Im currently changing shaft and bearings myself and I cant find direct replacement bearings for my ahu. My question is do other mechanics take into consideration the static and dynamic load capacities, the maximum speeds (RPM), and temperature max and mins ect. to find the best replacement? Im a young guy just looking for some information.
Im currently fighting and old fan shaft i cant get apart.. I cant spin the shaft because the shaft and fan has a key way. Things a bear. Gunna try and rig up a monster hub puller. Drilled and tapped 2 3/8" holes in the end of the shaft with a 1/2 steel plate.
@@jeremyjarboe8888 I carefully cut the bering with a 4 inch gr8nder and cutting disks careful trying not to cut into the shaft if I can help it but if you nick it it will be ok.
Was it that much cheaper to repair the shaft over replacing it? I'm curious on the cost of a new shaft that size vs repair. I'd guess new OEM shaft and bearing would have been $1500-$2k
SHAFT REPAIR was 495 and done same day. The unit is 50 years old and when you buy that SHAFT like the customer did previously the year before it took twice the labor because it was wrong from manufacture and still required machine shop to cut it down. So they saved 3 man days of labor and the cost of the shaft. Plus lead time to get a new one is like 4 weeks. We ended up doing whole job 3 guys 2 days with REPAIR of shaft so they probably saved 3k because labor is 150 an hour per man. And it was up and running in 3 days from when other tech discovered it
You take set screw out. Spray oil it. Then sand or wire wheel the shaft and when its clean spray with oil. Then use a pipe wrench on shaft to spin it out. This is with the wheel locked in place. Pretty easy once you have done one.
Terrible editing. Take your pics and edit it together with a narrative. You could easily convey all the "useful" info you have (and probably more) in 2 minutes. Expect to spend at least one day putting together a useful video.

Just get shaft size and ask for hvac service bearings or get part number off the bearing itself.
very nice man, thats some Big boy Boss stuff right there pal! good job
Ezy pzy
How many labour you used for this work and how long it took to complete the job in hour?

Hey bro we have a job doing this exact thing coming up and interested in your process of removing the shaft and reinstalling the shaft
Clean the shaft completely oil it up. Secure the wheel and spin the ahaft with a pipe wrench to break it loose. Should slid right out easy.
@@IHVAC awesome thanks for the reply!
