Rest In Peace, Ron. For those of us blessed to know life before the internet and 24-hour, nonstop cable TV with 5,000 channels, if you were up late at night, you hoped the infomercials were at least entertaining. Ron’s were.
I used to watch these in the middle of the night when I was up sick with the flu. I would sometimes catch this one twice, and the knife infomercial a few times in one night. It is fun watching it now all these years later.
What ultimately makes this infomercial so epic is that the Showtime Rotisserie is actually an awesome product that truly does absolutely everything Ron Popeil promised. Everything and anything you cook in it comes out amazingly juicy and tender. Ask anyone who has one. I've had mine since 2003, it works as great today as it did on day one and it's still one of my most essential and frequently used kitchen appliances.
I have 3 of them in case one breaks. It never broke. My wife finds them a thrift stores usually about $20 each. It cooks a beef roast like nothing else. My family loves it every time I cook with it.
Agreed! I have an original one that was a gift from my Mom 20+ years ago and it still works great! I will be using again on this Thanksgiving day for an 8 lb Turkey Breast and I already know how great it's going to turn out.
This was the infomercial that came on right after Saturday and Sunday morning cartoons. Quite possibly the best informercial in the history of mankind. I fully stand behind that statement.
Rip Ron Popeil this man was a legit inventor .I bought this rotisserie machine and it is everything ron says it is .The first thing I cooked in it was a marinated chicken and it was fantastic but I have cooked other things that ron mentioned and they were astounding .I used the solid food injector and it works terrific .I still own this to this day .
After I got married in 2006, my wife asked me what I really wanted for Christmas. I said a Ronco Rotisserie. She laughed at me. Then realized I was serious. Well, I got it for Christmas. And I still use it. In fact, I made a bad ass Lemon Pepper rotisserie chicken for lunch today.... And we've been picking at it all day long. Of all the shit your can buy from the TV.... This is absolutely the best money you'll ever spend.
My family and I just cooked a roast in the Showtime Rotisserie for Christmas yesterday. I cannot tell you how perfect it cooked it and the smell was outstanding! This product does exactly what it advertises!
This guy was awesome. RIP Ron. I have to get one for my Zambian wife who's a chef. She loves different styles of cooking and I'm sure she'll love one of these. Thanks for the nostalgia. ❤️

I just bought my first Ronco Rotisserie last month after years of wanting one from these infomercials. It's 100% worth every penny and making amazing super juicy chicken in 1½ hours.
Got one of these years ago. Works perfectly! Easy, light clean up. You'll love the way it roasts prime rib!!! Chicken's are a snap, too. Two thumbs up.
Haha memories of growing up as a child and not being able to sleep , I’d turn on the TV in the living room and this was always on ... never failed !! 😂
I just bought one, it's being shipped to me and I just can't wait to rotisserie a chicken, I've had them before cooked on one of these machines and the chicken was absolutely incredible and delicious.
I always thought that Ron Popeil was before my time, more of an 80s thing. Guess not! I remember watching this commercial as a kid, totally mesmerized. He really was a hell of a salesman, great at making things seem so simple you’d be a sucker NOT to buy the product. Also realizing now that he had a brilliant business model. They’d just film one commercial interesting enough to almost be something you’d watch on the Food Network, and air the hell out of it.
Forreal, haha "just look at the brocc-" "OOOOOOOHHHHHHH BROCCOLIII THE SMELL IS JUST DIVIIIIIIIINE" *proceeds to have an orgasm on set while Ron goes to the next rotisserie*
I had one of these machines. I loved it. Made some great chicken for the wife. Sadly had to toss it out. Sat for a few years and some unwelcome visitors make its home inside the machine. :(. RIP Ron. This was a great invention. Hope to find one again
that woman from 25:14, she said she can be out with her guests having a cocktail while the food was in the showtime. well it looks like she had one cocktail too many already.
Fuck yes. Just look at the juices. Just look at it, folks. I'm fucking convinced that this product is the fucking solution to every problem in this world. I'm fucking convinced...
Some have already said this, but it is sadly confirmed. Ron Popeil passed away last Wednesday, July 28th at the age of 86. The cause of death was not released, but this is such a blow to the infomercial industry, because Ron was terrific the way he pitched his products ("But wait - there's more!"; "Set it and forget it!"; etc.). Rest in peace, Ron!
I live the RonCo life. I go fishing with the Pocket Fisherman, cook the fish with this item. While waiting for the fish to cook, I have a smoke, without filling my house with cigarette smoke, using the smokeless ashtray. Then I go out and look 20 years younger thanks to the spray on hair. The next day, I toss the leftover fish in the Electric Dehydrator to make some fish jerky,.
i wonder how many people bought this. i loved it growing up...i knew one couple who owned it but i think it as good for large special occasions and for when they came back from fishing trips.
I got my grandmas rotisserie that she bought from this commercial back in like 2000 it still works great... discolored but works like new..... also the intro is on the movie bad Santa lol
I used to watch these Ronco informercials back in the day just sitting on my couch and vegging out. Now I find myself looking them up on youtube and watching the whole thing. What is this spell you have cast on me Ron Popeil?!!
Rofl, that Doctor just has one in his office like that? These old infomercials were so God damned stupid I couldn't stop watching them as a kid, and now that they're on youtube, here I am xD.
I bought one of these and I've never regretted it. I thought this would be cheap and trashy until I saw the one my sister bought and tasted the meat that came out if it. This is the only thing I've ever purchased off of TV and is buy another one if the company was still in business.
I bought one way back then but left it with my mother when I moved away and, well, it's no more. A few years ago I decided I wanted another and got one off eBay. Still love it.
I had a friend who worked at Caesar's Palace in Vegas. He told me that Ron was a regular there. One labor day weekend in the late 80's he had booked a suite and had 2 escorts sent to his room. About 3 am calls started coming into the front desk about the noise in his room. When hotel staff got there Ron was completely naked, coked out of his mind, and the escorts had locked themselves in the bathroom. LVPD were called and had to basically hog tie him and carry him downstairs through the main lobby. My buddy said he was banned from the hotel indefinitely.
May Ron rest in peace. Make a fortune doing these commercials. The woman following him around is so overly dramatic. It's comical. It was easy to listen to him.

I remember being a young precocious little 11 year old watching these infomercials at 2-3 in the morning. I sure did enjoy life pre cell phone time.
I felt more alive pre mobile phones.
