  • As part of our cruise through the Mediterranean on the MSC Meraviglia, we stopped in the port city of Marseilles, France. There are several ways to get into the city and it's important that you have a plan in advance! #msccruise #cruiseship #marseille

    That’s a good tip to know. So up early and take the first bus you see. To be honest I’m the person who generally doesn’t leave the ship. Port days mean the ship is mostly empty and more quite time for relaxation.😆👍 thank you for sharing your learning experiences; you’re the BEST! Have a great rest of your week.

    I'm pretty sure the MSC shuttle is €15 round-trip.

      Yes, I was on the Meraviglia till yesterday too, in Copenhagen we took the shuttle bus and it took us to the important sights and then we could explore on our own, without having to buy a ticket to get back to the ship

      Thanks! Do you happen to have the schedule? Esp the first and last bus and roughly how often? Thanks again!

    There is always that risk when you self excursion, but man it is so worth it sometimes!! We did Rome via train and did the tour of the Vatican. Saved hundreds of dollars and no super long bumpy bus ride.
    We would’ve done the exact same thing you both did, down to missing the bus. Lol. Im sure you will be back someday!!

    When I went to Marseilles in 2017 with NCL on the Epic I think we paid $20 USD return for the NCL Shuttle to the city centre.

    What time did you dock in Marseilles ? Thanks for showing us the free route as it is good to check out all options for transportation when you reach a port. We were in San Juan last month and since the taxi's were right at the end of the walkway we took one to our destination. Much later we found out that San Juan has Uber and we could of cut our transportation bill in half if we had used them !

      We got there early in the morning, sorry I don't remember the exact time! We definitely could have left the ship earlier, but I think we slept late and took a lot of time to eat breakfast :-P

    Seems like if the city of Marseilles valued tourists they would allocate more buses for taking them into the city. When we were there last year we took a taxi but that was only because I didn't know there was a free bus. Sorry you didn't get to see the city but now you have an excuse to take another cruise to France in the future!

    5 miles isn't that bad. I walked longer than that from Bahrain's cruise point to the city. It was at least 3 hours one direction.

    Oh I’m so glad u did that because it has given me a kick up the backside to make sure I’m organised in Marseille port . I have every other stop sorted but just presumed Marseille would be close to the centre . Uh oh I better get onto this . There are five of us so it may be better for us to book a taxi ??? How do I go about doing THAT?

      Sorry, I don’t know :-/. Maybe google taxi port Marseille? That’s what I would do/ should have done!

    Sounds like you did the same itinerary that is me and my wife did. Much preferred Genoa to Marseille. Much nicer city, and I really didn't like the way they had the bus set up from the cruise terminal into the city in Marseille.

    I can't understand how you did not plan ahead. I just went there(HAL). We purchased city tour for $80; no regrets at all. There was a $15 r/t shuttle from the terminal.

      It seems like he didn't know the right information and thought it would eventually work out. At least we get to learn from him. I know I have lol

    So many naysayers! Because he chose to stay on the ship, he was able to film all the upcoming videos that he wouldn’t have been able to if he went into the city.

    • @1gr8chef123
      @1gr8chef123 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      SO, is he traveling for himself OR the channel??

    • @ianbarnes1274
      @ianbarnes1274 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      1gr8chef123 For The Channel, hence why he skipped a port day to film the ship rather than waste time traveling in and out of the city and not being able to film much there plus missing out on the ship-filming time he gained by staying back.

      As opposed to paying nothing and walking around aimlessly in an industrial area! Defiantly devalues the price of the cruise!!

    • @1gr8chef123
      @1gr8chef123 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still, $60, in the grand scheme of a lifetime is nothing!! If you don’t want to spend a penny, why are you traveling??
