I have not been back 'naar Nederland' since my American Field Service exchange student senior year '78-'79 in Maassluis..., I am an American who has suffered from the USA's criminally inadequate health-care system (great if u r rich/ die if you r poor or black or brown)..., within two years of my return from Holland, I designed the USA's very first 'urban bikeway' as a failed architecture student, only to suffer from two un-diagnosed and untreated medical conditions back-to-back of 25 and 13 years..., The University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus cross-campus bikeway (1981) and Lance Armstrong Bikeway (Austin - 1998 - took 24 years to complete) are a testament to the inspiration that I (and many others more recently) have brought from the Netherlands to America. I am an absolute nobody, don't care..., what's important = results. Now, 45 years later Minneapolis IS seriously getting there, most would say has leapfrogged Portland;; Austin Texas is well on its way. F*ck the automobile! and the 100 + years of wanton destruction it has wrought on this planet and unfortunately, continues to. :) bikeeric
