    1) For a prepper do not supercharge! The reasons are as follows:
    A) one more thing to break, the complexity of the engine increases so the chance of something go wrong and
    B) this will lock you out of the gas alternatives which brings me to no2
    2) Gas engines have their multi fuel as well.
In fact the bio-gas is actually ethanol ( you will find in spirts like vodka ) and if you process it good enough to reach 97% than it will work instead of gas pretty well. More over the engine oil is much simpler to craft. I personally don't know how to home brew engine oil but google may know something about this.
    Safe driving!

Nice truck. We have an 18 year old Tacoma. We bought it new and it just keeps on running and it still looks brand new. It gets horrible gas mileage, but it has never had anything wrong with it in all these years. We of course have another vehicle as well that gets great gas mileage. It is nice to have a truck, even a little one, they are just so useful.

How about a four or six wheel trailer with all wheels powered by electric motors that can be switched on only when needed. Although it’s something that needs to be engineered by engineers it could actually improve your cross country ability instead of reduce it and maybe even improve your range if you can carry enough batteries and have an automated way of switching it on when needed say when climbing moderate inclines, accelerating and not just for the odd extreme obstacle. Also if you need to turn around in a confined space you could disconnect from the vehicle and controls could allow it to spin on the spot like a tracked vehicle.

My 2017 tundra 5.7L 4x4?extra cab gets 17-18 miles per gallon out of the 28K miles I have on it so far. This was done with a calculator and through every single fill up I have ever done with it. My dad and best friend have a 2015 Tacoma 4x4 Trd and they both get between 16 and 18 miles per gallon. They also spent right around $36,000 on their Tacoma's which is exactly what I spent on my tundra out the door. I would much rather have the extra 110 hp and comfort of the tundra versus that little Tacoma with no bed .
I don't know if they fixed it yet but since 2007 through 2017 Toyota has never addressed the fuel gauge problem. My dash can go all the way down to where it says I have 0 miles until empty and yet I can only fit 21 gallons in it at that point. That means it still has 5 gallons of gas in it when the gauge says 0 miles to empty. I was reading Toyota forums that day all the way back to 2007 when the tundra first came out and they were reporting the same thing Wayback then. The dealership tells me Toyota is not interested in fixing it.
I never cared for the look of the Tacoma anyway but I've always loved the look of the tundra. If you look at a regular bed four-door Tacoma the cab portion literally looks like it's exactly in the middle of the vehicle because the bed in the hood are roughly the same length. To me that looks stupid .
And I don't know why every single truck company has not adapted that built-in step that the Chevy Silverado has built into the rear bumper. That's just a no brainer .

At worst, it will require a battery disconnect/short-the-cables/reconnect and that's it. The Tundra is a nice truck that I'm sure you'll be happy with. I did the same thing - traded a Tacoma for a 1794 a couple years ago. I didn't particularly want the 1794 package (although it is nice) but I needed something a bit larger to tow with - immediately, and it had 5-6k on the odo as a certified pre-owned. Although it is probably fine, people do it all the time, I didn't want to roll right off the lot and tow a trailer across the country. As for "mods," the two I'd suggest doing is 1) Replacing the plastic oil filter housing (current generation Tundras went away from the traditional spin-on filter) with an aluminum one. The plastic is fine, but I just prefer the aluminum variant, and I have always done my own oil changes. On several of the Toyota forums, there is a bit of discussion about this, along with the appropriate part numbers, should you consider swapping this part. Of course, the special tool to safely/easily remove the housing is basically a must-have, either way, and if you don't change your own oil, make sure the person doing it has the tool. 2) A locking gas cap. Yea, it is a bit inconvenient at the pump to spend a few seconds every time to put in the key. I started using the locking gas caps about about a decade ago when the economy in the midwest USA got really bad, gas prices were high, and yes, gas theft became a problem. If someone really wanted to tamper with a gas tank, the locking cap wouldn't totally stop them...but it is a cheap barrier that might succeed in having them look elsewhere (in a group running from bears...you don't have to be the fastest, as the saying goes). Other than those two things, I added a cap for the back and installed a CB radio (Uniden Bearcat with firestick.) Because of the cap, mounting the antenna was a bit of a challenge, so I tried out a mount that basically bolts on in the same location, opposite of the factory radio antenna, and it worked out nicely. I changed out the factory fog light bulbs for aftermarket HID ones - EASY to do, BIG difference, and worth it. I also changed the headlight bulbs with premium aftermarket replacements, but with a marginal difference. It was a royal PITA to change the headlight bulbs, so I'm betting most people will wait until one bulb quits to fool with this, and replace it with whatever bulb puts off having to go through this process for the longest amount of time. This is getting to be a long post, so I'll keep the supercharger comment a bit short...I'd pass on it. The brakes are fine on the Tundra....but for someone who tows, lives in the mountains, or is a "spirited driver," I'd wager brakes would be an "area of opportunity" for premium aftermarket parts. I'd put my money in that area and following the maintenance schedule.

You ABSOLUTELY should SUPERCHARGE that beast! I have an idea for the small spaces under the diamondback tonneau cover. When you said you would maybe use metal. I thought if it was possible to hold them in using magnets 🧲, that would be cool. Not sure if it is possible though. Also, the solar panels on the roof is an interesting idea. If you want panels, maybe make them so they are rolled up until you deploy them. (Kinda like a window shade, but with some sort of frame that keeps them open to the sun.) It would be cool to have the option of using the rooftop solar panels, without worrying about damaging them if you need to haul gear on the roof. Congratulations on the new truck! 👍🏻

As far as building it, I see the perfect "bug out" vehicle to be built like a work utility truck. When I worked HVAC the boss' truck was all Gucci'ed out and he had probably 30 compartments in the area of the truck bed and there was space for two or three people to crouch back there. So go for a bunch of compartments on your Tundra but of course you've got to keep it looking normal. Dedicated compartments for specific prepper items would be the way to go.....

They have to upgrade to like a Ford F-250 that has a higher towing capacity. Just remember your truck will be able to tow a 10000 pound trailer but it will struggle they drove 80 miles and used a full tank of gas because there is too much weight so personally I wouldn't recommend doing over 9000 pounds they have the 5.7 liter V8

Nice Truck! I would skip the supercharging..recalibrate the on board computer... No factory vehicle comes out having proper suspension for any serious off roading. Your truck has a 3inch body lift, but looks like your drive train is still virtually stock height. Skid plate protection is a must, especially for the oil pan. Still a nice truck platform to work with, you could build it from the ground up into a beast. 👍

I wouldn't supercharge it. Imo tundra already makes plenty of power. By supercharging it, fuel economy will suffer, extra stress on powertrain, there fore reliability goes out the window in a long run

Could you go into the specifics on the trade in? Everyone says that Toyota Tacomas have "high trade in value" but you never know if they are front loading the deal by having an inflated sale price on the new vehicle. Numbers are truth.

I'm going with the HD cover for my Ram with the Front Runner Rack option to add a RTT, HD Headache Rack, and ATV Load Ramps when I want to swap out the Front Runner Racks for the ramps. To access the bed I'm going with the CargoGlide XL that comes with support legs as an option. For more storage options I'm looking at www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/storage-systems.html?p=9 that I will mount on a removable platform that sits on top of the cargoglide. Now due to the extra weight I'm going with Airlift 5000 and a roof rack option either by KC Hilites or the Rhino Back Bone Rack. I was sold on the HD cover for ATV transport. Oh and a LRAM 50 gallon extended tank.

For what you get in a Tacoma and its price you get so much more for your money out of a Tundra.
I personally believe the prices of Tacomas are about $10,000 over what they're actually worth.
Go to the Toyota dealership and see how much of a Tacoma you can get it for $36,000 out the door then go to the same dealership and see how much you can get with a $36,000 tundra out the door .
I can tell you that the minimum amount already and that 110 hp more from the tundra.
Much larger and more comfortable cab.
    Much larger bed .
Quieter interior at all levels of speed.
and the gas mileage is literally within 2 miles per gallon difference being that tundra being less

Congrats on the upgrade kinda figured you traded up from the last video noticed it was in it. Live the cover aswell but personally I prefer caps although not quite as secure but for situation perfect and I can cage the windows. Also as a tech my self sounds like a sin to the auto gods from my thought but for a daily driver I'd avoid it save on fuel and a little more reliable less likely to blow a head gasket if your beating on it but that being said zero judging if you do

Toyota Trucks are made in America by American workers. We used Toyota’s exclusively on overseas military real world deployments due to extreme mechanical reliability. Vehicle failure can lead to mission failure and service member fatalities. I don’t trust my life with any other truck.
