I was a kid musician (I'm still working today) in the North Hollywood area int he 1970's, and people would always ask me: "Do you know Tom Scott?" Back then he was already becoming famous even as a teen due to his immense talent and ability to deliver. Before I could drive I begged my mother to drive me over to North Hollywood library where his group and he were playing in probably 1970 or 1971 (prior to L.A. Express). And John Guerin, Chuck Domanico and Larry Nash were there as was Tom and Robben Ford did the same kind of lead lines they did later in the L.A. Express days. This was an amzaing concert and had jazz and sort of "funky" stuff like Monk tune types of music. And this reputation and discussion among my peers (the young people in particular) about Tom and what he was doing was relentless, there never was much time that went by when people did not bring up Tom and his adventures. So, naturally I got a hold of everything recorded by the guy and went to his band's shows as much as I could. Tom was always an inspiration, and I can see he has that joyous personality that comes from a life doing something you love and doing it really well. It should also be mentioned that many of the people I hung out with or studied with were epic studio musicians, and they all knew Tom, or Chuck, or Robben, and they told many great stories just like Tom does here. Glen Campbell's name came up a ton. Marty Paich's name came up a ton. If you only have the older Tom Scott stuff please, please get some of his newer stuff, it's fantastic, and he really shows the deep quality of which he is capable and of course the epic ability he has to play woodwinds.

I had Streamlines on my turntable earlier this week. Perfect album. I used to listen to that album daily when I worked at a record store in Minnesota in '87-88.

One of my all time favourite saxophone players. Great melodic player. Not surprised to learn he was heavily influenced by Cannonball Adderley - an incredibly under-rated superstar from the early days of post swing jazz.

      @@TheSessionsPanel Done!
I wish he had discussed the best rhythm section he ever had:
      Steve Gadd
      Eric Gale
      Ralph Mcdonald
      Richard Tee
      Damm son!
BTW does Tom has a YT Channel?

Again a brilliant interview Dom! Tom Scott and his different band constellations was always such a big inspiration. Got his "Apple Juice" LP when I was 16 with Steve Gadd on drums and I literally wore it out.

Tom Scott. Top musician. Such a great sound. This channel is excellent, the presenter is genuinely enthusiastic & interested in whomever he is interviewing. He listens & asks relevant questions to keep the interview moving along. I love listening to the musicians talking about their craft just as much as listening to their music. Top stuff. Thanks for uploading!

Love this channel! Where else can one find interviews with all these great session musicians; my music heroes really. But the interview is way too formulated. I mean how do you interview the great Tom Scott (shoutout to our shared alma mater Grant High!) and not talk about the LA Express tour with George Harrison? Mortally disappointed.
