In the mid to late 80s, these two teams were a delight to watch. Great passing, unselfishness, and perfect execution. I wish, so bad, that the Jazz would've won at least one of those Finals against the Bulls. Preferably, both of them!
I Wish You Could Find That Game (playing the Jazz) Where Bird Was 1-Steal Away From Having Quadruple-Double. He Sat Out In The Last Quarter & Wouldn't Go Back In To Get That 1-Steal. Talk About NOT Chasing Stats, ha ha ha.
@@gailshepard-cook6350 Angel Reese and the double doubles, a stat nobody cares about until the media started pushing it as a legitimate statistic...and, as many trolls have observed numerous rebounds are her rebounding her own missed bunnies.
@@gailshepard-cook6350 I have a feeling you know what it means. It refers to a certain WNBA player who shamelessly and obviously chases stats to register “double doubles” even when the game is out of reach and another basket or rebound is meaningless.
I knew the Celtics lineup automatically because they played that same starting five for years, now you are lucky if they play at least 10 games together in one season.
This version of a young John STOCKTON, who was a blur, with blazing lightning fast speed and quickness , a LETHAL pure shooting stroke, & the ultimate of ultimate pure point guards, would AVERAGE 24 ASSISTS A GAME IN TODAY'S NBA IMO! WITH HIS ABILITY TO PENETRATE HE WOULD GENERATE TONS OF 3S PER GAME! [ NO mailman tho, everything is AIR CARGO 3PT DELIVERY]
Heartbreaking to watch this Celtic team without who would have been the next great star of the Celtics, Len Bias. Had Bias not died I believe the Celtics would have won the championship this 86-87 season too.
It really is ! It still really bothers me on so many levels. It did in 1986 when I was 12 and it actually bothers me more now than when I was younger cause like you said the late 80's to early 90's would have looked so so different if Len Bias hadn't died. So much would have changed. You just feel cheated out of so much ! I especially feel cheated when it comes to Bird vs Jordan. I needed more Celtics vs Bulls playoffs. Chance for Jordan to get some revenge for 86 and 87 and a chance for Larry to get #4 maybe #5 rings. Celtics vs Bulls should have been ECF in 91 and 92.
@@bryanburnap4537 And some 32 years later, and us Celtics fans finally got our modern day version of Bias and Lewis, with Brown and Tatum. @richardmahfouz4392, this was the 87-88 season, not 86-87. I actually felt like we had a better chance in this, the 87-88 season. In 87, we were so ridiculously banged up, and had a ton of pressure to repeat as champions, and in my opinion, the 87 Lakers were the greatest Laker team of all-time, and it was just their year, like 86 was our year, and everyone knew it from early in the season. In 87-88, we were a little healthier, a little deeper, and were a touch better on the road, but still not very good, at all, away from Boston Garden. We had Acres for a backup center, which was way better than Greg Kite, and also had rookies Reggie Lewis and Brad Lohaus, but as usual, KC Jones never found much time to play young guys. Later in the season, we would acquire veteran guards like Jim Paxson, and Dirk Minnifield, and added an old Artis Gilmore, which was still a big upgrade over Kite. I would've liked to see Darren Daye get the minutes backing up Bird and McHale, instead of that total stiff, Fred Roberts. We were tied 2-2 against Detroit in the ECF, after somehow winning a game in The Silverdome, and on track for another Finals against The Lakers, but we choked in Game 5, in Boston, and naturally had zero chance of winning a second road game back in Detroit, and that slammed the door shut for our championship window, as the next season would see Bird play just six games, and we stupidly traded away Danny Ainge, for two flat out stiffs, Joe Kleine and Ed Pinckney. I honestly think, had we played LA in the Finals in 88, we had a great shot to win. We'd be back in title contention in the early 90s, with the Big 3 still together and playing well, but a retooled backcourt, and bench. We had Shaw and Lewis at guard, and some solid bench depth with Kevin Gamble, Rick Fox, John Bagley, Dee Brown, Sherman Douglas, along with Pinckney and Kleine. They had the best record in the NBA, when Bird's back went out *again.* We got to the ECSF in 92, and took the Cavs to 7 games, and then that was the end of the Larry Bird era, and the end of the Boston Celtics, until 2008.

That would be a great upload.
We now call chasing stats "Reesing" 🤔🧐
