I LIKE THE WAY YOU CUT TREES WITH OUT ANY HELP I GOING TO START DOING JOBS BY MISELF I HAVE A MARATHON OF YOU VIDEOS YESTERDAY AND TODAY YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION GOD BLESS MY FRIEND!
Be safe and enjoy yourself out there buddy!
@@metaspencer thanks man !
I don't know if there's anything more satisfying on TV than watching you cut-and-catch-and-throw.
Ya noticed! Yeah, I was having some fun with those cut-n-catches
5:10 - Hand saw is key ! Nice work with it. I feel like hand saw is a lost art. Every body just wants to cut cut cut.
I completely agree ... the hand saw allows for lots of control, cuts fast, and allows that other hand to do some key directional work. Which reminds me: gotta clean the pitch off mine!
exactly, 1 handed cutting utility is underrated
I always think it's neat when you edit so it looks like you're just breaking those chunks off by hand. Thank you for sharing
Kinda like a magic act up there, only without the tuxedo :) Thanks for noticing. I really love snapping those off
Agreed.
Love the cat in the window at 1:05!
He was watching the job! :)
I love that you use a gri gri on these spars.
Haha … holdover from my rock climbing days
I remember those year with dump trailer and hand loading, heck I remember the year when hand loading and hand unloading lol because I didn't even have a dump trailer. I now have 6 trucks/trailers/mutiple excavators and skid steers, 19" chipper and multiple stump grinders. Life gets better to those who hustle.
You geared up! Excellent. I recall my first trailer and hand unloading… woah! That was some work
I like single stem trees too! I just did crispy one like that, lots of "fluff" from the branches to rake up when they are that dry.
Oh yeah that raking never ends. It's like a self chipping tree: dust by the time it hits the ground :)
@@metaspencer Next time I get one like that I'm going to put a tarp in the drop zone so I can just roll it. 😀
Your mini skid video came up in my feed and than I watched this one. It's really nice to know that there is more people and climbers that do things solo. I work with a crew but often do solo rigging jobs. Look forward to watching some of your other videos and new ones to come.
Good to hear man! Stay safe out there and it's good to hear from ya
You are an inspiration man!!!! Thanks
Nice of ya to say! Be well man
Very impressive. I was nervous for you a lot of this video, but calmed by the thought that if the video was on here you were still alive lol great job!
Surviving is the first priority ... getting lunch must be #2 :) Yeah it can get kind of wild out there. Thanks
Granted , when climbing residentially , we are never truly alone. People for blocks will be watching the entire time , often enough. What a cool video brother . For over 15 years now it's always been me my truck , trailer , good stihl saws , climbing gear , and a solid client base . Bring some people in during big rigging , but I thought I was the only one climbing alone , and enjoying it , lol stay safe brother ,,,,
We're living in parallel universes. Definitely good to bring in some help on the bigger/rigging jobs ... good hearing from ya!
Amazing work, big up from Panama
Panama! Woohoo!
Yea, tree jobs! I was panicking there when you were climbing the wobbly tree, yikes but the view was amazing. Lots of fun to watch and I appreciate the home owner holding on to the stump for yard ornaments. I have a wildlife habitat in my back yard where I toss Christmas trees from people who buy the cut trees and recently had some trees trimmed so I added more branches to the pile. I have hawks and owls around me so the birds and squirrels needed a quick escape near the feeders, I love it. The stumps are great because they break down and provide food for woodpeckers as they rot. Kinda ran off the road there with my comments. Anyway, glad to see you out and about and staying busy. The container barn is looking great Spencer. Have a great weekend!
We have a similar pile of random things that all kinds of critters enjoy -- good to hear we're not alone! Thanks for checking out the vid
Somehow you can attract the special weirdness in any job that you put your hand to. You talk as if making a tree into an octopus is just part of a normal day
I'm imagining an octopus on every street corner :) or maybe just a squid
My friend.. that looks like a new 😁😁 2511 T.. Very nice.. Now we just have to work on getting you that mini skid.. soooooooooooooo happy to see you back in some trees 😄😄
That little 2511t tore through some big wood on that job -- it always surprises me. :) Did I mention that I have a mini skid on order? It's an odd one but may arrive some day
@@metaspencer ohhhhhhhhhhhh it's about time.. your back, legs arms legs toes finger's.. mostly your whole body is rejoicing.. Great to hear my friend.. Best investment ever 👍👍👍😄😄😄
@@carlobernardi1387 I'm not celebrating yet ... bought I kinda weird one :)
Love these videos man. You should pick up a Notch Quickie for your cinching spar tie-in. They're only 45 bucks and they reduce the risk of that biner opening if it slides along the bark when you weigh your system.
Okay you're gonna shake your head but ... I've got 2 quickies on my harness at all times. Doh! You're totally right about that connection
Nice work brother.
Thanks buddy
Nice job Spencer be safe
Thanks man
That's the kind of not a how to video I was longing for.
You said it :) Always fun out there
nice truck and trailer!
Big thanks! Yeah, it's been a great setup for me
I mean...I got run out of work today by thunderstorms...but we've got a new Spencer video...so I can't be mad...
Thunderstorms will get ya! good to hear ya got out of the way of those doozies :)
I've enjoyed your content for at least a year or so. Your the solo prince. Reg Coats is the king. 😁
King Reg!!!
Awesome work sir!
Thanks buddy. Good times out there
Great to see you back in the trees Spencer. I was going through Spencer withdrawal syndrome. Lol
Kidding. I rewatched lots of older videos.
Thanks for the support! Yeah, always great to be out there ... and these seemed worth filming. :)
Thank you for another great video.
Thanks buddy
I remember Echo was the best little saw in the 1990's with the carburetor and air filter in the front -near bar.. Do you remember Tanaka?
I never used the Tanaka but have seen a few on eBay ... I should pick one up!
Hey man I just stumbled across your channel from your latest video about tree workers getting killed. Love your content!
Couple of questions. How do you retrieve the other end of your rope after you rig a limb down ? Also what do you use for friction control when rigging from the canopy- a mini porta-wrap or something?
Do you ever get frustrated working alone ? I feel like there’s so many times when climbing or rigging lines get too tangled in brush below to pull back up or other little problems that may arise- popping a chain, running out of fuel on your last cut, needing a bigger saw, dropping something like a handsaw and needing it sent back up etc. sucks to have to come down for stuff like that when all you would really need would be an extra set of hands on the ground.
I’m all about it though, that is not a criticism just wondering if you got any tips or tricks. I’ve done some jobs solo before and those are the things that frustrate me to just want to have someone on the ground just for circumstances such as that.
Hey man, good to hear from you. I should put up a thorough video on my solo rigging line technique, but until then I'll just say that the line is always fixed on one end in the tree with the limb never tied on but clipped onto a loop or bite in the line. Yeah solo work can get frustrating but I work pretty hard to only take on the jobs that will run smoothly solo. I walk away from the work that needs a couple of sets of hands and that works well for me. And then I build in lots of extra time -- so a six day job is not that unusual for me.
@@metaspencer awesome to hear. I feel like working alone forces one to be creative and ‘Inventive’ in some aspects - coming up with new ways to do some things and That is deff a big plus. Love the content ! I will stay tuned for a future rigging video
Nice work. Make sure u keep yur carabiner gate aimed away from the tree. They can loosen up rubbing against the tree awsome work tho man.
Ah yes, a total oversight. I gotta remember to keep that in mind! Thanks man
@@metaspencer . It happens. I do stuff like that. I always like when someone mentions something that i missed. Looks like u r doin some awsome tree climbing..
Nice job. I like solo jobs just as much as team jobs. But I do prefer having a guy on the ground who can call the 911 for me if I get hurt
Makes sense!
Great video Spencer, love it. What size is the green beast?
Oh yeah, it's been a great trailer (and a money maker). Soooooo much better than the non-dumper I had before it. The green beast is a 16-footer. It'll easily dump full loads of logs but struggles a bit with gravel :)
Hey nice work again 👍
Have u tried messing around with those limiter caps? It’ll give u quite a bit more rpms
I've tweaked my 2511t in a few ways (muffler, tuning) ... but can't remember if I yanked the limiter caps or not. I'll have to dig into it! great little saw that really rips.
Good job man! Thought I was the only one doing jobs alone. Climber groundsman combo. When I have just one groundsman while I climb we can get a lot finished. Same as a four man crew with guys not having enough to do. Stay safe man.
Good to hear man. Stay safe and keep having fun out there
Hey spencer, quick question: I saw on many videos of yours that you lower a limb on a rope, and I'm wondering how that works. Do you retrieve the rope by going down and back up? or do you use several ropes? Maybe it's obvious and I just don't see it. Thanks!
Just one rope in a retrievable rigging line setup. I keep meaning to make a full video about how it works, but the basics are to anchor the rigging line in the tree and lower the limb on a sling so the rope slips off of it and can be used over and over
@@metaspencer I'm anxious to watch that video as soon as it comes, as it can really close a gap for me. Thank you so much.
Why was the first tree left in that state with so little leaf structure on it?
The dude was hiring a carver to make an octopus out of it
Does Anybody remember when Tanaka was the best little saw? before Echo. How do you lik ethat little Echo now a days?
I like the little mini echo: light and rips pretty well! I tried a few of the other Echo saws but that 2511t is still my fave
For the first tree, why not a sea anemone or a shark?
I want to be clear that I’m not criticizing your work that you do perfectly well (I won’t allow myself) but the ideas that people sometimes have 🙄😁
I completely agree with you! I think the carver is gonna show up and follow his inspiration: I thin an anemone is likely! can't wait to see it :)
@@metaspencer 😄
SO WHAT HAPPENED TO the Octopus??
I drove by there the other day and nothing was going on: no carving yet. I'm guessing the carver guy takes some time to show up. If/when it ever takes shape I'll make sure to post about it :)
Nice work, you can skip the gym!
Oh yeah!
Doood sweet nice video !
I just made my slings using the rated stitching 🧵 you advised me to use and they turned out great I get to try them out tomorrow!
If you care to share the set up of your solo rigging in a step-by-step video not only myself but everybody else that loves your contact like me would really dig it!
Keep kicking as brother 😎🤙👍👍👍👍
I was wondering about those slings! Very cool to hear. I think you'll appreciate them for so many things over time. I've had a few people ask about that self rigging tutorial ... I'll have to put it together. Thanks for the encouragement.
