So far he’s the only person with enough wisdom to actually see through what Ruan Mei is doing. He’s fully aware of her suspicion. He only doesn’t get involved because he wants other people to discover that for themselves due to his philosophy of teaching. But he definitely sees through her.
Hasn't trailblazer also seen Mei's true self?
Not really they assumed she is trustworthy after every thing she done for them in the simulation universe (which is her event which gives all the buffs of a single path) and believes that she is like herta and the robo dude, but the reality is that she is using them for her own goals in researching aeons and how to become one to understand the meaning and secrets of life.
He is very judgemental of all of the geniuses not just Ruan Mei, his conversation with Screwllum already gave us an idea why he hates them in particular.
I dont think Ruan Mei cares if anyone did know, its not like she's actively trying to hide it from anyone, she just doesn't trust anyone therefor never mention it, but she was fine with the MC knowing, and give them the cure so they can very much walk to Herta right now and tell her all about Ruan Mei's goals, if she really wanted to keep it a secret, she wouldn't have gotten the MC involved and even if she had to, she would've made sure they wont be able to speak a word to it to anyone else, which is not the case of how things ended is it now.
If you think about it no one actually knows ruan mei personally enough to deduce that, well except for the SU dev team but it’s not hard for them to see what she’s cooking up obviously. And dr ratio only got the clues from inspecting her working space, probably.
No matter how hard they try to make dr. Ratio looks like a self-centered guy, it’s still apparent that he is very kind at heart. Everything he does, he does it for others. The only reason why he hates the geniuses is because they hinder the improvement of the “mediorce”. Honestly bro is such a gigachad.
He is basically a scholar version of Gordon Ramsay an asshole with a kind heart
Understandable though, the world's problem is stupid teaching system, Dr Ratio would love nothing more then to fix that, only problem is if everyone could be intelligent then simple jobs as a store cashier or gas station attendant would dissappear as everyone would want high salaries

If you have watched the Chinese 1.6 presentation, Herta (or her Chinese VA) argued that Dr Ratio "made people cry" 3X, despite being a knowledgeable person and a teacher.

People think Ratio is an ass, which he is, but he is also the nicest person in the 1.6 event. His entire goal is to elevate others and empower them solve their own problems. He doesn’t believe in the blind worship the Geniuses get aboard the HSS and wants to encourage people to be their own masters.

I like this guy not because of his sass, but because his entire existence is a reference:
1- In his idle animation, an apple falls on his head which refers to the discovery of gravity by Isaac Newton
2- his talent is called “Cogito Ergo Sum” which is a quote from René Descartes (I think, therefore I am)
I like this guy because his technique statues are literally jojo references
His harsh nature also replicates that of Greek philosophers. They took debates quite seriously and valued philosophical thinking a lot. His nature is wanting to teach people which is why he’s so harsh.
He also always focuses on others. Helping those that aren’t as naturally gifted or as lucky as the geniuses with their intelligence. That’s why he’s is so distasteful in the eyes of others because he pushes them.
With this nature he also sees right through Ruan Mei. His method of teaching is why he doesn’t interfere with her and let’s others solve the problems, that’s why he observed the trailblazer, he would’ve helped if things got genuinely out of hand but he wanted to help the trailblazer grow. If Ruan Mei becomes more of a threat due to her obsession with her research he would help, but he wants others to figure it out.
He's Basically Rene Descartes for he also uses mathmatics and trigonometry in his attacks
Plus, his E6 is a reference to Michelangelo's "David".
His name also is a Math reference.

I appreciate him because while he is pompous, he's not without his merits. And his goal isn't simply "I am smarter than everyone" but instead "I want all to be smarter than they currently are". Despising the worship of geniuses and intelligence is actually off from what I expected him to be. He really just wants the universe to be a more capable and intelligent place.
He is not wrong about the Genius Society. In their minds they're good, but all of their actions are selfish and they will harm others as long as they get the results they want.
Can't wait for Stephen to drop, though. Being the youngest/newest, he might not be as far gone as the rest of them.
From the looks of it, he's just a chill kid who just happens to be a genius. A kid that want to enjoy their childhood and stay in their father's fruit shop.

at first i didn't get the relevance of why his story was released alongside ruan mei, but as the story progressed, i realized he was a perfect contrast to her: she's nice while he's not, but she has near disregard to life and wellbeing of others while he actually does

Dr Ratio is really spot on the Genius Society which I never notice. Everyone who is not apart of the Genius Society just worships the Genius. And the most important part is... They don't get anywhere cause they're too busy worshipping and not enhancing their own knowledge or improving themselves.
That's why Dr Ratio teaches and share knowledge. So cool 😆
For anyone who knows the Alternate Ending of Star Rail at the beginning (if you decide to stay). Madam Herta will use you as an experiment because of your Stellaron Body but will get tired of you and just toss you away. And left you just working at some random job in the Herta Space Station. Which proves another point, if you are not useful to the Genius Society, you are OUT and IGNORED. Left to improve yourself by your OWN 😖

I think the way of how dr ratio is aware about ruan mei's ambition as she wants to explore more than just "life" is very likely hinting us what will happen to her in the future. I assume that we will maybe defeating her malicious result of her research as she pursuing the understanding of life, until she reaches the divinity that as the same as an aeon, or maybe she fail miserably in the way.
It's funny that everyone of us are wary of her sus research but let's not forget she is not even the worst of the geniuses, I say she is pretty tamed compared to the others.

Lucky for us that its just an imperfect clone and died during the second it throw us with its giant ball, if its managed to stay longer we would have died and maybe the entire space station is destroyed just because of the result of her experiment in the way of pursuing her goal. Out of the geniuses we have met so far, Ruan mei is the most ambitious one just as what Dr ratio says. And she will keep doing it until she reached her goal of understanding the concept of life.

God, he’s very quickly becoming my favourite character and he isn’t even put yet. He just cracks me up by saying things I don’t expect, and yet they make perfect sense for his character. He’s extremely blunt and probably wouldn’t mean to come off as funny as he sounds.
Like even in these lines, he starts out so kind, asking if something is troubling you… only to tell you to figure it out yourself, and if you can’t, you are the problem. 😂
I’m starting to think that the best word to describe him would be… arrogant. I thought he was a narcissist, but he’s far too open and aware about his flaws, and doesn’t seem to care about what others see him as. He strikes me as someone who is arrogant, because they believe themselves to be smarter than you and above most people- but that’s because he actually is, he’s merely just stating facts most people wouldn’t want to hear, and what comes off as very arrogant of him. But at heart, he seems quite nice. He seems to genuinely care about teaching others and seeing them become smarter. Even though his methods leave a bit to be desired… All in all, he seems the most sincere and well-meaning from the geniuses, oddly enough.
And he’s yet to feed us substances we didn’t agree to eating just to do his bidding the way he prefers it.
So yeah… super excited to get him! Speaking of which… I’m feeling kinda dull, kinda dumb… Hear that Dr. Ratio? You better get released quick!

Nah. He really does want to enter Genius Society. From his background story, he was actually waiting to be a member, to be gazed upon by Nous. But, when a secretary(?) handed him out a letter, he was excited but when he read the letter, the secretary(?) saw Ratio worn a defeated expression which the secretary believed that Ratio was waiting for a letter from the Genius Society but instead, he got a letter from the IPC inviting him for cooperation with them (IPC x Intelligentsia cooperation)

So right now, it is safe to assume he would refuse to join since he views ordinary people worshipping genius society members as a problem.

I really wish Dr. Ratio would "ratio" Herta. Unlike Screwllum, Herta is the peak of what Dr. Ratio hates the most, an egoist genius with no regard to help others besides herself. She got an whole group of genius adoring her instead of focusing on themselves and she doesn't care at all about them abandoning their obssesion for her and focusing on theirselves, which is basically Dr. Ratio objective as "medical teacher." Also, he would teach Herta how to act like a human which would be great for future interaction
What I want to say basically it's: That Herta sassy brat needs someone to spit some truth on her face, no one is more perfect than "Dr. Ratio" for it

As much as I like Ruan Mei it’s pretty clear she’s got a hyper focus on her work and very little time for anything else. I don't want to say she has a disregard for others like Herta(or indifference?) but its clear the safety of others isn't exactly her top concern. Ratio seems to actually care about others and I do like that he doesn’t just bow to the genius society like others do.
