I love it when I get the museum audioguide and its narrated by the artist's lover who decides to tell me the story of their difficult relationship. Happens all the time.
quiroz923 I can't begin to express how much i love hearing the raw passion in her voice. It makes this foray into their relationship so much more powerful and even this episode I found myself on the verge of tears! The voice talent for this is simply amazing
That is an interesting juxtaposition... but the way that I understood that line was more in reference to the explanation she gave for Claudia's disappearance. She was giving us a plausible explanation. The one that whomever is in charge of this world want us to 'buy'. That this artist hasn't been disappeared to a facility much like we saw exists in season one but they deny exists in the previous episode. "What does it mean to be convinced to buy something?".... like a lie.
Yea I got that too, which is what I was focused on at first. But it was when I was replaying this vid for like the 100th time (its so good I'm in love with the narrator's voice). I realized that it also coincided with the advertisements. Like 3 layers of implications right there.
The way she just moves right into talking about their personal lives with hardly any connection to the previous sentence is jarring. It is unrealistic and poorly written.

What fascinates me is the mixture of her passion; it's both about the art she sincerely admires and Claudia herself.

Anyone else think this is all building up to 1984?
'What does it mean to be convinced to buy something?'
-Episode pauses for advertisements

Goddamn good. Thank you.

That was your experience? I found that it was a smooth transition from talking about the art to about the artist. Sometimes I didn't even notice.
