      Tweaked my TH-cam account yesterday 😉, so it should be fine from now on.

    If I would to name the most important Mirroring Principle dogmas it would be:
    1. Rotation is the most powerful move in BJJ (been able to rotate and control opponent’s ability to rotate is a key)
    2. The one who moves first looses (which means you need to use counter rotation)

    Thank you sir for all the precious principles you share with us!

    Main takeaway for me is "he who initiates the transition first loses". Also moving in a way that doesn't compromise posture/structure, and paying more attention to how we "connect" to our opponents through frames/grips.

    hello wim, great video, what I take away from this is, where the head goes the body goes, and that got me thinking, about structure, @ 3.36 your opponent stops rotating, because he has too much tension, his nose is pointing to almost 9 o'clock, what would happen if he released your right arm, and turned his nose to 6 O'clock?

    • @WimDeputterBJJ
      @WimDeputterBJJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 3:36 the video is over. So I'm not really sure what you mean.

      @@KnowPorcelain1 sorry Peter, but your question doesn't make sense to me.
      My opponent is look at 3'o-clock, not 9. 6'o-clock would be straight forward and then there is no rotation.
      My opponent can't rotate further there because of the way I distribute my weight.

    • @KnowPorcelain1
      @KnowPorcelain1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WimDeputterBJJ my clock was as a watcher, your opponent had too much tension to rotate any further, had he relaxed and continued his head rotation, his body would have followed, relaxing his grip on your right arm, he would have rotated you

    • @WimDeputterBJJ
      @WimDeputterBJJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KnowPorcelain1 Ok I see.
      If I keep my weight centered, he will still not be able to sweep me. If he rotates too far, I can still go for the smash pass / leg drag as shown later in the video.

  • @KnowPorcelain1
    @KnowPorcelain1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    don't get me wrong Wim, but my motto is never give up, question everything, stop moving, you stop thinking, I am always looking for the counter, always looking for an out, question everything.

    • @WimDeputterBJJ
      @WimDeputterBJJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can question everything no worries.
      To adress your last question...
      If the opponent rotates further, the person on doubt will get swept, if his weight is off center. If the person on top has his weight centered, the result will be exactly the same as is shown in the video.
      Furthermore, if the person on the bottom releases the grip, the person on top can post his hand or at least the elbow in case he does get put out of balance.
