    These are my opinions of the steam deck after 2 years. I know many have different opinions, and I respect them, so please I expect the same. I am not a hater; I am a consumer, and as one, I will give you my personal experience. If you will debate on it, do it in a respectful way.

    The Steam Deck is something I was just never too interested in. I always thought if I was gonna play PC games I'll just play them on a PC at home

      We already have portable pc before the Deck came out. It's called a laptop and you don't have to worry about games being compatible to play it.

      Yeah that what i got, but im going more into the mobility not being tethered onto a charging cable. I got a msi laptop really strong, battery wise garbo.

    Same here. I have barely turned mine on. Been too busy with PS5 and switch to bother!

      yup, I just found a buyer for it I'm better off with a arbanic console, that at least i know it will get played.

      This. I have so much fun with my PS5 I haven't been playing anything else!

    Man. The Steam Deck.. The SWITCH Killer. Or so they thought. I had one of these bad boys and at first it was amazing. I synced up my buddy's steam account and got hundreds of games and it was really cool.... Even turned it into an emulation powerhouse with all the old school games. Then it started getting hot, super hot. Hurt my lap sometimes when I sat it down. It also was pretty big and bulky compared to a Switch or Switch Lite. I found myself never playing it and only leaving it docked.

    Unpopular opinion: Those China Handheld Consoles with all the bootleg as F ROMs are the switch killer. Like the Abernic and the MiyooMiniPlus

    • @RetroComplex

      That what im planning to get.

      I got the Miyoo Mini Plus and it lives in my pocket lol. I recommend it with OnionOS.

    I have one. I barley play it so it mostly collects dust. Like you said if the battery was better then I would play it a lot more.

    Modern Day Gamegear sounds like. I can't justify the purchase when i have a computer.

    • @RetroComplex

      Yooooo yes exactly lol I use to have one that would eat my batteries like nothing.

    Bro I have both the original and the OLED models. I agree with your thoughts on the original but the OLED has such a better battery still it depends on the game you are playing. (I get about 3-4 hrs on Hell Divers 2 but on the other hand I get about 10-12 hrs on Coromon so its a huge variation depending on the game) lol. I understand and respect your opinion from the experience of the first one. I bought a external battery to fix the first one and the run time I was telling you was the OLED without it. Personally I maybe have fallen on the otherside of the fence. My Switch has been getting dust but I have a funny feeling that if I would have not gotten a OLED model I would would've been in the same camp as you. I play alot of game that are less demanding than you too but the experience of the original without an external battery had alot to be desired. I think i got about 6-8 hrs on Coromon (with perfected settings) and didn't even think to load Hell Divers 2 because I know would've been disappointed with the battery life from games I had tested prior. I do want to throw out there that this is also coming from a guy that used Linux on most of his computers so I do get the added benefit of having a computer with me at all times which is nice and I am happy the Valve has stepped in and pushed the needle for gaming on Linux more easily for most users. (Because I am not a fan of the direction Windows has taken in their business practices.)
    But honestly Ken I do respect your opinion on the device from your experience. Original just wasn't a great "portable" device do to you primarily having to always be tethered to the wire. From my use case it didn't affect me as much because carry a USB C charger, battery and cables in my EDC but I do know and agree of the pitfalls of the original device. OLED is way better but it honestly depends on the use case.
    Lol not angry and respect your opinion. Wish the OLED was the first release because it has a better battery but I would say wait to what the next generation holds from Steam instead of buying the OLED in your case bro. If it improves from the OLED in battery or even keeps the same battery but is able to play games at higher framerates I believe you would be more impressed. But the OLED model would be an incremental update. (same performance but better battery, wifi, and screen)
    Good video though bro I was wondering about if you still used the deck or not. Although my opinion is different due to my way of using it. I understand and respect it bro. No hate from me. 😊👍

      I just saw the oled one didn't even know existed, but I already got a buyer for the og one lol I hate to see a console not getting the use it need. I should have waited, but i gave into the fomo.

    • @frostbyte11
      @frostbyte11 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RetroComplex Yup I bet your were alittle surprise to see that lol. Like I said bro. I wish the OLED was first model but I guess they at least started at a good enough baseline and improved upon it pretty well with the OLED. I just don't think the OLED for your use case I would be worth the purchase because it would be same performance but better everything else. Unless your only complaint was the battery wait for the next gen. Although I would say that the Steam deck OLED one of the best PC handheld console I still would say it depends on what the person wants out of it.

    • @RetroComplex
      @RetroComplex  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @frostbyte11 i will wait to see for a second gen of it for now. There is no point for me I can play on my pc or laptop lol

    See oddly I use mine but I use it more for indy games and emulation on the go, I don't really do AAA games on it unless I have it hooked up to my TV downstairs where its just not connivant to have my PC hooked up. I like it as a companion piece for my PC but it was NEVER going to be a Switch killer. I told people that from the jump.

  • @PKInTheUniverse
    @PKInTheUniverse 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Yeah, I’m glad I never bought one. I’d rather just play my games on my PC honestly if I’m gonna do that. I find myself playing more Evercade and Nintendo consoles, and my PS3 more lately than anything.

    • @RetroComplex
      @RetroComplex  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      And i know we can hack the console for retro games, but for that, I just get an arbanic handheld and put onion os system on it.
