    If Rudy guards the corner or if the jazz go small it’s gonna be a conga line to the basket, especially when Luka comes back. They kinda have to pick their poison on whether they wanna keep giving up the corner threes and protect the paint or stop the threes and open up more driving lanes. The main problem is the jazz perimeter defense. None of them can keep Brunson or Dinwiddie in front of them and it’s just gonna get much worse when Luka comes back.

    • @frederikbrandt424

      Jazz needs to pray that the mavs, and especially Kleber, goes cold from 3. If he keeps shooting like this then the jazz can’t play Gobert and they’re absolutely finished.

      exactly thats what the mavs planned for all this while , set the perimeters shooter at corner let the dribbler do iso 1 v 1, either u get exposed 1 v 1 in the paint or u get exposed in the perimeter by shooters. yes jazz cant switch defense quickly , they can only choose to give up the paint or give up the perimeter . if both end working for mavs normally , it is really hard to dealt with. @@Someguy8822 This is the problem. Not only that, but did you see how brunson was able to make gobert dance in the paint with his ball handling? Now imagine what luka would do to gobert on a switch, which luka is very good at hunting. Gobert will prevent easy layups from luka sure, but luka can make him dance and then create plenty of space for an easy midrange jumper. So ultimately with or without gobert on the floor, mavs will have great offense it seems to me. Which means jazz must optimize their offense, and small ball gives them the best offense it seems.

      Honestly, Gobert isn't the issue on D (I'd agree that he's not great on offense); the Jazz's main issue is perimeter D, as in they don't have any. Mitchell and Clarkson just suck at it, Conley is declining quickly, Bojan is ok, but too slow. Mitchell and Clarkson are pulling a Lebron so far: they give up more points than they make.

Serves as precaution so that he doesn't reinjury himself from rushing to play and he needs the rest as well cause they need him to be heathly throughout their playoff run.

      Brunson and Spencer will kill a small ball lineup without Gobert even if Luka doesn't play. Jazz came back without Gobert but that was just a run and Mavs needed to adjust. If they sit Gobert... it's not like the rest of the Jazz players are going to defend! 🤣🤣🤣 Connally used to be a good defender but he's lost a step. Donovan and Clarkson just play offense.

    • @nate_w13
      @nate_w13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@just_some_southeast_asian_guy I get that, but there's also a few decent reasons for him to play, like wanting to keep momentum and end the series as soon as possible, as well as getting him some real gametime before the second round, if that's where the mavs go. But ultimately I trust the mavs training staff, if they let Luka go I trust it's because they are 100% sure he's ok to do it.

    If they’re struggling so much to play man, they should try some sort of zone defense like 1-3-1 or 2-3 to keep Rudy by the basket. There are easy ways to attack zone defenses, but it seems like a better defense than man for them so they aren’t giving up easy layups and corner 3s.

    Gobert is assigned to protect the rim because he is the best rim protector. If he contest three points by a small ball center, no ones gonna guard the paint or even rebound the ball. Jazz need better perimeter defenders because no one can stay in front of their man. They can get pass the defender and straight to the rim, Rudy has no choice but to protect the rim.
