Now leave the protein shakes . hair gels, and cross-fit, replace it with 3 weeks in the field eating ration packs and 6 hours of broken sleep, then finish of with a 40km pack march caring 25 kg and you might get an introduction to the life of an infantry soldier in training.
+Brendan Hughes Well.. you might be right. You dont really need muscle on a real battlefield in the 21st century, but maybe i am wrong. The less you weigh and the less you need to eat the longer you can survive ;)
+Joshi Josti ur wrong. If you have a lot of body mass if you don't eat for a long time Your body starts to "eats itself" and you have more mass to burn before you die starving
Tomas Azevedo well, i want to see you running with 50 pounds of muscle and then with 6 pounds of muscle. You can still have a lot of strength to pull yourself up somewhere. I think a mix is best but imo these guys are a bit too muscular. They are propably not running enough but idk
Fit Media Channel haha we didn't have to do firemans carries or drags...but we did have the run back to CTCRM! Well done gents - it's still tough whatever you do!!
Also I must add that they had a camera try at the Endurance Course, This is what they should have done, Endurance Course - 2-mile (3.2 km) of cross country and water obstacles followed by a 4-mile (6.4 km) road run in 73 minutes carrying 21 lb (9.5 kg) fighting order and a personal weapon, followed immediately by a range shoot in a 25m range simulating 200m, in which 6/10 targets must be hit. Be tough, be keen, be a Royal Marine!
+Old Marine I would say your right if I wasn't American, we have the best armed forces of any allied country, and ISIS will go down, tell your country to help XD
Most body builders are not actually as fit as they look. They pump up muscles and are very strong but they can't really do anything with their strength. We did the bleep test at school and most big guys who go to the gym only got about level 10. Cardio is real fitness. Body building is for strength and vanity. But these guys seam quite fit. But I'm sure marines a lots fitter. I made that comment when I was 14, now 19 and I’ve actually done some military training in the reserves (infantry) and my old comment isn’t completely correct, what I was trying to say is cardio is the best overall functioning fitness for my life style and military training, but obviously strength and power and other components are equally as important depending on what sport/life style you have. It’s just amusing to see big guys with epic biceps hanging out their asses after 200m of a loaded march, or as I said dying from the bleep test being confused as to why their massive quads can’t make them run as fast as they thought. I am trying to say you need cardiovascular fitness as well as strength and power in order to function more effectively, obviously I’m bias towards my sport which is running, and a bodybuilder would smash me on a bench press activity, but just want to make it clear that looming massive and fit doesn’t necessarily mean you can perform at a good level.
Are you training for the day you'll have to run 20 miles out of nowhere? Those fitness models look better and are instantly respected simply because of their body, which is much more useful in modern society than any amount of cardiovascular fitness.
I am a former UNITED STATES MARINE There is no way in hell some fitness model is going to hang 10 mins with these Marines. Over here we get professional athletes attempting Marine Corps training frequently, failing miserably in their attempt. I know my Royal Marine brothers in this Commando Unit took it REAL easy on him. Your MARINES . are badass and tough as shit. Nobody is going to walk in a breeze through any shit they deal out. The Taliban can attest to that in Afghanistan. SEMPER FI from across the pond
Respect to you as a military man, but I was there. There were no shortcuts. I went round the course carrying just a small camera (and missing out the obstacles) and it nearly killed me. The Grenade guys were going round carrying weapons and weighted back packs. I don't think the Grenade team could do this every day like the military do - but there was no cheating on the day.
Enjoyed viewing that. Different going down the tunnels with a SLR trying to keep it clean if not back you go. Must have been slim in those days looking at the size of the tunnels LOL
People saying US Marines are better, just look at the requirements and you will see that the Royal Marines are far superior. However, they do not serve the exact same purpose, in which case, the US Marines are still not superior. A good comparison would be the Navy SEALS vs the Royal Marines, for example.
It's because people who don't even know who the Royal Marines are see "Marines" and assume that they are just a British version of the American Marines.
sickkunt I'm an ex special forces (EU country) and as part of a NATO program i've trained with SAS , Navy seals and delta force (Unit: Shock Unit) over a period of 5 years and i can say that Navy seals are in fact Tier 2 but they have tier 1 too ( Team 6 and 8). SAS is considered tier one after "british standards" but in fact it's more tier 2. The SAS training is very similar to Navy seals today (i'd say 96% similarity) for instance in navy seals and sas they teach you interrogation, how to resist interrogation, how to keep yourself sane during the interrogation but that's it, on the other hand Delta force (tier 1) they teach you how to conduct interrogations yourself as well, how to think of new methods of interrogations and much much more extra, also field combat techniques - in navy seals and sas they teach you field tactics in wilderness villages , on the other hand delta force beside that they teach you how to perform those actions in cities too, like new york, LA where in case something happens it's different than middle east , again navy seals and sas they teach you how to infiltrate behind enemy lines (territorial concept) withdrawal and that's pretty much it , but delta force beside those things they teach you how to infiltrate at a political level (meaning infiltration at high ranks) that's spy work they also teach you how to plant dead drops, plant gps devices, wire rooms, buildings, "play" with Cctv systems, build improvised weapons, how to build chemicals for alteration of drinks maybe (poison, liquids that inflict skin burns etc) how to build explosives, how to handle intel, how to analyse intel, how to use and come up with conclusions for intel and much much more staff than navy seals and sas do . So sas is tier 1 after british standards because they don't have something better, but delta force is top, they have top secret missions, low publicity but navy seals and sas they have a lot of publicity TV shows and sh*t, but delta force is really low profile and maybe uk has something better than sas but maybe it's really low profile and nobody knows really much about it. But delta force still has a better unit which is really small. A reporter in 2005 or 6 found on some cia docs about a unit IN delta force extremely highly trained called "brigade" or "ghosts" Which had only 9 or 10 persons the whole unit but that's all it's known about them, imagine an unit better trained than delta force, wau
The new goal for the US military is to provide career opportunity for women, minorities, gays, and transgenders, so they will have to make physical requirements much, much easier.
All Americans saying the US Marines are better than the Royal Marines seem to have 0 experience or knowledge of being in the army. Vets/ former servicemen from the US, UK and rest of Europe all clearly see that the RM are better than the USMC, and are closer to being up there with the SEALs/SBS, but they're restricted to playing the grunt, but I would argue the best grunt in the world (they hold speech marching world record, and longest training of any non special forces unit in the world).
I was expecting U.S. Marines, but these guys are waaay more badass. I'm not saying that because Royal Marines are commandos, I've said it because Royal Marines endure pain way longer than U.S. marines. It really doesn't matter because at the end of the day, these men fight together.
i agree, i mean a lot of people think the USMC boot camp is like the only training they get......well it is not lol they spend years training as does the US army, navy, airforce etc. i know one guy who is a enlisted marine and he joined to become a engineer and the spot was basically filled at the time so he had to go infantry and he is now a squad leader( well the leader of his team i am not sure on all the exact terms) he spent almost 2 years training well also being deployed and training in between , and just in the past year he started his engineer training which will probably take a year or so depending on what all he wants to learn.
