Glad you all are ridding the fields of lead, making crops safer for consumption and worms better able to be gold guardians, it’s amazing how much lead you boys find.
Found the twins of your medal find on a few websites John. The better survivors read Good For Two Years Good Luck. The cross has a vine pattern running within it. The backs are always plain. Most view these as charms from the early 30's.
@thescottishdetectorist You're welcome John. I did originally include links to web pages so you could view a couple, but YT suppressed the comment (presumably because it included links), so you'll have to search google for yourself if you're interested in seeing more minty looking versions.
The swastika pendant says "Good For Two Years Good Luck" I found one online that said it was circa 1930. One of the items in the plastic box at the end looks like something to melt metal to pour into a mold.
👍 found the same listing. Learned something new today. Didn’t know the symbol was so popular until us German jackasses hijacked it for an unspeakable horror. I much prefer it’s original meaning. (Googled hexagon swastika badge)
I found one of those Swastikas years ago and they were common in the UK apparently before WW2. My father said they were indeed good luck symbols. The Swastika took on a whole negative meaning after the Nazis took it as their emblem. Also the Nazi salute was a hail as in ‘hailing’ a taxi.
@@dthomp06 From what I see, it is most likely a good luck charm, having nothing to do with the Third Reich. Remember (as mentioned in the video), the swastika was a well known symbol for thousands of years, before those b*****ds hijacked and spoiled it for everybody...
Blessings boys…Simon included…ya gotta love him. Looking forward to another brilliant day of metal detecting finds. By The Way, my Scottish Detectorist friend…my lovely wife and I are building our homestead on our 2 acre piece of property, here in northeast Tennessee…and I’m saving our permission, for you, John, to come over and metal detect it. Just sayin…we’re here, and the permission belongs to you. Blessings.
Another enjoyable video John, nice to see Simon out with you again, I reckon you'll have to sit him down and read the detector instructions out to him 😊. The German coin/medallion is a curious one it'll be interesting to learn more about that. Cheers John.
Oof! For a second there I thought, Simon had found a small ancient vase! That would have been epic!! What's with all the knobs recently?! 😅 Just before you showed Simon's door knob find, I was about to comment, that your marble-sized "thing" with a hole going only half way through, could possibly also be the knob of a small drawer or something. Maybe? Or, like you said, indeed a hat pin. I guess, I'm just seeing door and drawer knobs everywhere now...🤔 As a German, I always get the creeps, when someone finds a swastika. 😱I wish, your find looked older, because I know that way before the damn nazis, the Norse people also used this symbol (in a much more positive way), and it is or was also popular in India and Hinduism. However, this doesn't look exactly Viking or Indian, and if it did, that would probably be a very unusual find on Scottish fields. You're probably right in that it could be from prisoner of war field workers. Although, would they have been allowed to keep their nazi jewelry, if this was a pendant? Naaaah, I hope next time you rather find some nice gold or hammered coins again instead! Fingers crossed! 🤞
My grand mother had a Navajo rug while working as a Nurse in a TB san at ft Defiance on NM/Arizona border. It was covered in right and left swasticas. After WWll Navajo rug weavers stopped using swasticas. Their men were Code Talkers all over the world for the Marines. They had an easy life in the military compared to raising sheep in the desert
Swastikas before WWII were common symbols of good luck. Independently used by native Americans, very early use by Scandinavians to represent the Hammer of Thor. Also bronze age sun cross. Also appears in iron age artifacts. Also used in Hindu and Buddhist traditions. This version probably made in US late 19th century or before WWII . Many US tokens sold as pendants or watch fobs as good luck charms.
Exactly. They outperformed regular marines due to the harsh environment in the desert. They didn't eat the sheep they cared for, they raised them for wool. Women own the sheep, young men were horsemen, hunters, and sheep herders in the desert in the 40s. Afterward many came to Albuquerque or nearby Pueblo land as well.
Lots of interesting things still makes a nice outing. Nice to see Simon back, but we didn't see him eat your hat. Cheers from Texas, and hoping to see you again soon.
Merely because of the orientation of the swastika, I'd assume it's not Nazi, as well as the decoration inside of it, though I could be wrong! If there is history in that area of POW, it could be from wartime. Unfortunately Google was quite limited with the results, and I fear I'm now on a list for searching too much...! Great video as always John, I thought the big chimney looking things were Panzerfaust warheads at a first glance, but maybe just agricultural.
I heard 25:05 that many of the european monarchs, including Ireland and England, have monarchies dating back to the Jewish diaspora. The rampant lion is a symbol of the king David, Lion of the tribe of Judah, and Irelands harp is the harp of King David. Never researched it but a good story. In the middle of New Mexico there is a place on the Las Lunas pueblo Indian land (ask Simon what a pueblo is) called the Mt. Of Mystery. Can you show a bit more of your light box.
Cheers!
Hi Geoffrey. Do you mean show more finds in it or you’d like to see the box itself and how it works? Thanks
@@thescottishdetectorist A quick look on how your lightbox is constructed would be interesting and maybe helpful for others wishing to take photo's.
Enjoy your channel, Geoff from Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
The farmer probably knows what those big pipe things are, they're way too big to be grenades of course, grenades are made to be thrown a distance, those things looked to be pretty heavy.
Water pipe apparently Matt. Thankfully 😆
Toy wheel with the flange on one side may be from a toy train possibly, rather than a car? Maybe?
Well spotted! A train seems to be a popular choice! Many thanks
@thescottishdetectorist thanks for the reply John. Happy hunting mate 😉
In comparing machines it would be useful record depths of the finds.
Good job!
Hope Simon enjoyed his woolly lunch 😅 so funny 😁
Is Simon related to Manwell from Faulty Towers? Ive gots to know :)
Haha 😂 not that I know of
Some good finds, you have gorgeous George so your dig is complete! Lol
22:43 copper ball may be the ball from a ball catch (spring would sit inside the ball held by a catch plate?)
You got some nice stuff over rhere
Have you ever tried to run two different ditectors over exactly the same ground at the same time to see if one is better than the other 🤔?
