclusive. It’s one of the reasons, to your point, Atlanta is so great! Hopefully, that was a one off for you!
      Also, on a positive note, Lena Lust, our favorite Tina impersonator from college, was working the door at Blake’s! It was so amazing to see her again after so many years!! 🙌
