This was a wholesome video to watch - your energy was radiating out of the screen. Also, I really want to appreciate you for putting in the effort to reply to every single comment on this video - most creators don’t do that. 🥺 Stay happy!
I am slowly slowly slowly building up to monetization. It is an emotional rollercoaster!! I have 700 subscribers but less than 2k watch hours. Trusting the process....😂
This was so refreshing to watch. I've been thinking of filming a video like this on my channel. I've been monetized for a few years now (started my channel in 2016, met the old monetization reqs, got hit by the Great Demonetization when the changed the reqs, then finally met the new reqs and got monetized again). I primarily make writing focused vlogs in the writer/authortube space, so not a super popular niche. TH-cam is indeed very fickle. My revenue started going up last summer, peaked at about $150/month in September and then started slowly going down throughout the autumn. December was just $95. This was (milldly) disappointing because in the US there's a $100 threshold to meet before YT releases payment, so that was the first month in the previous 5 that I didn't meet that threshold. Just as you start to get used to something or sense a pattern, it can change. I thought December would be a big month because I did Vlogmas and was releasing a video every day. Watch time and views were up but CPM and RPM were way lower than previous months. That's continued into 2023. So far this year I've been averaging $50/month. Which is fine, I don't do this for the money, but it does prove your point that YT is fickle and unless you're getting hundreds of thousands or millions of views and a ton of watch time, you're not going to make a high value of steady income. Unfortunately a lot of creators get pulled in by analytics focused videos that make it look easy to get monetized and make money when the reality is some people will spend months or years just getting monetized and then still won't earn that much. Creators can burnout fast if revenue is their main goal. I started my channel as a hobby and now I'm just happy that my hobby makes me a little bit of money each year and can pay for things like my Epidemic Sound subscription or a new vlogging camera. Anway, sorry for the long comment. I've been watching since the London flat tour (I love London content lol). Just thought I'd share my experience as a fellow small creator in a different niche. It was interesting to see how our revenue lined up. I have about 3.6k subscribers, so a similar size channel. :)
Very insightful! Thanks for sharing your personal experience, Andrea. I'm considering starting out myself and have been watching a LOT of videos on this now.
@@MarkingIt starting my channel 7 years ago was the best thing. My only regret is not starting sooner. But the revenue is a bonus, not my driving motivation. ☺️
super interesting, thank you so much for sharing Andrea 💘 particularly interesting about vlogmas as well, i always wonder if i was able to post more, how much of a difference it could make 🤔 loved reading your comment !! wishing you all the best with your videos, and i hope they continue to be a hobby that brings you joy (even if the analytics is fickle) ✨
i am on a youtube analytics research kick and just stumbled across your page. the design/editing and your vibe are INCREDIBLE. you really stand out georgia - im rooting for you!! hoping 2024 brings major growth for you, keep doing your thing
I love this Georgia! My exact sentiments as well -why I started my youtube channel. Working in healthcare so draining that I just needed some creative outlet. And the same, I love watching your vidoes bc its lowkey like catching up with a friend! This excites me and motivates me to make more videos, not because of the clout but just the feeling of creating something. All the best, G x
Also, can I just say, your editing and creative skills are *chefs kiss*! The fonts, the transitions... and you looo very comfortable talking in front of the cam x Well done ❤
aaaah, i’m so glad this resonated with you & thank you for your kind words !! wishing you all the best with your channel and i hope it continues to be a creative outlet for you 💘
I just want to say I’m so glad you started a TH-cam channel. I’ve been watching design content on here since I was in college, so well over a decade by now🤣. It’s been great to see so many of the creators grow, but as my own career has grown I don’t find many people focusing on what I do, which is also strategic design. I know that isn’t exclusively what your content here is about, but when you do share about that I really enjoy it. I’ve been self employed since 2017 and love it, but one of the things Ive challenged myself to do more this year is to talk more about what I do. Listening to you speak on your work has helped me a lot to think of how I’d like to discuss my own. Doing these things for others/ clients is easy, but doing it for myself was always much more difficult. I think that’s probably true for many creatives. Thanks for sharing what you do and I hope you continue to grow and most of all continue to enjoy creating here!
hello !! i love meeting other strategic designer’s, i’m so glad you’re here 👋 that’s a great challenge you’ve set for yourself, i’m really glad i started putting my thoughts down and i hope you find the right outlet to do it too ✨ thank so much for your support 💘

I hope to see many more videos in the future. 💐🤗 Love from germany, H. 😊

Hello from NYC! This video really inspired me, Georgia. After watching 2+ hours of videos on how to get started becoming a TH-camr, the simplicity and overall feel of this one really resonated with me and I just want to say thanks and keep up the good work!
this was super interesting! maybe you could do a video condensing the info you got from all that binge watching videos about making videos? or just your experience as a small creator in the first year or so of your channel - what works, what doesn't, what you'd do differently, etc. that would be so helpful for anyone starting out ! xx
@@georgiadoust I think you are talented and I love to watch your videos for inspiration. I especially go back often to your Oslo travel video - it is very comforting to me. Have a lovely week :)

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 5 months ago about self development. Now I have 343 subs and almost > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
Hello fellow London TH-camrs :) I love your colleague's advice - I feel like whenever people bind their entire identify to work it can quickly lead to burn out / feeling overwhelmed. Well done on making it this far, love your videos and subscribed to follow the journey. Let me know if you ever want to get a coffee together to talk video making and so on!
you are so inspiring...I've been 3 weeks and I'm trying to share my journey of paying off $124k of debt in just 16 months back in 2020 and I have remained focused towards retirement goal and increased rental property and maintain modest lifestyle financially and became a minimalist... 71 subscribers and 55 video..mostly shorts, but I really just can't figure this thing out because I want to share that journey to hope others could use to help them❤❤❤

@georgiadoust Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my TH-cam channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a TH-camr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this TH-cam thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)
Hi, thanks for the information..if someone just views for example one minute of the video or skips parts of it, does it still count as a view? and if the same person watches the video more than once, does it still count as one view? Thanks
hey there, thanks for watching :) I'm not totally sure about this but I believe if they watch for at least 30 seconds it counts as a view! When it comes to refreshing, I'm pretty sure youtube would think it's a bot and probably not count those views? But not 100% sure so if anyone else has a response, drop it here :)
Do you get paid from this back in Australia? I want to start a channel / side hustle but assumed I couldn't earn money while on a visa in the UK, but maybe I can in a business account in Oz? Obvs won't take your word as gospel but would be a good reference!
adsense/youtube pays me in the uk :) however, i set it up back home so it was initially going to pay to my australian account but i switched it over to the uk (so i guess theoretically you could make it work?) but they also send a code to your mailing address so yeah not too sure, could get tricky 🤗 all the best for starting your channel !!
