Instead of going ove rmanually deleting the wings and parts you don't want, just select what you want and the do Shift + H and it deletes/hides everything else. For example if you just want the fuselage/body, then just select the fuselage and then press Shift + H and all of the other parts will be gone, easy as that. Its much more time craving and hard to go over all the small pieces and deleting them

Excellent! So good for adding titles and logos. I added the reg numbers to my livery using Gimp and you can see the are slightly misaligned, whereas everything added using the blender method is spot on. Now to find out how to paint stripes/swirls and patterns in Blender.
Sorry I just read this now.. one way you can do this is by making a very long straight line in gimp or PH and saving it and use that, if it aint long enough you can try to allign it w the already painted part and see if it is correctly set in the UVmap, if it is then fully paint it, very time consuming though but idk of any other way...
For anyone watching this now and having a problem with the FBW Airbus where blender starts to freeze and then paints all over the plane. Go into edit mode, press "A" to select all. Then press "U" and select unwrap. Once you unwrap the texture the paint should apply just fine

When i try to import the same plane from MSFS 2020 in blender as you did, then i get a error "extention MSFT_texture_dds is not available on this addon version" i'm using blender 2.92 and glTF 2.0 and just installed MSFS 2020.

When i try to paint the logo on the tail it also paint the middle of the fuselage. How to do it??
when I import gltf model of airplane from MSFS into blender using this add on, some of the parts are not where they are supposed to be.
sometimes the wings are flipped around, some parts are far away from the fuselage, etc.
how do you fix this or avoid this ?
Just the part on how to paint the fuselage in blender helps me paint other aircraft for other games.
I'm following this but for painting the 747. Is there a way to paint half the fuselage white and the lower half have it a metal?

You can also use Intel texture works as well to load DDS files if you do not have a dedicated Nvidia graphics card
you should redone this with 1080p or bigger...
one of the best tutorials for liveries - but very hard to read and follow on 4 and 5K Screens :-( and there is also a brand new version of the importer with other options, greatly simplified!
Any chance, you know how to strech a stencil? I know that will mess the image proportion a bit but sometimes I would like to strech an image horizontally without making it bigger vertically..
Tried to get the asobo 747-8i model pulled into Blender so I can make my own liveries but all I get is a cube. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the video, and have been following up until 14:36 where you use the stencil Sure would have been nice to have the stencil you used! That way "we" can tell what it's supposed to look like and can replicate it when needed on other aircraft.
Just came across this video but in blender if you have object mode selected on a part then press tab it will show the vertices which is a really useful way to line up stencils

I’m using the MSFS to Blender and finding that in some parts of the A320 NEO model the stencil paint spreads in other areas and particulatly when painting on the fin.
On other parts of the fuselage it paints as it should. Am I doing soingthing wrong?

Heyo, i've been noticing the same it seems to be something related to the sim model itself. Easiest fix is downloading the paintkit of the A320 NEO available ik flightsim.to

Thank you for your tutorial, very informative, however, when it comes to editing the "layout" & "manifest" code, i seem to have way more lines of code than is shown on your screen. (RP Simulations T-27 Tucano) I am trying to create a TEMPLATE so i can import my new livery. Any suggestions?
I suggest using MSFSLayoutGenerator for that if you aren't already

which version of blender are you using because image aspect does not show up when I add the texture (I'm using Blender 2.80 & 2.92.0). Or what has it changed to
Unfortunately I forgot which version I use but it should be the most recent one as I use it via steam with auto update. Make sure you placed the image as a stencil aswell though, otherwise the button won't appear.
@@sdwdidi5079 Hi sorry for the late reply (I just discovered this video, it's very useful btw!), you used Blended 2.91.0, the Blender version can be seen in the bottom right corner of the program.

Tbh I have no real clue as i have fairly basic knowledge, best bet is to use photoshop for that

If it is anything like the 787 works you need to just pain it the normal way, once done u basically just replace the normal uvmaps. Otherwise idk and I'd need to take a look.

But I've got a small issue with the Photoshop part.. I installed the NVIDIA Texture Tools Exporter and therefore I am able to open DDS files on to photoshop. However when trying to save as, the dds file option is not available.. I simply have PSD, PSB and TIFF..
Have you experienced this issue before ? And do you have a solution ?
Unfortunately I have never had this issue before, quick question do u use an Nvidia GPU? And have u tried to restart ur pc and then save it?
How does it work if you want to color the wings and engines to match the fuselage?
Engines r impossible to do through blender, you have to go to the engines AMBD file and edit straight from there, i think it's the same with the wings

Hi! I tried your method but Blender isn't opening the file because it's giving error messges like "could not hadle .obj". I installed the plugin and Nvidia dds tool, but Blender isn't able to open it.
Unfortunately idk what that could be, i'd suggest to double check whether ur opening it the right way. Otherwise you can always try using a paint kit version of the plane you are using, over at flightsim.to ik there's an a320 paint kit, most likely for other planes aswell. That solved an issue I started having myself when painting, maybe same goes for you

When I try to import the model it always gives me the error "MSFT_texture_dds is not avalible on this addon version"
Best thing to do is download the paintkit from flightsim.to, tut is a tad out of date and often causes issues
thank you for the video, when I paint on the logo on the tail it makes weird streaks on the nose of the plane for some reason and it looks very glitchy
also the titles dissapeared for some reason
@@flickety1019 many of the issues seem to have hapenned after an update idrk how to solve it. I just use paint kits that I DL from flightsim.to, don't have issues then myself

Haha no question is a dumb question, and this ine is a fairly good one tbh. Unfortunately idk myself I have not much xp w photoshop my safest bet is it's fone via Adobe illustrator.
If you are looking for company logos, then a google search will get you plenty, plus Wikipedia often has an "empty (ie no background) logo if you do a search for a particular airline.
It works nice for the text and all but the logo for the rudder just messes everything up.... any tips?
Did u make sure the frosted thing and livery_official is removed? also sometimes the mirroring can fuck it up

Hard to tell as it depends where you installed the game directory wise. I'd recommend look a bit at files and see if u find it. I'll check it out a bit later after work

Try finding a paint kit in flightsim.to, it should work w that exactly how I did ik the tutorial

Very nice video, but when I try to import the glTF file there is an error warning and no model shows up.

It's the exact same way u just need to work with 3 diff fuselage files
@@sdwdidi5079 it’s not the same since you cannot paint the fuselage you need to actually have mesh to curve around the fuselage it complicated so… idk

Pretty much the same yeah, only difference you will work with 2 more UVmaps

Yeeaaa, the uploaded has been working rather badly for many ppl. You can try to find a paint kit somewhere, flightsim.to has a lot of them

I literally explained how to get the plane models in blender? If you don't find it in a similar directory, then it might depend on the version you have installed (steam/windows store) and/or install directory

I followed this to a T, but gave up on the 16 minute mark.
I used FBW A32NX textures, and when it comes to stenciling in the logo I want Blender starts lagging really bad, freezing at times, and then draws various colors of the logo in lines throughout the airplane. What a piece of crap program.
Yeah blender's quite bad at times, i suggest using a smaller brush which will be less taxing on some pc's. For the random lines a good solution, is using the paintkits available on flightsim.to most of them solve that same exact issue
@@sdwdidi5079 Thanks for the tip but I've already had enough lol.. I just wanted to make myself a simple custom pain job with a white aircraft and one logo on either side. It used to be much simpler to make your own liveries, and this... I really don't want to bother.
