Great video but one thing I would have liked to know as well is how wide can a three and a half ton vehicle tow a trailer at three and a half ton max if it's 7 m long loading bed how wide can it be load in bed or outside wheel to wheel?

What about 3500kg urban / mini artic , operating on a uk 5th wheel set up . Do you need a O license. And on a 5th wheel are you still limited to 7 metre. These rigs are very common in Germany, Denmark, Poland. I'm keen to run one in uk as owner operator ,

Great video, a lot of key info thats not so simple on to find. One question i have is, if i drive a 3.5 tonne van but occasionally tow a trailer with 2.5 tonne (6 tonne in total) do i need to use the tachograph even when im not towing or is the tacho only to be used when the vehicle plus trailer exceeds 3.5 tonne?

Thanks. When your vehicle combination is under 3,500kg it is “out of scope for tacho requirements” when you attach the trailer it is then over 3,500kg as a combination and this means it is “in scope” and you must then use the tacho. All of the above is only relevant if you are working for profit, if it’s not commercial use then you don’t need to keep any records with or without the trailer.

If you’ve never had a cpc card then you’ll need to do the 35 hour course, it’s made up of 5 x 7 hour modules, that will then last you for 5 years. You can either do 35 hours again at the end of the 5 years or you could do an odd 7 hour module here and there throughout the 5 years and then their 5 years would begin when the first 5 years ends

I drive a cat C lorry and I don’t understand the sign “ unsuitable for hgv” is by law that you can not pass or is just a warning that is a tight street?? Thanks
