    As long as bikes like this are available people that can't afford a lot can still enjoy the experience.

    A guy I know told me the biggest bike a beginner needs is a 750. I bought a 93 honda shadow 1100. 35k miles for $900. She's a sweet ol girl

    You're absolutely right about buying a Honda Shadow for a starter bike. I bought a 1984 VT700C for $1400.00 in 1997 and sold it in 2013 for $1700.00 - Put a tune up on her, a set of tires and brakes, kept up on the oil changes and rode her everywhere. One of the best owner experiences I've had with a motorcycle. So much so, in 2017 I bought a 1999 Shadow VT1100 Ace Toure. Awesome Bike!!

    No indicating in this video either.. I've been watching your videos for years now. And you really need to start doing that man. I've been riding myself for six years now & people not indicating is downright dangerous. Just a thought.. Stay safe!!

    Was actually gonna go pickup an 02 shadow 600 today for my first bike and strolled across this video. Made me want the bike even more, I rode around on a vintage 2 stroke honda aero 50 for a while and I cant stop buying hondas lol this probably my 5th or 6th so far. I love the way the rear fender looks on these bikes

    I came here for the Motorcycles but I also love the words of wisdom. My neighbour had a Honda Shadow. It fit me good. I was concerned about the weight. I’m interested in either the new Honda Rebel or the Harley Street.

    I actually just came across your guys TH-cam channel the other night while watching zx14r video's and really liked it! I also then realised you guys are local to me and looked up where at your business is and I really would like to come meet you guys and maybe in the near future buy a bike from your shop! But after watching the first two minutes of this video I became even more of a fan after you said about starting the day off right with the Lord's word and I now know I definitely need to come see you guys in the near future awesome start to a video!

    I got an R6 for the first time on the street after aceing MSF with the Honda Rebel. I must have never broke 8k RPM for days then eventually 10k. Then eventaully 12k but then I had RPM issues.. had to change spark plugs and the full RPM band came to life. Looking down and seeing triple digits is cool.

    I bought a new rebel 500 as my first bike about a year ago. While I love that bike, I do kind of wish that I had listened to this advice. I guess it's tried and true advice for a reason. I'd probably be considering what bike to upgrade to right about now instead of wishing that I could upgrade. I'm locked into a financing plan. Whatever... still love my rebel...

      Hey. Im 5'7" myself. its prefect to learn on. It's small but not too small to get the feel of riding and gain experience.
      Like i posted above, buy one for like $1500 or less then sell it for the exact same price to put toward a new bike.

    • @just-dl
      @just-dl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Glad to hear that I'm not alone in this one! I'm partial to a couple of other (larger) bikes, but, I like the idea of a cheap "trainer." I've ridden before, but, it's been years...and like with a bicycle...you never forget how to fall down! :-) (rather do that on a $1500 bike than an $10,000 one....)

      I have a harley fatboy and 1985 Honda rebel, that was 25 years old and ran like a top.
      Don't take the rebel in the highway, it doesn't have the power to blend in. Stay on regular streets and just ride. Don't listen to people who talk trash about it, the experience you gain will absolutely help you safely step up to a bigger bike when you're ready. Hell, you can outgrow that bike in a month or 2and the knowledge and experience gained is still 100% worth it. Just my 2 cents

    My sportster 1200 was the best first bike I ever had. Nothing like getting on and hearing a bunch of cranking and then a roar into life. The stupid thing leaked everywhere, and whenever I went on ANY trip over 80 miles it would leave me working on it in the parking lot of a standard oil or some other gas station. I WILL NEVER buy a Harley again. I’ve seen Yamahas and Honda’s twice as old that run perfect and never break down. And the sporty was only 10 years old and had 20,000 miles.

    1100 asafirst bike? Eh. For somebody who's ridden dirt bikes, or at least sport quads and knows how the clutch and, shifting and braking works, maybe. For most people with no experience, even the 750 Shadow is a lot of bike.
