I also wanna add another comment about the Korean thing: I am a Dominican-American female, and I did my undergrad in East Asian Studies specializing in Korean studies particularly. I'm also pretty fluent in Korean as well because of this, but more then that I've written extensive academic papers on various social issues concerning the Korean peninsula. So I'd like to explain: Korea is a country that for many years had its culture and language stripped from the people, and this is a sense of generational trauma that is actively taught and passed down via the school system. Whatsmore, if we only consider Korean as it is linguistically, unlike English, Korean is a phonetic language with a block writing system whose "letters" were made to reflect the positioning of the tongue and throat based on the sound that is made. The idea behind hangul is that if you can speak it, you can read it (vice-versa). A scholar at the time of its creation said "A fool takes a week to learn, and a master could take a fort-night," when asked about the difficulty of the hangul alphabet. In conclusion, both because of how precious Korean is to Korean people, and also because it is liguistically easier to learn compared to other languages which are not phonetic and have many changes/exceptions to their rules (take something like Spanish for example, which I can say, I'm Dominican), it is fairly obvious to me why so many of the masters are particular about pronunciation and why that makes or breaks someone's ability to debut. It's very different from English which is a combination of many foreign words, and is absolutely not phonetic in nature, with various rules that contradict itself due to its latin origins and frequest changes from 1300s onwards. Korean people themselves will flame you hard if you misspell Korean words (I've gotten flamed myself for this), and are very particular about how someone sounds when they sing, and whether they can clearly make your words out. The trainers are honestly just reflecting the words of the public. Pronunciation is something you can work on, and if they had more training period I would agree, but considering that this boy group is being formed to debut is around 3 or 4 months time, I understand their harsh criticisms and concerns around the lack of Korean skills from the foreign trainees. I understand from an American perspective this can come off as xenophobic, but if you consider the different historical-socio contexts of America vs. Korea, it makes a lot more sense, and you realize its not coming from a place of xenophobia, but shared trauma.

@@ambiguousness hello! I'm not saying Korean is objectively easy to learn for every person. I watched &audition and to be honest Junwon was under my radar until like the second to last episode but then I got obsessed with his voice and I was so happy when I saw him in the signal song mv
I just have to say - Thank you so much for your videos, it's legit my comfort content that really helps me deal with life and puts a smile on my face. Thank you, you are so funny. I literally love you so much. p.s. Woonggi - the butch legend is the funniest sh*t ever

Originally I wasn’t going to start it but I might just watch it for Taeseon,Yuma and Ksoul. Idk, boys planet is just so iconic that I’m going to be judging fantasy boys so hard, but I’m happy that it’s 12 boys with a 7 year contract. Mnet needs to get on that wave
i probably wont be watching fantasy boys but i will be watching boys love fantasy boys. ill watch anything boys love *insert survival show* yalls commentary is the best part of my week. also im living for the green screen. its so good.
I can’t call him Yaya! He’s forever Yacht to me and he’s been a BL side character forEVER and he JUST got to graduate to couplehood and mm kissery. I’ve loved that goofy gus since his bit role in Water Boyy, through bad acting, bad skin, bad shows….I’m on the Yacht, I’m fully onboard for Yacht. I know he’s not gonna make it but he’s gonna make it out of there with my love. So…yes.
Fully agree on pretty much everything y’all said. 😌 The production for Fantasy Boys is sooo nice but it really falls short on like. Everything else. I was so confused when they kept not showing auditions or switching up the music. One thing about me though is I will be voting for Santa!! That uneven split of global/Korean votes will not stop his debut!!
Tbh I’m only watching this show because of Junwon since he was one of my top picks on &audition. He’s really charming and he performed great even though he was injured/sick for so much of it.
I watched fantasy boys because I saw that you guys had filmed this so I knew I had to watch! also, finding out that this group would be a group for seven years and that Hyunbin from Ciipher was on it made me extra nervous and worried for Keita and the rest of the Ciipher boys. Like, what goes on over there??!!?!? I too liked that everyone had to audition individually and that there are less boys so everyone gets more screen time, but I was also upset about saying the pronunciation was bad. Because, as a native English speaker, we aren't as worried because no one speaks the same way here anyways so we can't really judge and it's annoying to focus on that.
Honestly idk if i will even continue watching fantasy boys because i feel like compared to boys planet tbh there are like 5 people who are good. I think MBC is shooting themselves in the foot by not making more efforts to push this to the global market, especially considering the kpop market makes most of its money these days internationally instead of domestically. However, regardless of whether i continue watch this i will 100 PERCENT be watching your commentary week by week. I love you guys so much, your commentary is so fun, I will watch any survival show you guys cover!!! Love your content and I hope you continue!
STAAAAAAHP! THE LEGALLY BLONDE SPOOF AT THE END GOT ME CACKLING!!! Can you imagine if they did a show called “Beret Boys”?! Adam would be in trouble but I’d live for this concept hahaha!!!
I need the tea on the 55th trainee 👀☕ Also, Yaya I have seen in countless BL normally as a supporting character. I haven't seen Santa's BL but I need to tune in. I fell into the Thai BL when covid hit and there are so many now it's hard to keep up 😅 love all of the content though
The 55th trainee is called Hinata and he's Japanese. He left due to accusations of bullying. He bullied a girl 1-2 years younger than him. He admitted to some accusations.
soo I did it, I watched fantasy boys specifically to watch boys love fantasy boys🤩 and I’m proud to say while watching the show I predicted your faves would be K-Soul and Yuma😌
Omg Yeaaay!! So excited you guys are starting the Fantasy recap, this journey is going to be double the fun thanks to your videos. ❤ coming from Boys Planet I never in a million years thought we would find someone to match the girlie energy and quite honestly surpass it, but just this episode K- “Joan Crawford” Soul was EVERYTHING!! Can’t wait to see more of him. I’m Speechless in a good way. Yuma bringing baked goods for everyone and not being intimidated by K-Soul. ❤ Like I need him to do well and improve. Also I have a very special place for Santa because he was paired in his BL with Cooheart who is one of the very few openly gay Thai actors and their interactions where always fantastic and so sweet. There is a video of Cooheart reacting to Santa Fantasy Boys suit dance video and is pure love. Santa has worked so hard for this and has talked so much about his dream of being an Idol so he truly is for the end game and not just the promo. Can’t wait for episode 2!!
When I tell you that I know actually nothing about anything Fantasy Boys but I saw my boy Taeseon in the background of this video…I might have to watch it now Edit/Side Note: Soyeon was eating it UP in that little dress she was wearing omg. She gave, she served, I died
Y’all I love Yacht (yaya) but what are ppl voting for him 😭 Like my first bl was lbc so he’ll always have a place in my heart but he just doesn’t have the skills to make it
You guys need to be getting kickbacks from all of us paying for Viki plus to watch this😅 it’s Junwon and K-soul for me ❤ but I want to wait to vote until we have seen everyone. I’m not sure if there’s less visuals on FB or if the lighting in that warehouse is very harsh. Ps my boyfriend was watching under 18 champions league ⚽️ match where he can see who would be good enough to join the real teams and I said it was like the straight man’s boys planet. And yes, his BP bias is mingyu.

I don't know... I thought that compared to Boys Planet (and the Produce series as a whole, really) the mentors, including Soyeon, were care bears. The whole show, not unlike My Teenage Girl last year, feels really wholesome compared to what mnet usually offers. I don't know how well that will get trough the public tough. Most people complain about mnet and its tactics but they take the popcorn anyway and get bored if there is no drama. There are two version out there. One cuts 10 minutes of performances in rather hilarious way ("Oh, you didn't sing..." one second later... "oh, thanks for singing..." - Boy only dances. "Wow, both your singing and dancing were great"). They are both "out there", in arr arrr, vpn and completely legal way. The good one is 2 hr long, the shorter one 1h 48 min. I did notice that two of the songs they cut entirely on the short version were indeed by western artist (Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars) but I am not entirely sure if all the modified songs fit that bill. I am tough fascinated by two morons on the internet trying to explain to professional kpop Idols what kpop is really about...
Apparently, and according to Kpop profiles, Bok Daniel is Korean-American (although his other last name is giving French). He also starred in a kid's show with NewJeans' Danielle when they were kids. As to why he doesn't speak English, idk, i can only assume
Viki did me so dirty. I was kinda confused like what is this music they're dancing for and why are people only dancing for the audition. I went on Twitter and found audition clips.
I honestly just watched Fantasy Boys because of Soyeon & out of curiosity to see how it matched up to Boys Planet 😂 I think BP wins hands down for me! 💜✨️ I was gonna stop watching Fantasy Boys but now that y'all have started these recaps- I just may have to keep watching FB cause I love your reactions too much ❤😢🤭
Personally would have suggested Fantasy boys air After boy's planet because Then the attention would go down to then but airing both at a go... I don't know but whatever. My no.1 pick is Hong Seongmin. OMG, saw him dancing to TT on his PR and was like...omg who 😘 He's damn cute. He's literally a darling. And he's Indeed a babygirl level😌🥺 Then we have Ksoul and Yuma like omg those two gave me the pure laugh I needed. Grand Princess omg I laughed it all. And ksoul dear wouldn't stop talking like eyes Where gurl, stop😂😂 Woonggi escaped boy's planet! Again is Moon Hyunbin, A GG enthusiast like him ain't leaving my pick 😍 Basically I tend to love Their dorm lol. I love feels it gives. And let's compare with boys planet . The Only reason I'm in Boy's planet is because of Woonggi tbh. And i see fantasy boys about to give me Woonggi pro max 2.😂 If only Woonggi went to fantasy boy 😭😭 Omg that would be sacred!
I've always been a silent avid watcher of your Boys Planet videos and I really really love your reactions😺. And even though I didn't watch the episode 1 of Fantasy boys...... But here I am... Watching your recap even before watching the episode... \(^o^)/
I'm going to be honest, I'm not going to vote, I'm just going to inbrased the moments and the app to vote is on korean not in English (lol😂) and I feel like I'm going to love k-soul soooo vote for him please
havent watched the video yet lol but i'm thinking IF i watch i'll just watch and not vote, it doesn't seem very global fan friendly anyway (no translations in app, romanized names in the episode, subs on other content) so i'll just be annoyed 😭 there were things that i do like abt this (grade concept, less trainees even tho they still cut so many ppl lol, fun look, no g vs k, etc.) however i feel like all the production value went into making the set look good 😵💫 i didn't like how random auditions felt. some people did 2 numbers where they sang for one and danced for the other, some did one number where they sang and danced, etc. and it didn't feel standardized enough. also thought it was weird that only some people were called two at a time and randomly had to audition "next to each other"?? also felt like the doors system was interesting but so drawn out in the grand scheme of things. overall not super impressed with episode one but some trainees did stick out to me so i'll root for them from afar. yuma and soul... welcome to babygirl nation lmaoooo 😭 also thought shiryu's dancing was AMAZING. as a shinee and taemin fan he did him so well. also thought second guy to walk in aka one of two muscle guys surprised me SO much. his voice was GREATTTT!!! (i say i wont watch now but you guys watching and reviewing is a huge temptation hahaaaaa hoping and crossing my fingers you'll watch i-land 2 if it ever comes tf out bc im waiting for the girls to bring it!!)
as a kpop stan, i can withstand A LOT of cringe. i'm no stranger to seeing cringe in front of me and then have it be repeated 5 times just to make sure i saw it. but this show........ i couldn't take it. godspeed to everyone watching the sounded mean lol but yeah the amount of aegyo was a bit overwhelming
I dropped boys planet because I can’t stand the drama anymore and I loved the first episode of fantasy boys. It’s kinda relaxing in comparison. Also I agree, K-Soul is the best contestant lol 😹
It makes me so angry when these masters/producers get on global trainees about their pronunciation/korean ability. I agree you need to have some basic understanding of korean when you start these shows or else it’s just going to be hard for you, but we’ve seen with so many idol groups and survival shows - after just a few months global trainees/idols improve their korean exponentially because of the immersion (see takuto). They can LEARN korean and they WILL but you can’t miss out on a good voice. (Fly high cong) I really hope fantasy boys doesn’t focus on that and instead helps them improve their pronunciation. If you opened the show up to global trainees with no Korean sufficiency requirement then you need to accept that there will be global trainees who can’t speak korean well.

(he has ZERO dance training and barely any rhythm) He is an actor (that's his talent) and God knows why they thought it was a good idea to send him of all people 💀
emotional support yaya
He has big korean fans...
also i'm not even planning on watching but i will be voting for moon hyunbin because i desperately need him out of the hell hole that is rain company
I literally had my notes in my lap to fact check if I wrote the same things.
I love it.
an informed voter!!!
I watched &audition and to be honest Junwon was under my radar until like the second to last episode but then I got obsessed with his voice and I was so happy when I saw him in the signal song mv
how blessed are we to have a beret for the center
I just have to say - Thank you so much for your videos, it's legit my comfort content that really helps me deal with life and puts a smile on my face. Thank you, you are so funny. I literally love you so much.
p.s. Woonggi - the butch legend is the funniest sh*t ever
so sweet! tyyy!!!
Santa from SantaEarth, Santa??!! Tbh, I haven't watched anything he's in (including Fantasy Boys lol) but I am very fond of Earth so by default I'm going to have to keep an eye out for Santa. At the very least I'll have to listen to the rest of the BLFB episodes to keep up!
My pick
Hikaru ❤
He voice, rap,dance Talented boy
u and rj on the same hikaru train!!
So…yes.
22:50 i think the black beret guy is kang irang!
THANK YOU QUEEN
Fully agree on pretty much everything y’all said. 😌 The production for Fantasy Boys is sooo nice but it really falls short on like. Everything else. I was so confused when they kept not showing auditions or switching up the music.
One thing about me though is I will be voting for Santa!! That uneven split of global/Korean votes will not stop his debut!!
Oh and Kang Minseo really stood out to me in the first episode! Something about him is screaming fav to me…
@@Alma-gc4nq FINALLYYYY I've been in the trenches trying to look for someone who's fav was kang minseo as well 😭
The episodes are uploaded on viki fully subbed the day after the episode airs just letting y’all know ❤
Tbh I’m only watching this show because of Junwon since he was one of my top picks on &audition. He’s really charming and he performed great even though he was injured/sick for so much of it.
There is a Taiwanese actor who was a supporting actor in a BL in the show.
Adam would be in trouble but I’d live for this concept hahaha!!!
brb starting the gofundme
Ksoul getting grade 2 because of his pronunciation is a crime!
I cannot thank u enough for posting fantasy boys content because NO ONE IS and ur also my favs so like THANK U
A BUTCH LEGEND 💀
ADAMMMMMMM 🤣🤣🤣😭
You are sooooooooo foul for that.
out of pocket
@@TheAmpliverse very.
Omg the production value of this video! Okay gradient green screen, I see u gurl.
a better one is coming I promise LOL
i have zero plans to actually watch this show but i'll listen to RJ and adam talk about literally anything
I need the tea on the 55th trainee 👀☕
Also, Yaya I have seen in countless BL normally as a supporting character.
@@HectorH-M ty for the info! ❤️
Santa is in “My Only 12%”. You should check it out if you have time!😊
soo I did it, I watched fantasy boys specifically to watch boys love fantasy boys🤩 and I’m proud to say while watching the show I predicted your faves would be K-Soul and Yuma😌
i watched the show just for your guys' recap, dedicated #boysloverina
is that... is that our fandom name!!??!?!?!
i forone welcome all fellow boysloverinas
Omg Yeaaay!! So excited you guys are starting the Fantasy recap, this journey is going to be double the fun thanks to your videos. ❤
coming from Boys Planet I never in a million years thought we would find someone to match the girlie energy and quite honestly surpass it, but just this episode K- “Joan Crawford” Soul was EVERYTHING!!
Can’t wait for episode 2!!
so the fencer is the Sunghoon of the show - our ice prince who decided to go from figure skating to idol
i watch it in 1,5x speed and every time you say k-soul i hear queso
🧀
When I tell you that I know actually nothing about anything Fantasy Boys but I saw my boy Taeseon in the background of this video…I might have to watch it now
Edit/Side Note: Soyeon was eating it UP in that little dress she was wearing omg. She gave, she served, I died
I have been waiting for this! ❤
Y’all I love Yacht (yaya) but what are ppl voting for him 😭
Like my first bl was lbc so he’ll always have a place in my heart but he just doesn’t have the skills to make it
I believe there has been a lot of movement in the classes after watching the 1thek performance
thats what we could tell too!!!
And yes, his BP bias is mingyu.
black beret is in the behind the scenes that just dropped
adam get on it
Fun fact: Daniel trained at Starship for a year and a half and then at SM for a month…..
What, he trained!!! I need another performance when he’s not as nervous or some thing.
Ok I have not watched the show yet and was watching this vid out of curiosity, but hearing them say K-Soul makes Woongki look butch made me bust out laughing 😂 😂 I must see this boy now
35:07 but you're the one that came up with it, adam
i made a mistake lmaooooo
I saw K.Soul’s audition but I watched it on a different website
I cracked up so hard when they started to the accent talking bout the beret
im not even gonna watch fantasy boys but ill watch this slay
Nevermind I have started it, I need more survival shows
I guess I'll give this show a go because of you guys. Btw love the T-shirt! GG forever
I have no intention of watching Fantasy Boys, but I will fully watch every second of your recaps. I'm all in for you guys ❤
I watched the first episode on Kiss Asian and they didnt cut the songs or k-souls audition..
viki did us dirty
@@TheAmpliverse either watch on kshow or kiss Asian mines was the same I saw k soul audition them giving him grade 2 for bad pronunciation is foul when right after him they gave a trainee who trainee for one month and someone who sang worse that him grade 1
Where are ya’ll watching Fantasy Boys? I only see half the livestream on NaverNow after the BP stream as well as clips from their YT Channel.
You can watch in on viki one day later
Bilibili
Kiss Asian, they showed all the songs
iQIYI official media partner of Fantasy Boys with English subs. Though you'll get to watch free a day after. If you have a plan you can watch it on the same time as it airs.
btw they post the show on youtube with subs a few days after the premier
OH MY GOD ITS OUT, I shall watch when I get out of work
Daniel is the kid in “The Origin,” the teaser for NCT’s debut back in 2016!
Oh wow he's Daniel Lachapelle?! He was in a lot of variety shows back then for being that pretty kid. Now I feel officially ancient.
@@cmq23 Yes! I was so surprised, I can’t believe he’s old enough to debut😅
@@emmalexie I remember when he was this small! th-cam.com/video/PFeQIS8mMH0/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=lolchae93
Black Beret boy is Kang Irang I believe, gurl he's too young that he doesn't even know Taeyeon was part of Girls Generation
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (RJ screaming in sone)
@@TheAmpliverse meanwhile Moon Hyunbin dancing to Forever 1 in his PR video, the generation gap is gapping hard
Apparently, and according to Kpop profiles, Bok Daniel is Korean-American (although his other last name is giving French). He also starred in a kid's show with NewJeans' Danielle when they were kids. As to why he doesn't speak English, idk, i can only assume
This show is for the girls💅💅💅💅💅💅💅💅💅💅💅
I have wasted so much time on boys planet, i can't afford to waste my time on another reality show with my exams coming 😢
we'll release this as asmr versions with lofi playing so you can listen to help focus
Viki did me so dirty. I was kinda confused like what is this music they're dancing for and why are people only dancing for the audition. I went on Twitter and found audition clips.
as long as i live, i will never understand music licenses
I was so confused I was like listening and im like who's Queso?!?!?! Looked up boys fantasy and found out you were talking about K-Soul, not Queso 🤣🤣🤣
I honestly just watched Fantasy Boys because of Soyeon & out of curiosity to see how it matched up to Boys Planet 😂 I think BP wins hands down for me! 💜✨️ I was gonna stop watching Fantasy Boys but now that y'all have started these recaps- I just may have to keep watching FB cause I love your reactions too much ❤😢🤭
imma need y’all to vote for THE main visual JIN MYUNGJAE
Yeahhhhh, soooooo, i guess i watched pr videos, pre-release videos, and the first episode just to watch you guys commentate on it. So what 👀?
I have done 0 research on this group and I have t started voting. I come to this recap a blank page being told who to vote for 🤣
Ι don't think it will be a permanent group, but project group
one thing about K Soul is he is gonna be my one pick
Personally would have suggested Fantasy boys air After boy's planet because Then the attention would go down to then but airing both at a go... I don't know but whatever.
My no.1 pick is Hong Seongmin. OMG, saw him dancing to TT on his PR and was like...omg who 😘 He's damn cute. He's literally a darling. And he's Indeed a babygirl level😌🥺
Then we have Ksoul and Yuma like omg those two gave me the pure laugh I needed. Grand Princess omg I laughed it all. And ksoul dear wouldn't stop talking like eyes Where gurl, stop😂😂 Woonggi escaped boy's planet!
Again is Moon Hyunbin, A GG enthusiast like him ain't leaving my pick 😍
Basically I tend to love Their dorm lol.
Girl i think you're watching a bad stream cause i saw one that was over 2 hours long and had the songs for all the auditions
we watched the one on viki she did us dirty 😭
Hey what did you guys watch it on? I can’t find it anywhere 😭
The show was on Viki for us!
@@TheAmpliverse Thanks so much!
Im enjoying Fantasy boys more... It just so chill and fun. There's no evil Editing and a lot of trainees are given screentime.
I'm going to be honest, I'm not going to vote, I'm just going to inbrased the moments and the app to vote is on korean not in English (lol😂) and I feel like I'm going to love k-soul soooo vote for him please
Im sad cuz there was a guy im black who was in the top but we never saw his audition
Is it bad i want to watch Fantasy Boys only because there are bl actors in it?
No cuz same. I watched My Only 12% series and when I heard Santa was gonna be on this show I ran to watch it
havent watched the video yet lol but i'm thinking IF i watch i'll just watch and not vote, it doesn't seem very global fan friendly anyway (no translations in app, romanized names in the episode, subs on other content) so i'll just be annoyed 😭 there were things that i do like abt this (grade concept, less trainees even tho they still cut so many ppl lol, fun look, no g vs k, etc.) however i feel like all the production value went into making the set look good 😵💫 i didn't like how random auditions felt. some people did 2 numbers where they sang for one and danced for the other, some did one number where they sang and danced, etc. and it didn't feel standardized enough. also thought it was weird that only some people were called two at a time and randomly had to audition "next to each other"?? also felt like the doors system was interesting but so drawn out in the grand scheme of things. overall not super impressed with episode one but some trainees did stick out to me so i'll root for them from afar. yuma and soul... welcome to babygirl nation lmaoooo 😭 also thought shiryu's dancing was AMAZING. as a shinee and taemin fan he did him so well. also thought second guy to walk in aka one of two muscle guys surprised me SO much. his voice was GREATTTT!!!
(i say i wont watch now but you guys watching and reviewing is a huge temptation hahaaaaa hoping and crossing my fingers you'll watch i-land 2 if it ever comes tf out bc im waiting for the girls to bring it!!)
There's a subbed episode in iQIYI
But how did you guys know it’s a 7 yr contract
as a kpop stan, i can withstand A LOT of cringe. i'm no stranger to seeing cringe in front of me and then have it be repeated 5 times just to make sure i saw it. but this show........ i couldn't take it. godspeed to everyone watching
the sounded mean lol but yeah the amount of aegyo was a bit overwhelming
i’m a former disney gay. we’re built different lmao
9:00 he did ca. like it’s rlly bad. and he lied about his age.
Compared with Boys Planet, this show is being made very poorly in Production Value. Choose 12 out of 50 something? Come'on
I dropped boys planet because I can’t stand the drama anymore and I loved the first episode of fantasy boys. It’s kinda relaxing in comparison. Also I agree, K-Soul is the best contestant lol 😹
Oh hyuntae was really good but he’s just too young
