You guys are dreamers that continue to forget about the salary cap. Sure Gourde is a step above Holmberg in value but so is his salary. Holmberg makes $800k compared to his $5.1M per year. Where's that cap coming from? Trading Robertson only frees up $875k.
Maybe you've missed previous trades, where teams retain percentages of contracts in order to get slightly higher compensation in terms of picks or quality of youngsters coming back. Also, fun fact. Multiple teams can retain salary during the trade, so for a 6th rounder, you could convince Anaheim to be a 3rd in the trade and eat some of the salary as well.
I think you all are missing another issue, the 23 roster spot…which they still need to clear 3 spots… They dont have the cap or the spot. Not going to happen,
Seattle just sent down 2 guys and now only have 12 forwards. We should be looking to move guys who do not fit in long term with multi year contracts. Kampf is that guy. Maybe get a prospect or pick back. Term may work if Gourde 5.166mil is on the block due to cap space. Kampf would be 2.4. Right now we have 2 extra forwards so it helps both teams if they can move Gourde to another team and they could eat some of the contract.
@ he was playing top pair on sharks before he got traded he underrated in my book and tbh he is better then Timmins way better why don’t u think he should play?
@nathan-gamer61 He was in the press box.He only played 5 games out of 9 or 10.Timmins has improved as he has played more. I think Benoit has not played that well. But he is a left hand shot. I am sure Benning will get in a game soon but I don't have high expectations for him.
@@johnsummerhill8323I agree but flashback to when we got lyubushkin he went from being a healthy scratch for Anaheim to playing with morgy lol Thank God our d aren't that shitty anymore.
From trade rumors that leafs linked to this players LW/C/RW Frank Vatrano, C/RW Michael McCarron, C Brock Nelson, C/RW Troy Terry, C Yanni Gourde, C/W Brandon Tanev, C Christian Dvorak have been linked to leafs in trade rumors If true or not we will see?
Gourde is a greasy goal tough player. Even with his age he would be a good add but that's a high cap hit. Throwing away the future and affordable players is not always the best option. But we shall see. Matthews can sit. Its early enough in the season. He needs to full recover from what ever his injuries are. The team needs to keep stepping up. They should not be relying on one player.
Well with 50% retained and a trade at or near the trade deadline thats around 50% of his salary paid. So he would have a cap hit of 1.25m, this isn't out of the question. Although the question would than become how much would it cost for gourde, and the cap retention, and is all of that worth it?
You guys source Serivalli all the time and none of what he spews comes to fruition.
Agreed, all summer he was saying Marner wouldnt be a Leaf this season too.
@@Jhaze117-y2tyes he said 5%chance he would still be a leaf he just makes guesses KO one would give him any info
Tanev brothers would be good they both play hard
As Toronto is going with a new trend, Yanni Gourde is only 5' 9".

Retention

Brock Nelson, maybe , he's a C , 6-4 215lbs
Gourde on double retention would be a perfect fit
When Nick mentions Patches signing Darius smirks in a "yes, you were right Nick! " kinda way. 😂😂😂😂

Benning needs to play
He couldn't crack the Sharks lineup so what makes you think he can be an effective Leaf defence man?
@ he was playing top pair on sharks before he got traded he underrated in my book and tbh he is better then Timmins way better why don’t u think he should play?
@@johnsummerhill8323cause the leafs spend all there money on there forwards so they don’t have that much money for defensive man

I believe that they should keep Matthews out until he is 100% healthy, why bring him in and he gets injured again
They are looking to shed cap, I would guess if Robertson gets moved it will be for draft picks. They will address 3rd line centre at deadline.
Hi nick and Darius other good video
Perfect fit, exactly what they need, but how do you clear 5M in salary?

Mathews will be out around 3 weeks
F it. Go get Tanev. Toronto is always in need of a guy they call Turbo
Leafs need brandon tanev more so than gourde ...trade for oleksiak and tanev hello for going whaaaa
Idk I'd pass on this one
Holmburg is horrible domi excels at Center
Ahhh, no thanks.
He is to small!
Dumb idea.
Horrible trade
why not make a trade everyday, so that by the end of the season, everyone will be a leaf.
