    Jalen Brunson was the most consistent player in this series and the big X-factor for Dallas winning the series. However, Finney-Smith individual perimeter defense was the biggest key on Mitchell to take him out of his rhythm. Finney Smith was great for Dallas along w JB

      The way he stepped up the first 3 games without Luka, he deserves to be player of the series for the Mavs easily. I love how quick he moves into the paint. He's like an annoying little fly, now you see him now you don't.

    Jalen Brunson averaged 27.8ppg/4.2apg/4.8rpg in 6 games against the Jazz. Played an instrumental role in taking Mavs past 50 wins in the regular season and he was not even in conversation for the Most Improved Player. About time we put some respect on his name!

    "they got rudy runnin around like a chicken with his head cut off" pretty much sums up his defense in this series. Yes yes the jazz perimeter defense wasn't great...in the first 3 games. But games 4, 5 and 6 they really stepped it up, especially bogi who took on the challenge of luka. Didn't matter tho, cuz luka makes any and all defenders look foolish. That's why he had bogi flopping so hard in game 4. And gobert was just a castaway on that island.

    what i took away from this series as a huge Mavericks fan is that Jordan Clarkson is an absolute baller. He needs to be starter with Mitchell and they can trade Conley and get another younger backup player. that is what i would do. Rudy is really good too, i do not blame him for anything in this series. He clogged the paint at the end and played great defense giving Utah a chance to tie/win..... so you cannot blame him for this AT ALL. He played a great series - but coaching decisions did not help him out.

    • @thar768
      @thar768 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Clarkson shines when he has the green light to shoot, but in a starter lineup hes limited to take shots, iso, or just stand on the perimeter. Conley probaly is not on Utah next season(with Ainge we'll probaly see a undervalued PG or draft one on the roster), and we saw Gobert defend better from perimeter than some jazz players, hell he even contested more shots than Spidaa.

    • @jon8958
      @jon8958 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Conley's no longer what he was before. He can't consistently contribute enough points, instead he was having a hard time of his turnovers. Also, Snyder should know this better, since this kind of season happened before, but then he didn't change his style. He always kept his starting 5 in the last minutes of the game even though some of them struggled. If he kept this kind of coaching, I don't see Jazz in any Finals nor winning any chip at all.

They blew a 3-1 lead in the bubble, and they blew a 2-0 lead by losing 4 straight without Kawhi in the last 2 games and blew a 25 point lead in the second half of game 6, and now they lose to the Mavs without Luka for a couple of games, made no adjustments throughout the series, and have Mike Conley choke by traveling and then have a wide open Bojan Bogdonvich choke a wide open three.

THose are pretty hard choices. He always meets Luka because a 2 point floater is always a higher percentage than a three but then again the Mavs shot them out of this series. The Jazz need like 2 Jeremi Grants on their roster. Their lacking long athletic switchable wings that can guard other teams top players effectively, finish in open court & shoot the open 3.
    Right now their Defense revolves around funnelling everything to Gobert, which works in the regular season; but in the postseason in this era of the 3ball that strategy can easily be exploited. Gobert himself isn't the problem. He does his job patrolling the paint just fine. It's the philosophy of the Defense that has to be upgraded. You have to acknowledge guarding the perimeter & making offense difficult for star players out there. They're doomed to continue to fail until that is addressed.

    • @Smido83
      @Smido83 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jup, exactly my point! Utah needs a great PG defender (Conley is just not good anymore) and a great wing defender (O'Neals is just average) as well as one more good bench 3&D guy. Grant would be perfect. But I am pretty sure Detroit wants more then Conley+ future 1st for him. Schröder would be a good PG for defensive reasons, but his offense (specially his shooting) is not that great. Same is true for Rubio.
      Its not easy, cause the Jazz dont have that many assets. But Gorbert/Mitchell are a good core to start, so they shouldnt blow the team up.

    In terms of their options for moves, it's definitely tricky, but I think you have to change your coach as a first priority. This team isn't actually that bad, but they not adjusting to postseason play very well. I would look to move Gobert if I could, but only if return is worthwhile. Have to look for more agile wing defenders though, so that you can play small effectively when you need to in the postseason. Like Shaq's point about Gobert's offense. He needs more moves and if he can't develop them, you have to look to trade.

    2nd yr in a row Mitchell doesn’t get to take the closing shot to win an exiting playoff game. I wanna say Conley had the ball last yr too

      Donovan sucked it up last half of the year and in the playoffs so he needs to take a look in the mirror

    It's hard to stop Dallas on the perimeter. Luka and Brunson are unrelenting on their drives collapsing the defence.
