Dear Gamer I found that if you sell something on accident, you have to buy it back immediately. If you wait and do something else like forge a new weapon, the buy back options change. I sold weapons and armor, realized I sold a sword I wanted, went to buy it back and all the weapons were gone. Could be a bug, but just FYI.
I've no lifed to level 167 and imo it's not worth it to upgrade your weapons until end game because you constantly get new equipment. I've spent millions on things I could have basically gotten naturally. Even now I feel I'm wasting resources upgrading. Once you beat the game you can get divine equipment which is better than purple, so eventually you'll want to get rid of a god tier purple for divine and purple can't level as high as divine I think (haven't tried). Divine equipment has an extra special effect. Btw, your talking didn't bother me. Good video for new players.
Money tip: Don't sell weapons/amor. Disassemble them first even if you want money, because the mats they give sell for more than the weapon would! Forging tip: Don't use Purple materials when making a weapon/armor, always use Blue ones, this is because 1 Purple mat = 3 Blues mats BUT the % of getting a Purple rarity weapon/armor doesn't triple. So it's always better to forge the item 3x as much (with Blue materials) to get 3 slightly lower chance attempts at a Purple weapon/armor, rather than forge it 1 time with slightly better chances (with Purple mats). You can also just get lucky and get a Purple weapon from your 1st or 2nd attempts with Blue mats. EDIT: Correction on this last point. Purple chances do indeed triple depending on the number of mats that have to be used, however a mix of purple + blue mats is still the best way to go about it :-) Hope that helps :-D
Highlaw better money tip: don't use soul matching or forging, just fight revenants. You will find every possible weapon and armor set out there. On the 2nd region most revenants had warrior of the west and Iga ninja set, I got full warrior. Now on the 3rd region the revenants also have the red demon set, so that is 3 possible sets I can choose from. There's also the occasional revenants using the strategist set or raging bull, but they both suck. Only money I spend is reforging, but is not a big deal.
Raging Bull set is amazing :P The amount of damage reduction and toughness i have let me plow through almost all attacks without taking any real damage.
Literally just got a purple Raikiri from using 3 high quality (blue) ores and 3 demon horns. Best advice thus far from my endless grinding for materials!
Ben Watts fuck yeah, this is what I do. I will never soul match, way too expensive. Is better to fight revenants and then reforge the higher level gear.
Especially before NG+. Which means you will be abandoning your favorite weapons just to get better stats in the first playthrough. Well at least there's Soul Match to possibly keep that good roll once you reach endgame or that one weapon you might want to keep during first playthrough. (Unlike Borderlands 2, the other looter I spent hundreds of hours into.) Like early exotic Kusanagi Tsurugi with a pretty good roll I don't think a revenant should have somewhere in Tokai region.
Tip, don't bother with soul matching. Most if not all of your favorite weapons smithing texts can be found later. This will allow you to make them around the level of the last mission you've just beaten.
DarkPhazonRidley don't soul match, just fight revenants and you WILL find the gear you want but higher level. I have never touched soul matching and all my gear is purple level 60, I'm in the 3rd region. I had warrior of the west but now switched to the red demon, I've seen the Iga set but I don't use ninjutsu. Sure I have to reforge more often, but who cares, is very cheap.
DarkPhazonRidley yeah, I will keep my level 60 godly Raikiri with 3 mid stance mods. But I will soul match it a few levels at a time, is cheap if you do 2 levels at a time. Cuz going even 5 levels costs me like 150k.
Also blue skills on a weapon only indicate rarity. Depending on your build a white skill that focuses on high stance damage might be better than a blue skill that increases all damage by a lesser amount.
@DearGamer, you dont get the stats from your armor because your character does not meet the requirements for the armor. You can wear it tho but the stats it its side are gray, meaning it is not applied to your character. To enable the stats, you must level up your character according to the stats requirement of the armor.
Soul Forging is great, and I love it, but it's not as great as most might think at least from my observation. You can increase the level of your favorite weapon at the cost of gold and certain effects can be inherited, but the weapon will eventually hit a point where uncommon and common weapons will beat out the weapon even if the weapons are at the same level and the soul forged one is at a higher tier. From what I've noticed this only really shows when the gold price becomes extremely high. I have also noticed that despite this there are exceptions. I have a level 80 or so Nami-Oyogi Kanemitsu that I was lucky to have an Attack(Heart)-A+ that beats out a level 99 version because of my high stat in heart. I honestly believe that soul forging is an amazing mechanic, but the only reason that I can find that makes it truly worth it are those super rare exotic effects. I would like to note that these are my own observations and opinions, and could be wrong.
The initial weapon is stronger at 282. The item getting soul matched is 272 and goes up to 275. So you ruined a 282 weapon to get another weapon up to 275? I don’t get it. Why not just use the better weapon? Or am I missing something?
Go back to earlier levels and farm on Revenants is a good tactic to recieve better gear for you to soul match and reforge. Don't sell anything, dissmantle it instead and get materials for you to craft with.
This was a great video! There were times when you went into detail on things not related to Blacksmithing, but this was a rare instance where it helped when you tied it back into blacksmithing. Thank you sir, great video!
Thank you for this video. I have not forged or soul matched anything yet, but I do take all the loot that is dropped. I never leave any loot, because I either offer it or disassemble it and I stock all the material for when I want to make something later on.
Only reforge if you have a Divine weapon, otherwise its just a waste of money. Perferably I would go with Final blow damage stat since almost every single enemy takes that damage. Also my preferance is to change attack to skill, heart, body anything that has a high stat, it boosts the raw power of your weapon. Make life easy by getting lightning for your weapon since most enemies are effected by it and it slows them. All the easy electrical bosses/enemies can be beat without it.
Note: Grapple Damage altogether is a giant waste IMO. You get that one strike and thats it. Final Blow allows one extra strong hit as they get up from the attack. In my experience Final Blow does way more damage then grapple unless back stabbed.
In regards to soul matching keep up with it, DO NOT try and soul match something with a large level gap unless you have the cash. I did a Torii Gate and got a ridiculous roll on a bow but it was level 20 and I'm getting 100+ gear it would've cost me 2.3mil gold to soul match.
Is the reforge fish... I mean female blacksmith lady supposed to respec the same few stats? Cause while I got no other conflicts with respective roll pools, all the stats on a weapon or armor can be perfect, except one. But when I roll that singular stat, despite the stat I'm looking for not conflicting with any other stat already present, it just doesn't roll. When it's down to that single stat trying to roll, the broad rolls the same 3-4 "different" stats in a patterned rotation instead of choosing the stat I'm actually looking for. For example, on the weapon I'm trying to roll skill break % which is in the break pool. None of my damage stats on the weapon conflict with that. When I roll the single stat trying for that, I get other stats from the same pool, such as high attack break. And it repeats in a cycle. No matter the game mode, or anything. Trying for that one specific stat and it rolls in this order: high attack break %, close combat ki reduction, parry, and then 1 stat I can't think of like damage vs a certain enemy, and then it cycles back through to high attack break %, instead of skill or strong attack, like I want. It never changes. Doesn't matter what difficulty of the game I'm on, what save file. Nothing. Is it supposed to do that?
Does anyone has the veteran set? Not kaido. I mean the one William wears in most trailers. Not Youngblood either! In the trailer where he meets ninjagirl.
It's better to get some luck gears + human equipment drops and farm high level revenant for gears (those AI is pretty bad). Unless you got supper lucky and forge a purple weapon with 5 special effects (reforge for element effects) then transfer whatever effect you want on it. Also break effect on weapon is the best for farming revenant imo (1 or 2 combo will break their defense)
I find it better to buy them from the Hidden Teahouse. Its like 200 Glory points which is not alot and getting Purple weapons and armour is pretty common. Also, the reason why some Revs have really good gear because they bothered making their weapons.
I think you forgot the bonus that maximum familiarity can offer when working with the blacksmith. I herd about it in passing but nothing detailed and it seems like it can be used to make very powerful weapons.
Certain skills will randomly get a special icon like this "[] > []" and if you have a weapon at max familiarity and use it as a meterial in Souls-Matching for another weapon, that skill also transfers to the new weapon.
Yes also it is important to note that the inheritable ability of a material item will overwrite the inheritable ability of the weapon being upgraded. Unless that weapon has no inheritable ability then it will take that one on.
One question I'm lvl 94 and just got the smithing text for raging bull spear I go hand over the text but I can't forge spears in the forging menu, they are all gray , like if ur missing ingredients and all only cost 1 gold. But everything else I can forge I have all ingredients what am I missing?
I usually soul match after I reforge to get that 'god-roll' weapon. Soul matching gets real expensive and you don't want to raise something that has useless skills.
It's quite funny being extremely familiar with this system, since I played a lot of it in World of Warcraft. I can't wait to play this game, unfortunately every time I go to GAME they're sold out. I should of ordered it.
I never learn about this since I just use pickup exotic weapon till I reach 3rd region and beat spider boss and made 400k gold without knowing anything about this. Lol now I made myself stronger and I'm still grinding for exotic weapons and glory.
Great video! What guardian spirit do you recommend for dual katana build? I'm still using Daiba-washi even tho I have Mizuchi and Fuse-ushi already, but they dont seem that good to me. Should I switch or wait for some specific spirit?
Paired raiken in my opinion is my fav so far does massive damage and slows enemys, also dual katanas already do fire damage to so its just ddvestating 😁
Kaulospliff because that set you get from hanzo cant be refashioned....however later u will fight iga jonin that you can refashion to...or u can spend ur glory to get the hanzo skin and look like hanzo anyway
MrSilksoul I never tried to refashion that particular garb. I was assuming maybe because it was equipped you had a problem. Maybe because it's part of a set you can't refashion?
SkitZ GaminG like reset? thats because when familiarity is maxxed thats the max bonus. the bonus resets when u soul match it....oh wait ur talking about reforging....maybe ur activating to many stats? if the stat is clouded out on the result then it will be changed
Hey everyone please share your tips so we can all learn together!

Here's a tip: ENUNCIATE.
Couldn't bear watching more than 20 seconds.
Sorry though if you've got a speech impediment.

Just tested trying to soul match a 150 purple to a 150 +5 divine and yeah it doesn't work.
Money tip: Don't sell weapons/amor. Disassemble them first even if you want money, because the mats they give sell for more than the weapon would!

Highlaw I have no idea what you're talking about
Highlaw I did realize that, but it depends on the rarity of the materials.
Highlaw better money tip: don't use soul matching or forging, just fight revenants. You will find every possible weapon and armor set out there. Literally just got a purple Raikiri from using 3 high quality (blue) ores and 3 demon horns. Best advice thus far from my endless grinding for materials!
I also found that fighting revonants is a really good way of getting higher better gear, fight the ones 10-15 levels above
Ben Watts fuck yeah, this is what I do. I will never soul match, way too expensive. Is better to fight revenants and then reforge the higher level gear.

I gave up on souls matching cause it cost me 6 million gold to do it
Tip, don't bother with soul matching. Most if not all of your favorite weapons smithing texts can be found later. This will allow you to make them around the level of the last mission you've just beaten.
I use it just to keep the specific stats I have on said gear. Plus it increase those stats as well

Tooo expensive

squalltheonly I know I did it because I like the skills it had that's why but I switched to red demon later on too

don't until u get divine stuff
This video is an excellent quick guide. I just started playing and was scratching my head on some of this stuff
Also blue skills on a weapon only indicate rarity. Depending on your build a white skill that focuses on high stance damage might be better than a blue skill that increases all damage by a lesser amount.

"How much does it cost? A thousand dollars? Alright, let's see." Cracked me up. It's a story about an English guy going to feudal Japan haha
Lmao
Thank you for this video. I have not forged or soul matched anything yet, but I do take all the loot that is dropped. I never leave any loot, because I either offer it or disassemble it and I stock all the material for when I want to make something later on.
That's a great strategy for loose loot the materials really come in handy
Just a random tip when you see a wall with red eyes don't attack it do the bow gesture and it will open
Dylan Goodboy not always.....sometimes u have to threaten it or use the yellow gestures....its random but when u know which is which its easy
Yea you're right also if you check bloodstains nearby they tell you what gesture they tried and you'll know to use another type
If the wall has red eyes use a yellow gesture, it the eyes are normal use blue
Only reforge if you have a Divine weapon, otherwise its just a waste of money. Perferably I would go with Final blow damage stat since almost every single enemy takes that damage. Dear gamer I have a question for you sir. When you go to the blacksmith to buy, forge or soulmatch weapons does it matter what level you are.
Oh this is so being liked so I can find it super quick when I start. Thanks for the guide my friend
You're welcome man

thanks for the helpful guide! been nerfing myself all the way through that butterfly spider lady with the umbrella, she fucked me up for like 2 hours
Thank you. This was quite informative.

Nice video bro. Keep the tips coming.
+King Hyrum Thank you! Will do
Dear Gamer no problem bro. If you wouldn't mind check me out. I could use some feedback on my videos. That would mean alot.
Awesome video. Thanks for the tips
+Ironblood Alchemist Thank you
Thanks for the tips :P
keep it up
Thanks for watching!
Dear Gamer my pleasure
agility b how much does it add exactly? what if i have agility a?
Hi, may I know why some time soul matching will lower your weapon's special effect and some time it will not?
how about an explanation about all weapon stats/perks? Break, Parry, skill break, etc.
I'm trying to figure out how many material you have in forge
Awesome thanks for the info Subbed and awesome channel love it :D
You're amazing! Thank you
I usually soul match after I reforge to get that 'god-roll' weapon. Soul matching gets real expensive and you don't want to raise something that has useless skills.
Especially if some useless skills are permanent on a weapon.
Thank you - great video with just the info I was looking for! You earned my sub!
+Drew Bacca Glad it helped
just curious how did you get the Nioh's tachi sword schematics also is't some kind of set?
-thx
+Ozen Frost it came with the deluxe copy
good informative video!
Subscribed AND turned on Notifications.
You're amazing! Thank you so much
Awesome video man! I have 10 million gold so I'm going to see what I can create, thanks!
Great Video... What does "Wood" do??
is it possible to find divine gear without a inheritable trait? or anyway to overwrite one that you dont want with one you do?
Yeah, you can make divine gear from the shop with nothing on it.
It's quite funny being extremely familiar with this system, since I played a lot of it in World of Warcraft. I can't wait to play this game, unfortunately every time I go to GAME they're sold out. I should of ordered it.
Phoenix Deux Same here, I caved and bought it digitally off PSN
I never learn about this since I just use pickup exotic weapon till I reach 3rd region and beat spider boss and made 400k gold without knowing anything about this. Lol now I made myself stronger and I'm still grinding for exotic weapons and glory.
Dang now you'll be even better!
How do you unlock smithing text for dual swords?
i've found over 10 for katanas but not even one at zone 4 already
I don't have that many either yet.
Best tip: go through the entire game with sloth talisman and start getting divine (green) gear in the new game plus
+V Nao Nice! Thanks for the tip
Great video!
What guardian spirit do you recommend for dual katana build? I'm still using Daiba-washi even tho I have Mizuchi and Fuse-ushi already, but they dont seem that good to me. Should I switch or wait for some specific spirit?
I was using Fuse-ushi but I switched to Mizuchi currently
Paired raiken in my opinion is my fav so far does massive damage and slows enemys, also dual katanas already do fire damage to so its just ddvestating 😁
It's all about the green gear. Nothing is better for special effects
Thats why you shouldnt touch the soul forge and reforge till you get to NG+ where its all about the green.
Gerald Milton all ready there lol it's just time consuming trying to make your perfect build
why cant i refashion my armor into the iga jonin gear i found (hanzo hattori's outfit). some people say put it in the storehouse but that didnt work
Kaulospliff because that set you get from hanzo cant be refashioned....however later u will fight iga jonin that you can refashion to...or u can spend ur glory to get the hanzo skin and look like hanzo anyway
Had this issue, what worked for me was reforging one stat on each piece of gear then it shows up in the refashion menu
so the reforge, is it possible to get an element for the weapon?
Yes it is possible to get elements, recovery, and stat change/boosters.
Darealpokgai .MacauGamer it is possible but very rare...its easier with divine fragments
it says "soul matching cost", what currency is that and how do I get more of it?
+samuraispiritsx Hmm I thought it was the gold
Yeah your right lol my bad.
Damn this Game as it ALL ! Learnt so much - Thanks DG & peep
Nice man! I'm glad, I have another tip video coming out in 30 mins.
OH YES thats what i meant dude ! awesome ! instalike
Ayeeee!
Why can't I refashion my Shinobi garb? I want to have the ninja appearance with the warlord strength / durability.
MrSilksoul Make sure it is not equipped
E_DUB I never had it equipped. It can appear on the first box but it won't appear in the copy appearance. Can you record yourself doing it?
MrSilksoul I never tried to refashion that particular garb. I was assuming maybe because it was equipped you had a problem. Maybe because it's part of a set you can't refashion?
MrSilksoul shinobi garb cant but eventually u will get iga set that can
That's how William bad at foreign language (1000 dollars)👏
make a video about the best weapon type overall
That's a great idea
What about Devine weapons?
when ever i try to reforge i always lose some sort of stats regardless what i try lol
+SkitZ GaminG Really? Which stat
Dear Gamer any man. ive been just trying to reforge a better sword the level will go up but everything else will drop
SkitZ GaminG like reset? thats because when familiarity is maxxed thats the max bonus. the bonus resets when u soul match it....oh wait ur talking about reforging....maybe ur activating to many stats? if the stat is clouded out on the result then it will be changed
Jacobreed1081 oh makes sense i guess kind of sad though haha
SkitZ GaminG true will the soul forging though if u get max familiarity it doesnt reset to far and it will max out higher than previously
it's not called exotic it's one of a kind you're killing me calling it that
But are there viable scythes in this game? That's the real question.
Janky!! Hmmm don't think so
Dear Gamer Dang it. I guess I'll have to settle on the chain thingies then.
Hi erkel
keep it chunky.
Btw this video earned you a sub from me
can i do the game without that crap?
i dont understand at all.
