    Pleassssseeeeee Chumbawamba reform the band for a tour. Will never forget seeing you at Salisbury Arts Centre in the early 90's pre the Tubthumping debacle. One of the best live acts i have seen.

      Yeah i concur, that said i do like the odd track from later years such as drip drip drip and a few others. Seriously though, i have seen some gigs in my time but Chumba in the day rank up there with the best....or was it simply that this was my youth?!?

      Yes. they dropped a bollock signing up to EMI for tubthumper, Shhh and Anarchy we such strong strong albums and it is what killed the band selling out......

    92 to 97 Chumbawamba were top of their game. And they had been pretty good in the build up to 92 from late mid 80s with pictures of starving children album. The melodic pop sound was always part of their sound and Tub thumbing was no major change from that.

      Sorry to disappoint you but that was one of several 'call and refrain' that they would use on the breakdown of that track. Sometimes they would also "can I kick it. Yes you can" . I'd forgotten that they would use "I fought the law , and I won" like here. There's probably other versions on various live versions of that track.

    • @sheilaburrowes9081
      @sheilaburrowes9081 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's student union politics[1] with competent musicianship. Interesting combo. But I doubt they would've survived in the industry without the ideological angle, ironically cashing in on a bunch of other people with anti-capitalistic student union politics (I especially doubt their chances of survival without "Tubthumping", which was released at a time, pre-piracy and pre-streaming, when a single huge breakthrough hit could still set you up almost for life). Top kek.
      [1] When you listen to them speak about the critical movements they claim to espouse and to have drawn inspiration from, it's clear that their level of understanding of their own politics/metapolitics, let alone anyone else's, is also student union-tier.
