    Great mix and such good quality sound. After you record the mix, can you export it to a computer as a Master, or do you have to do Mastering after the Mixdown? I find that the Mastering always boosts the volume by too much and I only use the Natural setting not the Maximum. Thank you.

    *high five* bruh! I've been recording w/ the DP-008EX for 3 years now. Obsolete? Well, yeah. Primarily out of laziness I haven't made the official jump to DAW despite buying a brand new laptop and a $700 DAW software last year.

    Awesome demo and awesome sound quality. I think i'm going to buy one, too. Would you recommend it fully?
    Do you have any comparison to the DP-006 model?

    • @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios
      @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I would George very easy straight forward. the built in mics sound great. I wish it had MIDI out on it to sync drum machines up to it. But i just print my drum tracks to it or import a wav drum file into it.
      The only thing I don't like about the DP-006 is it dosn't have Reverb, or a lighted display.

      Thanks for your reply. So, i would do better buying the DP-008EX?
      Regarding drums: i would do it in the same way...importing them from my pc as .wav.

      Yes its nice to have reverb to spice up the vocals and other things, I would shoot for the DP008EX

      Ah, and i follow you on soundcloud from now on. Truly amazing sound quality on the demo tracks. Did you only use the internal mics from the DP-008EX?

    Okay I have to say that this is absolutely brilliant. I have one question regarding the Tascam recorder which nobody has been able to truly answer yet... if I am going directly into the machine with a transducer mic coming off of my ukulele and I have all the settings correct in the machine set on acoustic guitar... how do I get the sound to come through clean without any air noise when the track is over ordering the silent parts of a track?
    I'm not getting any outer noise because I'm going directly in and I turn the volume up on the transducer just enough for it's a signal but not enough for a to let off any kind of real noise. just trying to get it as clean as possible.

    • @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios
      @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure your input settings on the input knobs are cut up but not to much so they're not over driving go into your menu input settings and you will have input sensitivity like low-medium and hi Exedra turn that to where you getting a good level coming in make sure the track your recording now is only receiving that input and not the external mic also. when I cut my acoustic guitar I said set the recorder right there on a table put my acoustic guitar about 6in from the external mic I don't use any compression usually and I move the guitar to the right position where I'm getting the sound that I would like the guitar on these recordings actually is just a cheap acoustic guitar but it does fine also when I'm cutting a vocal I look down on the recorder in an angle about 7 in and cut my vocals right into the external mic

    • @johnsilvers88
      @johnsilvers88 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnBassarcticsoundstudios I go directly in with a transducer mic stuck to my ukulele and I usually use input level high perhaps I should try something lower? It just doesn't make sense why I'm getting the noise even though I do have it set to acoustic guitar. Of course I have all internal mics disabled. What would you recommend as far as the A level setting, Master setting? I'm so close to uploading my music but I have to get this fixed first.

    • @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios
      @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know unless the transducer is not really putting out very much signal at all and in that case I would try Mike and it with those marks because those Max are actually a good sound in little Mike's on the mastering setting I usually go for the natural but sometimes I'll kick it into the bore higher louder level the sort of seems whatever is sounding better to me at the time I hope that helps

    Hello John, loved your demo and your song at the end, I was just wondering, is there a way you could record more than eight tracks on this machine? For example mixing 8 tracks into a single soundfile and then putting that file into one track, would that allow you to use the other seven tracks? Thank you very much

    • @thejasonknightfiascoband5099
      @thejasonknightfiascoband5099 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you can do that but it can really fuck things up. You'll never be able to remix the 1 track u placed the sound file onto. Once in a while i have to bounce tracks but that's only when i absolutely have to.

      Looper pedal

    • @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios
      @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you can do that a few ways, Back in the analog days you would have to leave at least 2 tracks to bounce down in stereo, or one track to bounce onto a mono track. The 008 you dont have to. Ok say you have recorded all 8 tracks, get your mix the way you want it, set the beginning mark and the ending mark push the bonce /mixdown button, select bounce . Ok now I would arm record on track 7 & 8 Hit record and play now all the tracks will be recorded in stereo onto track 7 & 8 if you had your In and out markers set. When finished click Bounce/Mixdown button and select Multi track mode . Bring down the volume to track 1-6 Take Track 7 & 8 Pan 7 Left all the way ,And 8 All the way right, take any reverb off both tracks, and bring volume up equality on both tracks. Check that mix make sure its the way you want it, If so deleat track 1-6 and carry on. Im starting a new DB008 ex channel with a lot of instructional Videos. I will keep everybody up to date. Hope this was helpful. PS if it wasn't the way you wanted before you delete the other 6 tracks just hit undo and remix it. And Also you can always back up your song by going to Data backup and backing up your project. That way you always have your 1st 8 tracks.

  • @bobcatt2294
    @bobcatt2294 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    On track 3 you have an input device - Zoom effects pedal, that is stereo so why are you defeating the effects by having only a mono track?

    • @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios
      @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because I got the sound that I wanted straight down the center. A lot of times people want to run every effect in stereo just like Distortion guitars if i'm running rhythm electric Gt overdrive tracks you will find you will have a lot more power with 2 mono tracks pan left and right., than one track in stereo with chorus. I have a lot of people send me projects to mix down and some send every track. in a stereo file.. You just pick up things like over the years. It is fun recording with just 8 tracks thow I will premix different things together anong with the reverb and move them L or R and its like I can visualize that room there in. just like the late 60s and early 70s.
      Thanks for your comment.

      @@JohnBassarcticsoundstudios If you are using one channel (mono) and the effects like reverb (stereo) is being used, how do you utilize the center on a mono input and benefit from a stereo effects?

    • @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios
      @JohnBassarcticsoundstudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobcatt2294 okay like on the dp008ex recorder if you record a single track that is a mono track but you can pan it left or right in Stereo field and if you add the Reverb to it that's sending it to a stereo Reverb it's in stereo but also I neat thing to do is say you record 6. Handclaps and you premix them down to one track and at the same time you mix the Reverb in that one track now you have got a single mono track with the mono Reverb in that track so you can pan it left or right let's say left now it was sound like there was six people or whatever in that room recording those handclaps separate from the rest of the mix which is pretty neat. A great example of that would be my best friend's girlfriend by The Cars the introduction of that.

      polaris911 No you set start points and ending points go to mix down hit record and play. That way you cans fade out if needed and do any real-time mixing. But it will record in real time.
