What you showed in Croma is absolutely correct. They convince you to buy the apple care while you pre book but point blank I told them no I do not want the apple care. It was then pre booked without it. So when I went to get the phone. They convinced me for 20 min to buy the apple care by saying there is a special offer/discount on it now, take it with the phone showing me images of damaged phones and saying under apple care it was fixed for free. I point blank said no. Took my phone. Got the billing done with proper name and checked everything before payment.

I’ve been using Apple products for the last 8 years, thankfully in my city the retailers are not scamming people like this. This needs to stop in whichever city it’s happening, and I guess it’s always safer to buy from authorised retail shops like currents, tresor or imagine..

The same thing happens abroad, in the first couple of months they only sell you the phone if you buy Apple care plus, not only that they refuse to sell the base storage variant and force you to buy the more expensive ones, I think it’s best to wait for three to four months and buy an iPhone when the market cools down a bit.
This is why Apple needs to open more official stores in India. The apple store in Mumbai provides a really good service

Good to know that the Croma store in my store is honest😂. Got iPhone 15 at Rs74900. The salesperson was too nice that once I said I didn’t want the care plan, he just removed all care plan options. I think this kind of scam usually happens in North India.

I am 100% agreed to you..However I think indian middle class is so desperate that they want to show they are now fall in to high class by buying iphone at any cost.. So even seller knows.. That they are just using demad supply gap to there profit.. That's wat sales ppl do.. But if they have little brain , they must have ask show me on written statement.. But all these buyers on first day are despo.. They should have charged more.. They deserve this treatment..
Apple does not standby it's users, some statement will be launched just to cover this up.
It is completely plausible that the store owners were forced to buy xx number of tempered glass in order to get allocation of xx amount of units, same maybe the case with croma. It isn't like the store owner is going to bear the loss, it will ultimately be borne by the customers.
Apple is just using it's fame.
But, apple should take strict actions..

This is happening, I have witnessed it. People who have pre booked are denied delivery if they are not willing to pay for care + or additional accessories by taking Apple’s name. Later on this stock is sold with anyone who is willing to pay for additional things.

I was in sales, although not for a electronics store but I can guess pretty well that the franchise owners or the General Managers of these stores have asked the Employees to sell it as mandatory to increase their sales... Sometimes the Regional head of these stores give them a high target (That is a target for the sales guys and not persay mandatory for the customer) and what they do is link the employees complete incentive for that month to meeting that target... If they don't meet the target the upper management slashes the entire incentive of the employee for that month, Hence the employees out of helplessness shamelessly sell it as mandatory.... It's not made mandatory by apple but by the upper management of that store.... Apple may have said that the store needs to sell apple care on 50% phones or something

i got a screen guard + clear back cover + lens cover at ₹999/-.. it was a preorder offer and optional too.. no one in the store was forced to buy any unnecessary add ons.. i got mine from iTech (authorised Apple reseller)..

I was in a local licensed Jio store getting a sim, where a customer was somewhat forced to get AppleCare, one year iCloud subscription as mandatory stuff (apparently iPhone users must take an iCloud subscription) when he went to buy an iPhone 13. This happened on September 3rd of this year, just ten days before the launch of the new phone and this poor guy was charged a total 84999 for an iPhone 13 (plus the other stuff I mentioned) 128gb with 30 months emi.
I raised my voice but before I realised what was going on the bill was already done, I was a little bit too late.
May be the case you are talking is correct but how this guy can be poor who is ready to afford iPhone 13 😮

That’s an old scam, it happened to me last year as I was looking for my 14 pro max and it was out of stock everywhere and I specifically wanted 512 and when I called the retailers they all said the same thing everytime either out of stock or you have to buy apple care. Worst above all I still remember the demand of black and purple was at peak and they were like we have gold or white in 128 or 256 which you can get without care because they just weren’t selling..
Idk about other experiences with unicorn but mine was significantly better as when I got my phone I also asked the staff like why do they all look they just dont care but still very cooperative and she said they are very few people who buys the product than people coming just to enquire and less people eventually buying higher variants.. and I was luck they don’t forced me for anything lmao.
But I can say its wholesome worse in the ground. What I can suggest you to do is have some contacts in any retailer and then prebook the iphone in that retail and then ask your contact to help get it: on time and without any string attached!!
There's no fault of apple or it's retailers. It's us who are fighting to buy 4 years old designed phones 😅

Apple have no idea about this. Resellers have these kind of 3RD PARTY ACCESSORIES which is an entirely different company that outsources these products from china and provides hefty margin to the resellers like Unicorn/Croma. And the sales staff in order to earn incentive does that unethically.
