    Hi Phil I lost a good friend recently. So I've just not been very social...but I'm here..
    You know I just don't expect perfection from any of you boaters...I enjoy your vlogs as they are..People just do not realize the difficulties you face and overcome with every single one of them...
    Your boat after all is over 43 yrs old...do you think an automobile would sound perfect after all the wear and tear on it? Perhaps if your a millionaire and can keep it in pristine condition...
    I wish people would give you a break honestly ...and accept your "corn binder" for what it is...
    I owned my own International Flat Bed for years..I loved that old truck...it just kept going, damn reliable. I believe your boat is same for you...
    Anyway I enjoy your vlogs as they are.. they are your art...as an artist im perfectly willing to enjoy your creations as they are ...not as what I think they should be..
    Sorry for the rant..but ....well it upset me a bit to see you getting jumped on..
    All the very best...always...😊

      Thank you, sorry to hear of your loss. My videos are free for anybody to watch but despite that there's always someone who moans. I take no notice of them (unless they are patrons). The sound on the next video came out fine even though it was recorded just a few hours after the last trip.

    I'm inclined to agree with Scott Williams, could just be two surfaces rattling. Press various surfaces to locate the problem. This vlog does show some very picturesque spots on this canal, but it also shows the odd lunatic that you are wary of. I'm enjoying your music, along with the vlog. Canals are amazing , but after watching hundreds of associated vlogs, I've decided locks can be a major burden. I dont suppose there any lockless canals. Anyway, thanks very much Phil, and do take care.

      Thank you. The novelty of locks soon wears off. The Ashby canal is lock free.

    Thanks Phil. Wonderful again. I well know the problems with stray light getting into the lens, and you can’t have the sun behind you all the time. That’s the problem with modern digital cameras, no means of attaching a lens hood. When I’m out walking, I try to stand in the shadow of a tree, or anything else I can find, just to shield the lens. Almost impossible on a boat. I guess canals are like roads. Lots of drivers with little experience or the ability to steer correctly.

    Oh, nearly forgot, could the noise be inside the microphone or camera? I had a piece of plastic break off one inside a microphone!

    • @NarrowboatJourneys
      @NarrowboatJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was the problem when I was recording sound for my bike rides. A button in the sound recorder was rattling. But this isn't that. It could however be a very quiet rattle that just happens to be very close to the microphone...?

    Nice video, I like the balance of your music and the narrations over it. I think you are in the minority of getting the volumes of talking in relation to engine and background noise correct.

    Lush plants - looks like they've grown out all over. Are the bridges lower on this canal?

    • @NarrowboatJourneys
      @NarrowboatJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The canal is badly overgrown. It looks nice but makes boating harder. Yes, the bridges are a bit lower on this canal.

    I know you like to keep things natural Phil but I do know what your engine sounds like. It sounds like tinnitus through my headphones now with an added rattle. Please go back to the music backing audio yes you did have a musical segment but I could still hear that damn engine.

    • @NarrowboatJourneys
      @NarrowboatJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to get some better headphones, or turn the sound down a bit. Impossible to please everyone.

      @@NarrowboatJourneys quite right Phil it's impossible to please everyone so we have to compromise. Half the video with tinnitus and a rattle and half the video with your delightful music no engine. So glad you haven't got one of those thump thump engines like Narrowboat Pirate. Your music is the icing on the cake and sets your videos apart from other NB vlogs.

    • @NarrowboatJourneys
      @NarrowboatJourneys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it could be a window. Or it might be a very quiet rattle that just happens to be very close to the microphones? I keep finding culprits, and fixing them, then at some point they return.
