    I knew the only thing that would change after my break-in service I had two weeks ago is how often I would floor it. My prediction was correct. All the time.

    Break-in Service is very important for any performance car, even if the manufacturer doesn’t specify it. Oil changes under 1500 miles is crucial. I’m not expecting the performance to change, other than the fact that I will be able to take it over 4,000 RPM.

    So I also wondered what they did for the Break in Service. I am currently waiting for my service to be completed on my M5 as I write this. I did ask the head service manager what they did for this service. You are correct that they change the oil and the differential. The one thing that people do not realize is that once they click off the service message in the vehicles code, it it suppose to unlock the the rest of the horsepower that was being held back until the service. That is how it was just described to me. So other than the oil and differential being changed, the full horsepower potential is unlocked as well. I will let you know in about 2 hours when I am able to test out the M5 and see if what they told me is true.

      Hey John, how does it feel after the break-in service of your M5? My M5 still has 500 miles to go, but I am quite interested in the difference. Thank you so much.

      @@shiweilin4344 so I spoke to the bmw technician and he told me that not only is it an oil change but they have to change the computer ( code ) in the car to unlock the extra horsepower. To me it definitely felt more responsive with more power. I also did not drive it fast before the break in service and I followed BMW’s driving recommendations. So I guess I can say that I did feel more acceleration after the service. Either way, the M5 is a beast and I am so happy I purchased it.

    It’s also the type of oil that BMW uses during the break in procedure. It’s not designed to protect the engine at high RPM. BMW does code the car after break in is complete. I think it unlocks a few horsepower, but you wouldn’t really feel it

    • @franklinwatson7767
      @franklinwatson7767 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, it unlocks launch control and boost PSI.

  • @franklinwatson7767

    Just purchased a G80 Comp, and spoke with the BMW tech that works on my F82. He said the G80/2 is detuned prior to break-in service and does not have launch control, but at the 1200 mile service, launch control with an additional 5 PSI will be added, so...yes, it will be faster; rather you feel the additional 5 PSI is a different conversation.

    coming from factory there is different engine and differential oils in the car. Its much more thinner the your typcial oil you put for oil changes. Thats why a service is needed and they aare very anal about it and how you drive it during that time.

    Has nothing to do with lightly used. There are fragments in the engine oil and differential that need to be removed. If you don’t do the service that gunk can/will fuck up your insides and they tried to warn you. Do the service and avoid the void and/or worse outcomes.
