      Hey so I have a question. I’ve done it a few times but right beside the soul plate, on the frame there is the little space beside the wheel, its super small and you can only grind on it when you do ledges, what would that grind be called? You are basically grinding on the side of the wheel but its the part next to the wheel, like the side/bottom if the frame itself.

    In 1996 I did a Wheelbarrow. Lock your left foot at topside and and your right foot (lay lower to the ground), hold out your right foot and let it glide (roll on the back wheel)in front of you. Not a rail trick, need a curb flat edge and you can hold your right foot while doing it.
    In 96 I was 15, now in 2020 I'm 39 and busting out tricks still!!!! Roces for life!! I have a pair of the USD AEONs as well. Good Shit Lino!!! New sub!

      Actually I think what you're describing is a "training wheel" I think a wheelbarrow is where your back foot is in a backslide position and your front foot is rolling on the back wheel on a ledge. Not 100% sure though.

    Cowboy grind (double royale groove). I did one the other day after decades of not, and realized why I never do them. This would also explain why they weren’t mentioned here. Just not visually appealing enough.

    Awesome video Lino! I’ve been skating a long time and I still learned some new things from you in this video. I remember we used to call a true spin a blindside spin instead of true spin. Also true spins were called gay spins for awhile but that didn’t last long. Also when skating backwards and spinning into a trick we would just say fakie 270 switch royal or whatever. The trick terminology has evolved a lot over the years. I have a hard time keeping up with it and get confused sometimes. Savanna’s are extra tricky to describe, especially depending on how you spin into it and what you consider Switch. Sometimes a savanna seems like it should be called a switch alley oop backside unity, depending on how you spin into it and depending on what’s your natural way of doing a unity. It can get confusing sometimes but it’s all good, it’s a dope trick however you spin it. Vert tricks are a whole other topic. Chris Edwards used to do an amazing Judo Mctwist, but I’m not sure if that’s even what we’d call it nowadays. The sport continues to evolve and you’re a big part of that. Thanks for all you do :)

    Hi Ricardo, thank you for making this! It is super helpful for a number of us who don't have many bladers in the area to learn terms from. Like many people who used to blade in the '90s / early '00s or people picking it up for the first time now, learning all the grind tricks can be a bit overwhelming. As for the part at the end about new tricks, we came up with a beginner trick to train getting confidence with the soul foot for grinding quarter pipes where you grind soul but cross your other leg behind it and roll the top of the box as seen at 8:04 in our Episode 1 of Beginner Blading Sessions. We call it the 'Soul-Roll' since one foot is in soul grind position and the other is rolling on the box. It's really hardly a grind since one whole boot is rolling on the box, but the crossed legs makes it super fun regardless! Any idea as to what it may be called otherwise? We want to turn that foot rolling on the box into a slide position too and aren't sure what that would be called.
    Thanks again for streaming WC2020, we watched it here from California.

    Hey, Ricardo! I just bought my first pair of skates (the "Inline Warehouse" edition of the Roces M12, yellow and black). From what I've seen online.. I'm a little worried because it seems as though they are just amalgamated skates from old Roces parts laying around in the warehouse (I hope that's not true). But either way they were a steal, so I hope they last me. If you or anyone in the comments knows anything about whether this is true or not, please enlighten me!
    In regards to this video, I never knew how many different variations of grinds there were. This sport is much more complex than it seems on the surface. I still call it a fahrvergnugen. Also in the early days royales were called shifty’s if I’m remembering correctly. And on the east coast they used to call a Soul grind a Smith grind if I recall. It has been awhile so I could be wrong but that’s how I remember it. Also there were tricks like the Sidewalk and Boardwalk and a few others I can’t think of the names of right now

    • @Danielson1818
      @Danielson1818 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jpmd3000 Sidewalks and boardwalks still exist. They just had a bit of a comeback a few years ago. I never heard the term shifty before, but smith was probably changed since it's the same name as a skateboard grind... That's pretty crazy to hear terms before my time, because my time goes back pretty far.

    • @Jpmd3000
      @Jpmd3000 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel LaDue I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure they used to be called shifty’s or shifty royales. Also a shifty can be when you shift your body in the opposite direction of the rail, like if doing a royale down a rail you would shift your body, arms and head kinda behind you looking up the rail instead of down it. Sidewalks were always such an ugly trick imo but I’m glad somebody else remembers them. Funny they are making a comeback. Btw I started skating in the 80’s and got into aggressive in the early 90’s. Used to watch Dare to Air religiously every time before heading out skating.

    The last grind is called a Negative Snub Soul (I personally nicknamed it the 'Marshmallow'). Anyway, according to a deleted wiki page of tricks I saved years ago, a regular Snub Soul is done with your back facing towards the grinding surface.

  • @downonluck59
    @downonluck59 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pretty sure at one point in the 90s/2000s when I was skating we called a “full torque” grind a “Fahrvergnügen” 😆
