I cheated by going in. I know that spot well and knew I wasn’t in and real danger. I wouldn’t do it like that on a unfamiliar river

@@AutomagicAdventures that happened with my centerpin this year I went to reel up after dealing with an tangle and had one on fish grabbed it in a foot of water in a tailout lol
yeah hahha that’s how i caught my first steelhead ever the other day, thought i didn’t get a bite then right at the tail out i started reeling in and boom got a nice summer double striper😍
@@GavWilla999 in my case this time even tho I was reeling I was still fishing a little. Long bobber dogging I had about 5 ft of slack I was taking up before my gear was out of the zone

I have a few x11s and they are sensitive, When tight to the bobber I can feel the bottom. $100 rods get the job done.
I bet the X series rods are great. When I looked at them they were much more than $100. I remember it being over $200.
If professionals are cringing watching you, they would hate to watch me fish. I don't catch nearly as much, and I know I make many mistakes! You're pretty good, from the results lol
Where I lack skills I compensate with volume of time trying 😅😅
Appears that fish hit your bead out as you were reeling it in?
@@NorthweSteelheadJunkies it seems borderline because I was dogging by 3-5 feet. Might have hit when the bead was still low or just rising as my first second of reeling was mostly pulling up slack

Not a bad rod company. Half of my quiver is Okuma. They make some lower end stuff not as nice.
To all those buying fishing rods and equipment. Buy quality. Even if you're an occasional fisherman woman. You get a fish lose it because of crappy gear you will regret it. Shimano convergence is what I use and has good feel. You will regret it if you don't. 100 to 300 dollars you need good equipment. Salmon steelhead will destroy gear and reels that are not quality.
Chris! Well said. I 1,000% agree. I’ve always felt that when I have any failure or short comings In fishing, I don’t want it to be because of crappy equipment.
