  • This is the new 2016 Range Rover Sport SDV8. Power is sourced from a 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 diesel engine that is sent to all four wheels via an 8 speed automatic transmission. 0-62 MPH takes 6.5 seconds and it will go onto a top speed of 140 MPH. Aluminium architecture reduces its weight by 420kg.
    As well as being capable off road, the 2016 Range Rover Sport handles well on road also. Torque vectoring and a set of Brembo brakes helps this luxury SUV apply its keen driving nature. Terrain Response 2 now features an auto mode.
    This Autobiography Sport came specified with rear TV screens and wireless headphones. 7 seats are optional.
    Our top of the range Range Rover Sport came to over £92,000. Is it worth its money? We find out in this road test.

    Blue with the Black Pack looks really slick - not a combination I've seen before.

    Great video as always! This car is exceptional, especially with the 5.0 supercharged v8. Maybe it's bout time to replace the discovery???

    Oh you should drive the RR Sport V8 Dynamic, 510 HP, it is scary fast . I know because I bought one after the test drive. Love it! Now I have a C63 AMG., 507 Edition Coupe, 2000 E55 AMG and my newest 2016 RR Sport.

    Might I ask, is the SDV8 engine only available in the UK?
    I've been fiddling around with the configurator in the land rover canada site and I cannot find the SDV8 engined range rovers.

      I believe you are right. Is SDV8 available on Land Rovers in your region.

    Nice “SDV8”

  • @MrPeterthepilot

    Think the 3 litre, SDV6 is probably the sweet spot in the range. .4 secs extra to 62 but better economy and still with 600nm of torque and 3.5 tonne towing.

      +MrPeterthepilot Haven't driven the V6 yet. It is a great car though.

      I agree with you there. The sdv8 doesn't offer much more than the v6. The v8 is a huge step up though.

      Bit faster, bit more economical, bit more engine problems (whole lot of engine probs), been driving both sdv6 and sdv8 for the past 2 years, sdv8 is being recommended.

      @@KINGMUFASAWell, today my dad’s SDV6 just broke down on a highway. Before it happened, my dad was cruising at 200kmh and suddenly he heard some whining noise (it’s loud). Then, the car just started to decelerate and broke down. Now, the mechanic said that the engine can’t be saved. This cause my dad to change the new engine. So, which engine you think that is better to replace? The same SDV6 or SDV8?

    Never could understand that statement - "you ever need to own one car" as an advantage. For me it is a feature of a deprived life.
    Being a petrolhead, it is so satisfying inspiring to own and drive several (or many) cars.
    Sounds like having a set of clothes so versatile and universal that you can wear it on whatever occasion - to a mountain hike, to a wedding, to an underwater swimming, to a parachute jumping, to a workout, to a hot equatorial beach and to the coldest region of Siberia in winter, etc. So wonderful set of clothes that you ever need to own just one.
    I understand that cars are somewhat different stuff than clothes, but hey.
    People like diversity. Even in sex many of us want - at least want, some do - to 'try' several sexual partners, sometimes even several at one time. Don't know whether it's right or wrong, but it is our reality. Love affairs, cheating, swinger dating...
    People buy several motorcycles, several boats, several planes. People visit several foreign countries. Or at least think of visiting several of them.
    I don't think this Range Rover Sport can give me what a Mazda Miata/MX5 can give. And vice versa. For the price of this RRS I can gather a nice "band" of cars in my garage that can satisfy way more of my pretensions or wishes.

    • @daveknight743
      @daveknight743 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      🤣 slightly drifted away there from cars to swinging and sex partners!! The comment he made would refer to the car can cover all types of driver to it uses so being its uses. In context if you could only have one car this might be the one!

    • @aleksandrnestrato
      @aleksandrnestrato 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meh, it's not drifting... It's a search for examples where this pattern occurs.
      I totally understand what he wanted to say by that, I don't understand how come can that be an advantage. I fear cars that can cover a lot of my needs-I'd rather share my needs between several cars.
      As i'm typing this I'm starting to understand how can versatility be advantageous.
      In case somebody has a limited budget for a whatever thing-that thing has to be sufficient and efficient.
      Either it is something really expensive, a private jet for instance.
      Or it is something affordable, but in a situation with other spendings-like buying a car to commute while building a big expensive family house.

      In instances where people cannot afford or do not want multiple cars it makes perfect sense, especially wheeler the person likes cars but not enough to have a weekend toy- there in lines the advantage of the RRS, Cayenne etc…

    • @aleksandrnestrato
      @aleksandrnestrato 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonathangallie6540
      I agree with you here: some people do not want more than one car (for whatever reason).
      The rest... Look.
      1. If people cannot afford a car they use public transport. If they cannot afford a good car they own a Toyota Corolla from 1992 and it covers all their needs.
      If one cannot afford good food he/she eats junk and gets used to it.
      If one cannot afford good clothes he/she wears thread-bare stuff and that stuff covers all the needs. Etc.
      2. What you say here -person likes cars but not enough to have a weekend toy- is a total misunderstanding of weekend toys.
      Here is an idea for you: Mazda Miata as a weekend toy. Or an Opel Speedster (if you can find one). Or a used Chevrolet Corvette (C5 or even C4) with folding roof to let the air in. All those are very inexpensive both to purchase and to maintain and though any of them surely can lighten your weekend!
      3. RRS are not daily cars. All people I know who owns RR, own several other cars as well. 'Cause RR is too showy and too florid-you can't go everywhere in this car.
