Mindfull Jiu Jitsu in Competition 3 divisions, 8 fights, 8 wins, 0 nerves These are my matches from Grappling Industries Brussels November 2024. Everyone who has ever competed knows the feeling; on training, you know, so many "techniques", you have such a broad game, and yet when it's time to compete, you seem to have forgotten everything. We call it tunnel vision. Ever since I started competin...

Hes had enough 😂
Great clear instructions. Please eliminate the music, your content is excellent without the distraction of music.
In escapes, it is always about being able to rotate. Well done video!
Thank you 🙏
as defender in the grip fight do you generally recommend just having one grip on the choking hand and using the other hand to fight the hooks?
If possible, I prefer to keep my chin and shoulders tucked. Defend my neck with shoulders, keep my elbows to my hips and use my hands to gripfight or fight the hooks. The moment I need my hands to defend my neck... not good 😊
this changed my entire mindset about ju jitsu. can you do a video on the fundamentals of your lifting program you have discovered related to carrying heavy things and walking around with them?
Thanks a lot! I use ATG (knees over toes). It has many programs. Really amazing system / app. I can't really make a video about, as I would just be repeating their information.

Idk i really wanna join but I know nothing so I could do nothing there and im scared bec evryone is better as me probaly
You come to us for the experience. Everyone started as a beginner. Trust me, you won't be the only one on our mat. Always welcome!
@@WimDeputterBJJ yeah but I live not so close to Leuven and Il 14 so idk which training to join and i dont have the clothes for it
Excellent!!!
Thanks 😊🙏
Aye this was a good break down, got my sub for sure
🙏🙏
Ahhh I still need to learn them better 🥲I jus be suffocating my opponent but not choking them .darce chokes are my signature move
Cool 😊
Full ! Do you fight with closed eyes ?
I do yes! Better feeling, less eyepokes 😊 Posted: th-cam.com/video/o1b3du_kpYE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=aQwmbb2eLwO9nrNt

Your ability to get and maintain inside position is remarkable. Only in the last match your opponent would fight for that underhook, all the others just settled for overhook as a countermeasure and that is just not equal in terms of established control. This “half-guard as single leg” game of yours became more sophisticated over the years, but I still see the bits you taught like 5 or 6 years ago on a seminar. One thing I find particularly interesting is that you never worry for a crossface when going for deep half. I always fought that and when I happen to teach occasionally told to do so to others - it’s essentially giving up some of your inside position, which is never a good thing, but I assume you’re doing something I’m probably not seeing to be unfazed by a crossface. I mean, I see that you’re still on your side and not flattened on your shoulder blades (which would be the worst) and you’ve rounded up as much as possible, but is it all there is to it?
Half guard the most powerful position in jiujitsu ❤
Definately the most accesible guard. But know this... I don't play half guard because I want to, but because I have to 😊
Lots of love from Dree S27 Spets ❤❤❤
🤜🤛😊🙏
Great breakdown!
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
What was the sub? You pulled his face up? 👊🏾
A lot of pressure on the hips and diaphragm
Congrats Wim. Amazing breakdown as always.
Thanks Vijay and my pleasure 🙏
I feel like that cross-body back ride is a better control position than two hooks. It’s a shame it doesn’t get you points.
For control it is definitely better. But it is difficult to the subjects. Points are often not really logical. Why no points for body triangle for example?
True. And in terms of hip control one inside hook and the other outside (under the knee) is much tighter control as well than 2 hooks inside. If I cannot lock body triangle after I get my points, I usually go for that as second best option. I agree, points system is weird, but all we could do at this point is use it to our advantage as much as possible.
Long live the Empire! 😆 Great match, congrats Wim!
😄😄 thanks man!
Ahah that look like my half guard match but in a much better way 😂😂
I just remenber watching a séminaire you did . Game changer for me. Give me confidence on my game .
Awesome to hear! Where was this seminar and when? 😊
Prachtig!
Merci 😊🙏

So we’re lying
What do you mean?
@ that takedown was not amazing
Ok
Beautiful Wim, as in the training room 💪👍
🙏🙏🙏 thanks man!
You have nice deep half game and the opponents didn’t have the knowledge to deal with it and the lockdown
Thanks a lot 😊🙏
To be honest I am a bit sad that you won my trainer haha. But you’re very impressive, beautiful strategy, big fan. Good job.
Thanks man! Who is your coach?

So at 30:00 did that guy tap to lockdown? lol
He got injured unfortunately, torn acl. It was bad. I wasn't going for any lock yet.😢 What happened was the following. I set up the sweep from the lockdown almost fully. When you fully come up however, you end up in their guard. When I have the sweep, I go back and sweep the opposite (far) side, when they come up, you can unentangle and pass right away for 3 points. This happened exactly in the next match. Watch the sequence at 33:20. I get my 2 sweep points at 33:31. At 33:33 I go back down ("sweep him to my right side"). Opponent reacts by coming up. I unentangle and go straight to side control and get passing points (because technically I was in his guard on top when I got the two points.) The opponent at 30:00 however, turned away the wrong side and popped his knee. It was very weird, as I didn't feel a lot of pressure myself. I honestly think his knee was injured or at least unstable from before this match. I would never to this as an attempts to submit willingly in a local tournament.
It's sumi gaeshi, not tomoe :) (foot is placed in between the legs)

Your composure underneath your opponents is something to be admired. I've succumbed to those crossfaces and D'arce attempts myself. But that's what makes you a black belt competitor. You've decibel inspired me to stay gritty and not cave under pressure. Hope that guy who tapped to the lockdown didn't have any long term injuries. Congrats on the tournament, and thanks for putting the whole event up!
Thanks a lot man! I am happy to hear you got something out of it. The opponent with the lockdown got badly injured unfortunately. Torn acl. We have been in touch. I have describe in another comment what exactly happened. It was very unfortunate and never my goal.
Would love to see full match 😊
🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for Sharing this Wim . For how I see it , your half guard game is just pure Jiu-Jitsu . Is also very inspiring to watch . Lots of confidence escaping any sort of submission . Congratulations on this incredible performance , Oss. (Jack Tyley D'arce is so deadly I have no idea how you survived that )
Thank you so much Igor 🙏 I really appreciate your words and I'm glad it inspires you. Confidence in escapes and late game are the key to good jiu jitsu I believe if you are not a super athlete.

Hi Wim, in your first match with Jack, were any of his sumission attempts close enough to tap? Do you ever get caught in the training room? And do you ever visit the Uk for seminars and events? Many thanks
Hey Paul, thank you! All the darce attempts of Jack, where very tight and dangerous. If I would have extended myself at any point, there is a small chance I would have gotten out, but I would have put myself in a long defensive cycle at the very least. Very likely he would have been able to keep attached and make his darce even tighter, forcing me to tap. What saved me each time, was making myself even smaller, more concave shoulders / shoulder protraction and inverting. This was a development of the last two weeks before the match. Without that development, there is a high chance Jack would have tapped me. The tightest darce, was when I was on top. It was a very tight crank. Again, concave shoulders and protraction saved me. Jack could have held on longer I think, but I would not have tapped. I was 5 points ahead at that moment, he kinda was forced to try something else or double down on the darce. I haven't done any seminars in the UK for a while now. The last one was in 2016 at Renegade BJJ in Manchester I think. I am always willing to come if you want to set something up. UK is just a 2h train ride away 😊
@WimDeputterBJJ thanks for the insight. Your defence must be rock tight! I know how tough and skilful Jack is, so it was a very impressive displace of Jujitsu on your level. I've noticed your half guard is on offer on bjj fanatics, I'll pick it up and study it in depth. One last thing, in your opinion, which should I commit to more, gi or no-gi? Thanks
@paulrourke7442 Thanks a lot! My half guard instructional is really the best of the bunch I think 😊 If you ever need any help, just reach out. I do both about 50/50. That would be my advice. Sometimes the one attracts me more than the other, depending on what I am training. No Gi feels easier on the body lately. Defense is a lot easier I find. It doesn't really matter I think. Train what you enjoy most. Whatever keeps you on the mat.
Very impressive Wim
Awesome! Cool, calm & collected!
Thank you Marco 🙏
Jesus loves you all ❤

Thank you Joachim 🙏🙏🙏
Congratulations on your tournament performance Wim! I am working through your Quantum half guard material now and look forward to seeing it in action
Thanks a lot Doug for getting my instructional! This video can give valuable insight on how it looks in action. If you need help with anything in the instructional or if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask! 🙏
