Kim XO I’m in southern Alabama. Things aren’t near as bad as some of our neighboring states. We are in self quarantine to help keep the chance of contagion and/or spread down. Thanks for asking.
The buying by size thing is an issue from another angle too: when buying online and the size guidance on the site is something like "runs true to size". Much more useful is if they put the actual measurements of the garment (often sellers on Vestaire or eBay do this, it makes for a much better experience) - and I really wish they would put the *shoulder* measurement on shirts, dresses, jackets etc. For those of us who are inverted triangles the 'bust-waist-hips' measurement thing is just not all that helpful. Also, totally agree on the ratty-shoes thing. Finding a really good shoe repair place is a must for me since I walk a lot and I hate having ratty-looking shoes too. Depending on the shoes I've even heard of people mailing their shoes off to a specialist repair (eg there's one in the UK called The Restory I think that people there really seem to like). Thanks for another fun video! xo
Me. I’m guilty of the ratty shoes issue. I just turned 50 on March 5th and I still have a pair of tennies that I know I wore my freshman year of high school. They are full of holes and the sole is coming off but I still love them!
I was always buying a few sizes too big to hide my ‘problem area’ (thighs). My husband always said I wasn’t showing my figure properly. In photos I realized it made me look bigger than I actually am! So now buying what actually fits!
Brilliant video... I still tend to buy by size. I needed to be told it’s ok not to. Great tips as always. I get lots of compliments since following your channel. Thank you (just wish a had a huge bank vault to really shop it now 😂) x
The bra tip is essential! Ever since I discovered true&co from Nordstrom my confidence has gone way up, it smooths the back area which is what would always bother me about my tops! It’s not that my tops were too tight, it was that my bra made me all lumpy! Great video as always xoxo
I definitely make some of those mistakes. I put pressure on myself to buy for the body I want or the body I had 15 years ago. I am also guilty of the black shoes with almost everything look. Call it pragmatism, but I am starting to move beyond !
Kerri Laurin move beyond the size of you can, honestly it only will make you feel uncomfortable in your clothing and then bad that it doesn’t fit!! If you can...definitely add a light pair of shoes to your wardrobe! Xoxoxo
I like ur idea of not going by the size on the clothing item. I’ll have to practice that when I can start shopping again after our world is ok after covid
Thanks for your helpful tips Kim! I really cut on the size tags if I don´t want to see them anymore and if it´s bothers me. So no, I´m doing your first misstake. /Marie from Sweden
1st tip is so true! Moreover, you can try different kind of fits with the same garment by trying on different sizes. Kinda applying your own idea to it.
In such an uncertain time, thank you for sharing a video that is important, sizes on clothing, really doesn't matter... the only time it matters is when its sold out!! lol.. xox
It was a great video!! I totally feel ya on the don't shop sizes!! I have been trying to get that thought across to a few of my girlfriends... I'm totally guilty of shopping the mannequin!! 😁
I agree with all your tips except # 1. I used to do that but I need to wear a medium. The tag definitely needs to say that. If I allow myself a large then I will feel ok with large. Then it's ok for me to wear xl. Then xxl, xxxl and ect. By only wearing medium it allows me to keep control of myself. And, I always look at the label and seeing medium makes me feel huh, sooo good. Great tips though.
Hi Kim, Love your channel, it would be really appreciated if you could guide what and which online coursed out there for fashion stylist. Much love thanks 😊

1. Don't buy by the size. Grab different sizes and just see which feels better, looks better and is truer to your own style. 2. Don't follow the manequin, the full outfit is ultra trendy. But check if each piece match your closet. 3.No ragged shoes. Clean shoes please. 4. "Outfit interruption." she doesn't like harsh contrast, specially on shoes. 5. Take it easy on the jewelry, if you're going big with one piece, minimize the rest. Bonus tip: make sure your bra fits.
Walter Green Style lol! Well that’s good! Sometimes you just need to hear those things...in a sweet way 🙃 Hope all is going well where you live! Kim xo
Lucky you! Buy the right bra for you, whatever puts the girls into their natural orbit. I see so many more gifted women wearing saggy bralettes that ruin their beautiful figures. My mom and one of my sisters took all the family cleavage and can make a loose t-shirt look hot.
While working retail, we were trained to put clothing items with the largest stock on the mannequins in order to get the items moved even if the top and skirt didn't coordinate at all. So, from a fashion design standpoint, I'm begging you not to buy what's on the mannequin, because it's not even an actual outfit.
I lost weight in 2019 and I keep buying things too big now. It takes a long time to learn my new size in each of my regular brands because sizing is so inconsistent. It’s really time for manufacturers to come up with an international sizing chart, and stick to it. It should be based on the principal measurement for each garment, like bust for tops, waist for bottoms, and given in measurement in SI units (cm). “Plus Size” , “Junior”, etc., ranges should be eliminated, and sizes given in a simple numbers, e.g. 88,90,92,94,96, etc. Letter sizes should also be eliminated, ranges could be given like: 92-94 cm. No one wants to be an XL or XXL, but the reality is that is what the average (American) woman wears (size 14-16, height 5’3-4”). Ideally, there would be three lengths offered, again in cm. It’s so annoying that at H&M I take a M, except in their “Divided” line, where I take a L-XL. They don’t make it easy to see what line (sizing range) the item is in when online shopping, so I’m always ordering the wrong size. That said, their sizing is more consistent than most brands. At Zara, I take an XS to XL, who knows until the item shows up. As an important fashion influencer, Kim, please mention to this to everyone you know in the fashion industry, women are fed up. Men don’t put up with this nonsense, and we shouldn’t either. I think this is the principal reason that we end up in the wrong sizes, it can be like climbing a mountain to return/exchange things, especially since the pandemic.
Can you recommend brands for bra size 34 Ddd? I would love to have a bra that actually fits, but i have literally tried every bra in Toronto and that still seems like a distant dream.
