True. Mary was a fellow sister in Christ, nothing more, nothing less. She would be horrified knowing the unreal status of an idol that has been foisted upon her.
As a Protestant I had no idea about Luther. I was just constantly told that we shouldn’t pray to Mary like the Catholics. My point is that they may not even recognize the history of their denomination and what beliefs the early church held….after much research and prayers, I was received into the church this past Easter.
When I was in 9th grade, I went to Catholic school, and the only thing that got me through some very dark times was the required Mass attendance. This was the only Catholic exposure I ever gotten. After dabbling with the JW's, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, I still felt lost. 42 years later I prayed the Tuesday sorrowful mystery rosary for the first time. After praying and understanding what this mystery was, i was taken back on how beautiful it was and how at peace I felt. I cannot wait to continue my journey in Catholicism.

But we know that there is only one who died and conquered death and rose again and that's Jesus Christ. Mary was just human, blessed ofcourse, but human and she's dead. Wouldn't praying to her be akin to necromancy? Also, I haven't yet found a verse that hinted that Mary can intercede for us. I've only found that the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:26) and Jesus Christ (Rom 8:34, Heb 7: 25) can. If you can share with us a verse that says/hints that Mary can intercede, I'm sure a lot of us will be most grateful and I'm not being sarcastic or mean. I am Catholic and the Rosary is Mentioning Jesus with his mother . We meditate his life from the day Jesus was born until his crucifixion. His love for the people the salvation of sins. Ask also why so many people talk bad about Catholics instead . Pray ask, seek and knock. In Jesus name. When we pray we are at peace it may be the only time we please God. Read the scriptures. Go to the Catholic church we all know its not perfect. God is perfect. His law is to love him and love the peole.. Love definition is in Corinthians. Kindness, patient, truth.
Before you pray God already know whats in your heart. Even Jesus Christ prayed the Our father . This part of the Rosary it the summary of Jesus Christ life. That we may imitate him Jesus Christ and obtain his promise.

@@stever4181 I use to struggle with this big time and always challenged the practice. When Mary was here on earth, was she apart of the Body of Christ, and the Church? Is it fair to say she took her role serious? And when she lived here on earth did it prepare her for Heaven? When I acknowledged these things as reasonable, I connected a few dots. The biggest one being, if we are in the Church while we are alive on earth, we are in The Body of Christ now and even more so apart of it when we are in Heaven. If this is true for us then it is true for Mary. Jesus said God is the God of the living and not the dead. Everyone in Heaven is alive and are no longer preparing for Heaven, they are fully mature in their role in Heaven and the Body of Christ, and the Church. They now perfectly fulfill their roles. If we can ask our pastors and other brothers and sisters in Christ for prayers now, why wouldn’t we be able to ask our brothers and sisters who are in Heaven? Why would those in Heaven be less involved in the Church than those here on earth? The Catholic belief is not only are they able to help pray for us, they are MORE able to help pray for us because they don’t sin, get sleepy, or have anything to distract them. They are fulfilling their role in the Body and Church of Christ as God intended in its most mature state.
@@johnnygarza07 Here is the problem with your question. 1) You are making assumptions. Can Mary or the saints hear our prayers? If they can then they would be omnipresent because they would be able to hear Billions of prayers at the same time. Scriptures tells us only God can hear our prayers. “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer” (1 Peter 3:12) We do not see this ability from any saint or Mary. 2) Jesus gave us instructions as to who to pray to and that was only to our Father in Heaven.. Further none of the writers of the NT mention praying to anyone other than God. 3) Asking and receiving prayer; When we ask for prayer, intercessory prayer it is with those living on earth not those in heaven. Asking and being asked develops our faith. Something those in heaven already have. It builds the Body of Christ which are his believers on EARTH. Those in heaven already have total belief in Christ. There is nothing for them to build. 1 Corinthians 13:12 " Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." 4) Since we are instructed to only pray to God who is ably to hear us, praying to Mary or the saints would elevate them to that of God. You said, "they are MORE able to help pray for us". Let me ask you 2 questions 1) Is Jesus too busy to listen to your prayers? 2) Who would be closer to God in asking for prayer Jesus or Mary?
@@stever4181 My brother in Christ, aren’t you assuming they can’t hear our prayers without a specific verse from Scripture? Aren’t you assuming they have to be omnipresent to hear our prayers. Where’s your verse from Scripture that backs up your statement that in order to hear prayers in Heaven you have to be omnipresent? How do you know the Saints are limited by only 2 ears like we are here on earth? If your claim is, “if it isn’t in the Bible as a proof text then it isn’t true” you are denying context of scripture and risk missing key points of evidence for the whole truth of God’s word. For example, you cannot find a prooftext where Jesus explicitly states “I am God” but in context we can clearly see He was, is, and ever will be. Honestly, we can’t prove if the Saints can hear our prayers but if you deny they can’t pray for us you are implying they are handicapped to fulfill their roles in The Body and Church of Christ once they go to heaven. If they could pray for us when they were on earth, it is reasonable they can pray for us in Heaven. Also Revelation teaches us that the Elders and Angels offer up the prayers of the Saints Revelation 5:8 Paul tells us to pray for one another, we can only do that if we are asking each other for intercessory prayers to God. If we were told this by one of God’s Apostles then we know it’s God’s will. When you ask someone to pray for you, does it make more sense to ask your friends that barely go to Church, sin without repentance, and never honor our King? Your point to 1 Peter 3:12 works for my argument not yours. The Saints are sinless in heaven, so if we ask them to intercede for us then how much more does 1 Peter 3:12 apply in that context? Aren’t you assuming prayers are only for people on earth and not between earth and heaven? Where is your proof text or context? The Catholic context is that the Saints are active in the Church in heaven. Based on Jesus saying God isn’t the God of the dead and if the Saints were actively serving here on earth then they are doing the same in heaven. Prayer does build our faith but that’s not all it does. When we ask someone to pray for us it helps our prayers get to God. We were never instructed NOT to ask others in the Body and Church of Christ to pray for us. Our prayers to Saints simply asks them to pray for us. The definition of prayer is “to ask”. As for your last point, Jesus is God, and when He was on earth he gave Mary to us as a Mother John 19:26-27. So out of all the Saints in Heaven she is the closest to God because she is the Mother of God. Apply 1 Peter 3:12 and it is reasonable to ask her to pray for us.
My friend don't be sad for them because if they are saved they have a passport to heaven. You may have the truth of the Catholic church but most of them have the truth of God
I grew up Catholic. I was confirmed. Later on in life I was saved and studied the Word of God on my own. I have a Catholic Bible, I appreciate the Catholic canon for the extra books it has such as the wonderful Book of Sirach, or Ecclesiasticus. I do not embrace their church or heretical teachings. Calling a man Holy Father goes directly against what Jesus Christ taught. Do not pray using vain repetitions. These teachings are taught in the Sermon on the Mount. Praying to statues is idolatry, graven images as the Bible calls it. "And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." - Luke 11:27-28 Someone says to Jesus that Mary is blessed and he immediately corrects them and says blessed instead are those who keep the Word of God. "And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" - Luke 2:48-49 Mary says Joseph and her have been looking for Him and he immediately corrects her and says the God is His Father and not Joseph. Anyway I hope you pursue biblical truth, and no matter where you go please make sure you compare your preacher's teachings with what is in the Word of God. God bless you 🙏
Hey mate :) Does the Catholic Church teach, that praying to statues is okay? Jesus himself prayed in the garden of Getsemania 3x the same words. This was not vain repetition. So why would praying things repeatedly (like for a example the rosary) be vain. As for Luke 11: Jesus says that those are blessed who keep his word. Mary kept always his word. That is why she is blessed (and not (only) because she is his mother. Paul calls Abraham in Romans Chapter 6 his father several times. So it seems to me that the verses you are referring to have a slight different meaning, haven’t they?
Where in the bible does it say about asking your friends to pray for you? But you still ask and people, and still people pray as a intercessor. But you think the mother of The son of God, could not intercede for you? Mary will always lead you to her son Jesus. Never br afraid of loving Mary, you could never love her more than God Did.
Thank you for mentioning us Orthodox. We share a great deal and while we do have theological differences, we are closely related and I hope that one day we can be one again. Not without having resolved those differences, but in spirit and truth.

Former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, of Canada, was a mamma's boy who lived with his mother until he was 40. He prayed to Mary twice a day. He married a woman who was a tramp. He was kind to women who were decent but was cruel to women that were sleazy. Quebec was the most Catholic part of North America for two hundred years. Hey Melanie, of course I will do. A bit of background, I was raised Catholic and during my teen years, I really moved away from my believes. Life seemed fine and went on to college and grad school. During grad school, I met my, now wife, who is a devoted catholic. I even said to her to not expect me to go to church with her. Obviously, since I love her so much, I would go with her to Church almost every Sunday, but I was just sitting there, not really immersed in Mass. Fast forward a few years, during the pandemic, my wife asked me to pray the Rosary everyday to consagrate our new born with the immaculate heart of Mary. During the prayer, my 2 month old daughter started laughing and I started smelling flowers. It was beautiful. That was my first encountered but I didn’t make much of it. A year after, we were praying the Rosary again because my wife wanted me to. We put some flowers in Holy Water and prayed. I went to sleep and I dreamed of the Virgin Mary. She said to me: don’t worry Diego, all will be okay. The day after, I had scheduled a follow up upper endoscopy just to make sure I didn’t have any pre-cancerous condition from my severe acid reflux. The endoscopy came clean and I just couldn’t believe it. Like if nothing happened. I called the doctor to tell her that the results were a mistake, and she said no that it was what she had seen. I was perplexed. At this point, I started believing a bit more again. The last encounter happened just 2 weeks after when my wife and I went to Mexico City. We went to the Basicila of Guadalupe and when I saw the Virgin’s image, it felt like she told me: Diego, you’ve been looking for answers for many years now and nothing has worked. Go back to the Lord as He is the answer to all your problems. I must say that my marriage has been difficult mostly because of our families and I was falling in depression because I just didn’t know what else to try. This time, I heard the Virgin and actually did what she said to me. I started praying more. I grabbed the Bible and started reading more. My life has changed a lot since then. If it wasn’t for our blessed mother, I’d just be another sheep stray. But she brought me back to the Lord and I can say that things have improved in my life. When things don’t go my way, I don’t blame the Lord anymore but my own free will since that’s when issues start happening.

When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” Jesus replied, “Woman, why do you involve me? A lot of non Catholics will always use the word "to" when what Catholics really meant was "with". There's a huge difference. What non-Catholics always ask, "why do Catholics love to pray TO Saints and Mary?" What Catholics are actually doing is they pray 'WITH' the Saints and Mary through intercession.

@@jeffdunstan That’s fine. The Catholic Church teaches it’s POSSIBLE to ask the Saints and Mary for intercession; it’s not required. But consider this: Can I not pray for you and you pray for me? We Catholics believe it’s the same thing when praying with Mary and the Saints because they are part of the mystical body of Christ and are alive in Heaven. We do this not because we need to, but because we want to pray with others. ❤
I am born and raised orthodox. And it wasn't until adulthood that I realized we had to pray to Mary. I really appreciate how you say that you want to answer people's sincere questions. I am struggling with this sooo terribly. I never prayed to anyone but God. Never thought about it. Grew reading the bible. Grew up constantly seeking God. Then after 20 years in an atheist country I came back to my orthodox country where I have been basically told that if I don't pray to Mary I am disrespecting God. I am disobeying God. And I am suspicious to all for not praying to Mary and the saints, but especially Mary. Can anyone please please please help. As I can't do this. I met a man just today. An older man, who randomly struck a conversation with me saying he believes in Mary. I pressed him about Jesus, but he kept refusing to acknowledge Jesus, and said that Mary healed him a number of times and that he just believes in Mary. Now, I know you say we aren't praying to her we are asking for her intercession. But the akathists, the paraclises, if they aren't worship, if their wording isn't meant to create confusion, then I don't understand what worship is then. If it smells like a dog, and barks like a dog and looks like a dog. Why are you calling it not a dog? This is what I struggle with the most. Because if ever I nerd help form the church, I am given only one solution. Go home and pray to Mary. That's that. How is this not worship? Which one of you has time to devout 1.5hrs (which is how long the paraclises takes to read) to Mary? And then where do you fit prayer to God?? Where is your relationship with God? Why aren't we allowed a relationship with God? Aren't we meant to be one of the saints? Each of us? Who are supposed to love God with all our heart and all our might? Will Mary stand besides each of us in the day of judgement when our lives are weighed and cover for us?? How is this anything to do with what the Bible teaches? How? I sincerely want to repent and be told I am wrong if I am wrong. But I sincerely cant see the truth of this. Please help.
ok brother, seems like you cannot yet accept the concept of 'intercessory prayer'... that'll be the first hurdle for you to overcome. As Keith was mentionning the *saints are alive in Heaven, can receive our prayers/requests and take them to God* , he cited scripture to back this up. Do you accept that? Then you have to realize that some 'people' are more efficacious than others when praying/asking God, right? James 5:16 “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”.
If you want to be saved just pray to Jesus telling Him that you *believe* He died on the cross for your sins, then simply *ask Him* to set you free from sin. Exodus 20:3-17. That's it. And Jesus will immediately *trade life's records* with yours, replacing your sinful life with His perfect one, your guilty with His _not guilty_ so you can prepare yourself for judgment. It's easy! Do it now.
As Catholics, the holy bible teach us, only the human body dies but our soul (spiritual body) still lives (temporal) until the day on final judgement. When our body dies, our souls will then get a temporal judgement. We either go to heaven, hell or purification (purgatory). Our dead bodies can't hear but our souls can. In that sense all our prayers and intentions can be heard and ask the angels and saints including Mary for the intercession of our prayers to God. But we can also pray and worship directly to God. And worship deserve only to God. We can only show respect for Mary but not worship her. That's why in the Holy Rosary we say Mother Mary ... pray for us.And not Mother Mary... I pray to you or worship you. We ask our Mother Mary's help to pray to God so that our intentions will be heard. Just imagine how Mary played an important role when Jesus did the first miracle on the wedding at Cana. Even Jesus told her that the time has not come for Him to do so but He did it anyway because of her insistence and his love and respect to her Mother. That's how influential she is.
Im a Protestant and i simply pray to the Father in Jesus’ name. Jesus says that the only way to the Father is through him. When I pray I pray with the leading of the Holy Spirit and close out my prayers with in Jesus’ name. Because Jesus said whatever you ask the Father in my name I will do it. John 14:13.
If Jesus is the only way to the Father why do we have preachers? Why are we to evangelize? WHY DOES Jesus say go and spread the Gospel ? Did you Baptise yourself? Seems that there a lot of people that can lead us to the Father.
Preachers and Pastors are the lifeblood of evangelization and are incredibly important. But, you are absolutely out of your mind if you're making the case the Catholic idolatry of Mary is the same level of respect we give a preacher. Catholic obsession with Mary is Pagan and rooted in Constantines attempts to bring the Pagan Roman empire to Christendom. You're fighting ghosts.@@leecisneros4863
Great explanation, Keith. I returned to Holy Mother Church after 17 years in Bornagainistan. When I returned, Jesus gave me a mother, his own mother. I am now on Team Jesus & Mary. Thank you for creating this video.
YOU: Jesus gave me a mother, his own mother. *ME: Please show the verse in the NT written by the guys that KNEW Mary, that says Jesus gave us his own mother.... NONE. Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 12:46-50 that Mary isn't even Jesus' mother in the Kingdom of GOD.* If you are going to suggest that John 19:25-27 are the verses, then I suggest you read verse 25 again -- *Did Jesus tell ALL of the believers at the foot of his cross that Mary was THEIR mother ?? No.* Jesus selected ONE believer out of the group of believers and told that ONE believer to take care of Mary (physical needs) as he would his own mother, and from that hour that ONE believer took Mary to his own personal physical home/property.
@@veritasmuy2407what about the Gospels the Protestants took out of the bible because it was about the Catholic Church. Or how Luther had a devotion to Mary
We know that there is no Bible passage, but Jesus had a mother, that is a fact. and why aren't we allowed to worship them now?? I did not get that correctly.
@@Union-City-Man YOU: but Jesus had a mother, that is a fact. and why aren't we allowed to worship them now?? *ME: Because JESUS is your Savior -- your only Redeemer -- the only one that "redeemed/paid a ransom" for your Eternal Life* -- see Romans 5:12-21. *The Resurrected Jesus is GOD* -- see Rev 1:17-18, Hebr 1:8-13 -- *and can be worshiped as GOD -- John 20:28, etc.* Mary is nothing but another human creature that GOD used to bring about GOD's plan of Salvation for Mankind -- Mary was only chosen because she was a descendant of KING DAVID -- see Luke 1:32, John 7:42, Revelation 22:16. *You are "worshiping/venerating" a mere female creature and elevating her to the level of GOD by giving her all of the attributes that belong to GOD/Messiah ALONE* -- sinless, immaculately conceived, redemptrix, mediator, Ark, leader to Christ, giver of grace, protector, crusher of Satan, etc -- *thus GOD has cursed the Roman hierarchy with rampant homosexuality for teaching these blasphemies -- see ROMANS 1:25-28.*
Thank you for pointing out these things. As a lifelong Prot. confirmed Catholic for nine years and trying at 80 to be the best Catholic I can be. I believe everything you are saying but you articulate it so well. Thank God for the Scriptures and the Traditions of the Apostles. (Which I believe Paul mentions in one of his letters)
Keith hits it right again. Praise our Lord Jesus Christ for our blessed mother who without her would not have been brought forth through the power of the holy spirit through her consent. The saints who are our role models for living because they lived life in the light of Jesus extremely for love of Him.

For us catholics, we understand our relationship with the saints and angels and our departed brethren as a "communion of saints". Those who departed from this life faithfully to Christ, are indeed saved. The saved are indeed in heaven enjoying the beatific vision of our God. Therefore "dead" saints are actually living in God's presence, just like the angels. And being in the communion of saints, we can indeed ask for their intercession. Our protestant brethren do not believe in the communion of saints, they're missing out on a lot of help to get us through this hard life. Thanks Keith for a very good podcast.
YOU: Therefore "dead" saints are actually living in God's presence, just like the angels. *ME: Right. But GOD has forbidden His people to speak to the living Spirits of physically dead Saints -- its called necromancy and is the work of witches and mediums.* Since the OT is our example (1Corinth 10:11) -- we can clearly see what GOD did to Saul for asking assistance of the Spirit of physically dead Saint Samuel in. 1Samuel 28:15 and 1Chron 10:14 -- suggest you read GOD's opinion. *That is why there is NEVER a verse in God's written Scripture that says to pray to anyone except GOD/Jesus* -- see John 14:13-14, Matthew 6:7-9, Phil 4:6, Acts 12:5, Isaiah 8:19, etc Every time you speak to or ask assistance of a Spirit of a physically dead Saint/Believer, you are doing the work of a witch. *Besides, those Saints/Believers in Heaven are focused on praising and worshiping GOD/Jesus, they are not aware or concerned about your Aunt Betsy's cancer, etc -- see Revelation 5:9-13, Revelation 7:9-12.* The ONLY prayers/requests of believers in Heaven is for GOD to avenge their deaths at the hands of those on the earth -- Rev 6:9-10 -- and GOD answers that prayer/request by sending fire from the altar in Heaven to the earth -- Rev 8:3-5. It is a complete waste of time for you to ask a Saint/Believer in Heaven for assistance -- they are in the joy of HEAVEN, they are not aware of the horrors or trouble on earth.
YOU: our relationship with the saints and angels *ME: Angels only respond to the directions/instructions/words of GOD -- Psalm 103:20 -- angels do not respond to humans -- humans are to PRAY TO GOD, and if God chooses, He will command an Angel to minister/help the human -- see Peter's example in Acts 12:5-11.* If you experience a beautiful "vision of light" that you think is an Angel communing with you, you have been deceived by Satan -- see 2Corinth 11:14. *Like that "vision of light" at Fatima was Satanic -- it even did the SAME satanic miracle that the evil end time Anti-Christ will do in Revelation 13:13-14* -- made a ball of fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men, and DECEIVED those dwelling on the earth by that miracle.
That's awesome. I like that a lot. And don't worry, I don't think Jesus will be angry with you for asking His mom to pray for you, whether she can hear you or not. If it keeps you from sinning or it's therapeutic, I think it's great 👍
@sammygomes7381 One is a cow, the other is Jesus' mother. The cow was worshipped. We ask Mary to pray to Jesus for us, "...pray for us sinners..." It's not difficult to understand unless you're slow 😄
@@dannyfantastico The Golden calf could not hear or speak sounds a lot like what happens to us when we are buried. If you want to test this theory, go to the local morgue and ask one of those people lying on the slab to pray for you and let me know their answer. While you're at it, explain to God why you are requesting the dead to pray for you when Christ not only taught us how to pray to the Father but died on the cross so you had direct contact with the Father. It's not too difficult to understand if you are indeed born again and follow Christ, not Mary.
I'm not Catholic, but I'm beginning to understand this idea of intercession that they believe. For Catholics, all the saints, including Mary, are with God in heaven. To them, all believers both living and dead are family. In this sense, when you ask someone on earth to pray for you, there is no difference in asking for one of the saints in heaven to pray for you. We are not all alone, we have others who have helped us in this life from parents and teachers to friends, some are still alive and some have passed on. Surely, those who have passed into the next realm are rooting for those who now live.
Let me tell you why I pray for Mary's intercession. I was born and raised catholic. Left church as an young adult, converted few years into adulthood and... went to the local evangelical church, thinking they must have all the anwers. I did not understand, at time, any of catholic teachings. I wanted nothing to do with the Catholic Church. But God had other plans. There are many reasons I decided to left that evangelical church, but it would take way too long to share them. I did it and then asked myself - now what? Another protestant denomination? I can't just... not go to the church. But what if I would go back to the Catholic Church? "Nah", I thought. "Yeah", God said. I believe the Holy Spirit took that thought and took on me on a crazy ride - few days later I realised, I do believe in purgatory, Mary and all the dogmas I could remember. That was only a preview, as I'm an amateur theologist and I do my research. It took me some time to go back to my old parish and talk to the rector. I went the official way and I was going to enter the confession... which I did struggle with the most. And by that time, all the issues from my past, including ones from the former church, and tough situation at work... took it's toll. I went on sick leave for over a month, stressed and depressed, and I've lost myself completely. I could not find my way back to Christ. I was truly desperate, so... I prayed to Mary, not only asked her for help, but entrusted myself completely to her hands. It helped - I've softened to the idea of the confession and went straight to the loving arms of our Lord! Since then, She is with me constantly, guiding me gently and always towards Her Son. She never keeps anything for Herself, cause She always points and leads to Her beloved Son. Why pray for Mary's intercession then? It's simple - She asks Her Son to do something in our lives, through the Holy Spirit, and whatever She is asking is always Father's will. She is so close with the Holy Trinity. She is revered as the Mother by the Son, She serves the Father as the obedient Daughter, and She is the beloved Spouse of the Holy Spirit. To make it simple - She is awesome, because God is awesome. It's all about God giving Her fullness of the grace, so She could be born without the original sin, live a sinless life, bear His Son willingly, raise Him to be the man He was and be the Mother of the nascent Church. All the glory to God, cause She is the humblest of us all, elevated by God to be the Queen of Heaven, so She could still serve His church as the Handmaid of the Lord.

@@bluesky45299 we believe in trinity because it’s reality is shown in the Bible and as Catholics, we believe in the Christian Bible, not the Quran. Christ calls to his father as being God and Jesus says, “before Abraham was, I Am” showing us that he is in union, a person of the holy trinity, with God the Father, since at the burning bush, God the Father told Moses he was “I Am.” It’s totally possible for perfection to exist in 3 different persons, because it is a holy trinity, because they make up the single one God, and it isn’t impossible for God to be perfect in 3 persons, if it was impossible, then he wouldn’t be God because nothing is impossible for God and Jesus Christ himself said that he is God throughout the Gospel, as I mentioned. I have a question though: catholics say that they're not worshipping, just talking, asking for help, etc. . However, I have seen many also bow to the statue of Mary during those prayers. Like get on their, knees before a mary statue to say a whole rosary(even though repetative prayers are put down in the Bible). Yes, you may say that bowing is not worship, but when John bowed to the angel and when I think Peter was bowed too, why did they stop it immediately? Both the angel and Peter clearly said to stop because they are just servants of the Lord. Why is that considered different now? Wouldn't that still be worship since it's the same action? Second, since prayer to saints is said to be talking/asking to the ones who aren't on earth anymore, why is it that Saul was punished for trying to talk to Samuel? (1 samuel 28). Yes, he used a medium, but he just wanted help from a godly, holy man, right? While we don't use mediums to pray to the saints, couldn't it be considered a form of self-mediumship since we are connecting, talking, and asking for help to a person who's no longer alive on earth? Yes, we're not actively summoning them physically but isn't that still technically the same thing? We can get dreams and manifestations of Mary, isn't that sort of like how mediums can hear what the "dead" are saying? It is a manifestation of some kind or another.
If you are bowing before someone as an act of worship and that is your intent, well then your intent is worship. If you are bowing as a sign of respect like people do before royalty and your intent is to demonstrate your respect for their appointment it's just that and physical display and nothing more. We are just demonstrating our respect for the appointment of Mary. Don't worry so much it can paralyze you. It's has done that to me before. It's not healthy. The rosary is just another tool or physical act to help make a spiritual difference. Mt wife has a vivid imagination and when she becomes angst or upset or overwhelmed by something she will recite the rosary to give her mind a positive healthy thing to do rather than let it go on a rampage. Don't over think this stuff too much. Ask your questions and accept the answers. I was previously protestant and there was so much fear and intimidation in the way to think. I like most people was wooed by the peace of the Mass, especially orthodoxy. Here's is what helped me...the fact is any congregation of any faith in the world is going to have fake believers in the pews and genuine, and it might even change moment to moment...what matters to God is what is in your heart.
@@SomethingcleverandwittyBro there is only one God and only one intermediater between human and God. Saints are just humans like us. There is no point in asking them for help

I used to think the same way, I grew up a conservative branch of pentecostal protestant....and that fact should tell you what kind of problems I have.😅 Needless to say I've spent a lot of time at church at least 2 or 3 times a week. But in my 30s I became a man, I did my formal studies and I understood (what is in your heart means.) I spent 5 years studying religious history and for myself I have concluded the place I want to worship is in the catholic mass. When I was younger it was in a church service and now it's in a liturgical mass. You might find 15 years from now you have realized some changes in your life too! Don't fear it.
@perunasolanum3014 You only had read the bible in part. The patriarchs bowed before Joseph. Solomon bowed before her queen mother, David bowed before King Saul. Bowing is not always worship. It is respect.
It would be easy if Jesus didn't give His mom to us. And it wouldn't be so complicated if it weren't for the wedding at Cana. That's where Mary asked Jesus for a miracle even if it's not yet His time to do miracles
That's how all idol worship starts. Over the generations the "doctrines" become more convulated, more complex, more ridiculous. And people start inventing their own fantasies willy nilly, everything goes in the end. There's always a "reason", a justification. Just look at all the twists and turns and overturns that has to be made to support these "arguments", I can literally see the degradation happening in front of my eyes. Its so sad. I come from a culture that is steeped in it. I've studied, compared & contrasted, reflected and thought long and hard. Its sad to see the same old thing happening again, and again, and again. He promised to be always with it. No need to start another church because Jesus church would never fall. No matter what ; there may be bad popes and bishops but the Holy Spirit will preserve the church and prevent her from teaching error. Period.

Without Baptism, you are not a child of God.
@kaykrause4469 that is not what born again means. That is what Catholicism has led you to believe but the Bible says differently. To be born again is to repent and believe that Jesus died for your sins. Jesus never said that you have to get baptized or else you aren't saved. Take for example Luke 23:39-43. Even from your own number, men will rise up and distort the truth to draw away disciples after them.…" (acts 20:29-30) Notice the words, "Even from your own number," This is not looking into the future is is in their lifetime, your early church fathers. Sacred traditions are perfectly fine when the conform to scriptures. Sinless/assumed Mary, Jesus starting the CC, Peter the first Pope are just a few that scriptures do not support. Much of what you wrote is just nonsense. Baptism unnecessary? It does not save. Can you show me where infant baptism is in the Bible? No, Households do not mean infants. The early church and successors of the original 12 apostles prayed asking Mary’s intercession. And at the wedding of Canna, Jesus wasn’t ready to perform a miracle in public yet & to turn water into wine, but Mary asked him to and He wanted to do that for His mother so He did. He loves His mother and so just as we ask our friends to pray for us, we ask those in Heaven to pray (which just means-to ask) Jesus for us since they are in Heaven with Jesus. Praying is not a form of worship. Worship requires a sacrifice; it always has. But Protestants believe that praying is worshiping.
I guess they didn't learn anything from the apostles as they prayed only to God as did Christ. You can ask those living in the flesh for you but not so much those that are not alive in the flesh.
@@sammygomes7381 if you look at the earliest Christians you will see that they did ask (pray) for intercession from saints, they believed in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist (consecrated bread by a priest), all popes and bishops can trace their ordination (by laying on of hands) all the way back to Peter. The keys of the kingdom were given to Peter to bind and loose and he started His Church. The gates of Hell will not prevail against it. In addition when we ask for intercession from a saint, we are always praying to Jesus and asking for a saint (people in Heaven) to pray to Jesus for us as well as we pray to Jesus. We aren’t praying in the sense that you think. We ask for them to pray with us. I should have clarified that better in my original post. We believe in the communion of saints. We can pray for the souls who are in the process of purification in purgatory, and the saints in Heaven actually can pray for us. And the earliest Christians believed all of these things and were not challenged until about 700 years ago.
@@MelaniesManicures It wasn't the early Christians that believed in praying to saints and that Christ was in the bread but Catholics. Christ taught and the apostles followed only praying to God. You will not find where either of them prayed to anyone other than the Father and Christ taught this in several places. Christ never taught He is in the bread. He taught that as bread is required for life in the flesh, God's word is required for life for eternal life. There is no place in the bible that the apostles taught Christ was in the bread or that anyone could put Him there. They simply broke bread in remembrance of the price He paid as Christ commanded. What did the apostles teach on salvation? The grace of God is for faith in Christ, not eating Him but believing in Him. John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me shall never hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst." Whoever comes to me Christ didn’t say eat, but believe. Every Christian has the key to heaven, it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The gates of hell came close to prevailing against His church, but God sent the reformation. The bible does not teach praying to anyone other than God and I am pretty sue he didn't tell us to seek out those dead in the flesh. Communion of the saints doesn't mean communication with the saints. The communion of the saints refers to believers in the past, believers in the present, and believers in the years to come sharing a common salvation in our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who have passed from this world into the presence of Christ at the death of their body have the same salvation as believers who are alive today. Those who will come after us will have the same salvation we have. The communion of saints is what each one of us has in common with all other believers. We have been forgiven through His death and saved by His life (Romans 5:10), set free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2), and passed from spiritual death to eternal life (1 John 3:16). We have all been permanently adopted as children of God by the will of God (John 1:12-13). We have become God’s handiwork to do good works that He has prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10), and we have all been given an eternal home in the New Jerusalem in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Lamb, our Temple, and our Light (Revelation 21:22-27). These are only a few of the blessings we have in common with all other believers. Lastly when we die our destiny is sealed. Heaven or hell. Again, don't confuse what early Christians believed and Catholics believed and what Christ and the apostles taught. Many blessings in the new year.

It looks like for them it's hard to overcome things that they read or heard once. For those Christians, who ask Saints and Mother of God for intercession and help, the fact that they help is evident from personal experience similar like for Christians is evident to believe that Christ is the Lord Saviour.

Protestants have been doing that for nearly 500 years. Their overwhelming need to be right informs all the cherrypicking and non biblical "doctrines" that have created the hundreds of different denominations they have today.
Keith - I have been trying to express my views to many Protestants who question my faith and it is so difficult. My answer has always been the English Bible was only released in the 1500’s. How did the early Christians practice their faith then? It had to be through passing down tradition and teachings. This is so helpful about Mary and the Saints. What resonated and what is a great response, is Jesus transfigured with Elijah. Yes, yes, yes! Exactly. Also, God has been making me ponder on the early Christians a LOT. They were willing to enter into the lions den for Jesus with JOY and be martyred. How many of us today would enter the den, never mind joyfully? There’s so much that we don’t know, but I have a feeling God is going to be revealing the whole truth very soon. Thank you - this video will help me tremendously especially with my ministry!
The bible wasn't translated until 1522 because the Catholic church would have you executed for doing the translation. Might want to look up William Tyndale.
The point is, it doesn't have to be explicitly written down in the Bible to be true. Nothing in Sacred Tradition conflicts with Scripture. Once you come to that understanding, the Catholic Faith will make perfect sense to you.

I was raised Protestant and am exploring the subject of learning about Catholicism, so thanks for this explanation, as this issue has been completely foreign to me. It sounds like to Catholics, "prayer" means not exclusively worship, but communication. It sounds like Jesus prayed to the Father, but also the "dead" at the transfiguration. We ask other Christians to pray on our behalf all the time, which answers the question "why not just pray directly to God?" Obviously, the same question could be asked whenever we ask someone else to pray for us. The Bible explains that those in Heaven are witnesses to us, they rejoice when we come ti the Lord, and they are praying to the Father, and its a safe assumption that they aren't praying for themselves (to me that sounds like a very reasonable assumption, even if we don't know for sure). I also have learned that Catholics (correct me if im wrong) view the Church as one, The Church Militant (those of us in our current struggle here on earth) and the Church Victorious (those who have won eternal life), so I'd assume that Catholics believe that asking a Saint to intercede in prayer is much like asking a father, bishop, elder or fellow church member for prayer? Thanks for this concise, well communicated explanation of your position! I feel i learned a lot (more than i ever knew on the subject), and in about 10 minutes no less!
I prefer to describe it as praying with, and with the help, of Mary and the Saints. Not exactly praying to them as I ask of them nothing but their help in prayer.

But many Catholics have elevated her to the position of a deity which she never asked for.

Praying to the saints for intercession is a way of showing humility before God. Showing that we are not sin free and pure enough to be in his presence. I believe it is spiritually a good attitude.

Hey, thank you for clearing it up for those who are confused about it. As a born Catholic, I always receive questions from my friends who are either Christian or Anglican that "Oh you're catholic so you pray to Mary and not Jesus? You guys don't believe in Jesus and worship Mary." And I was like, "No..?" Because in my experiences with the Roman Catholic church masses, people can come in and also see that we do not pray directly to Mother Mary, we pray to Jesus Christ and read passages in the Bible all the time. Even when I do my personal prayers, I pray to Jesus Christ all the time. The only time we pray for intercession with Mother Mary is the Holy Rosary prayer, where yes, as you mentioned we pray the 'Our Father' prayer a lot in it as well as 'Glory Be' prayer together. I don't exactly know the reason why we do intercessions with Mother Mary as well, but I was taught that praying the Holy Rosary is a weapon against sin. When we pray it, it's praying for redemption of sin not just for us but for all the sinners in the world as well. I find it personally a very humbling act of praise and worship, and like you said in this video, we don't exactly pray to the saints as well. In the Holy Rosary prayer sessions that I went to for years, at the end of the prayer we will ask the Saints, Mother Mary and Michael the Archangel to pray for us after meditating on the 5 mysteries (There is 4 sets of it, it's changing depending on the day you pray, the mysteries are all events of Jesus' journey in the Bible). I see it as it is, it's like asking your church community to pray for you because prayer is powerful when its in a group. I believe it is what you said that we're asking those that are in heaven now with God to pray for us because they are near God, literally in heaven where God is. The more prayers the better to fight off sin and build His kingdom.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians: In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death.

Praise God for giving us so many weapons for our faith
So tell me why pray to Mary or the saints when Jesus only told us to pray to God? Is Mary above God?
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known."
4) Since we are instructed to only pray to God who is ably to hear us, praying to Mary or the saints would elevate them to that of God.
You said, "they are MORE able to help pray for us". Let me ask you 2 questions
1) Is Jesus too busy to listen to your prayers?
2) Who would be closer to God in asking for prayer Jesus or Mary?
@@stever4181
My brother in Christ, aren’t you assuming they can’t hear our prayers without a specific verse from Scripture? Also Revelation teaches us that the Elders and Angels offer up the prayers of the Saints Revelation 5:8
Paul tells us to pray for one another, we can only do that if we are asking each other for intercessory prayers to God.
I pray that Jesus will use this wonderful and honest video from Keith as a tool to bring our brethren home ✝️🙏🏻😌🤍

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." - Luke 11:27-28
Someone says to Jesus that Mary is blessed and he immediately corrects them and says blessed instead are those who keep the Word of God.
"And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" - Luke 2:48-49
Mary says Joseph and her have been looking for Him and he immediately corrects her and says the God is His Father and not Joseph.
1 Timothy 2:5
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”

It was our Blessed Mother who brought me back to God. I had 3 encounters with her and the last one was very clear to me. 🙏
Can you share those encounters please? I’m a relatively new Catholic convert and I am interested in hearing your experience.
Mary's been in a grave for close to 2000 years so I am wondering what you saw.

What Catholics are actually doing is they pray 'WITH' the Saints and Mary through intercession.

It's easy! Do it now.
who was the greatest saint? It was Mary. Mary was the greatest saint to ever live. Just let that sink in for a moment.
There is only one mediator between God and man the Lord Jesus. Pray to Him. You have direct access brother . He WILLanswer.

Brother Keith going hard Our lady keep you
For us catholics, we understand our relationship with the saints and angels and our departed brethren as a "communion of saints".
YOU: our relationship with the saints and angels
*ME: Angels only respond to the directions/instructions/words of GOD -- Psalm 103:20 -- angels do not respond to humans -- humans are to PRAY TO GOD, and if God chooses, He will command an Angel to minister/help the human -- see Peter's example in Acts 12:5-11.*
If you experience a beautiful "vision of light" that you think is an Angel communing with you, you have been deceived by Satan -- see 2Corinth 11:14.
Perfectly put
I have to wonder if people know the meaning of "communion of saints". Sorry my friend but those lying in a grave cannot hear you, cannot speak.

I’m Protestant. I pray the Rosary and found it effective to keep from sin.
Some protestants may do that but not Christians as it is a Satanic thing, not the word of God.
That's awesome. I like that a lot. And don't worry, I don't think Jesus will be angry with you for asking His mom to pray for you, whether she can hear you or not. If it keeps you from sinning or it's therapeutic, I think it's great 👍

B@@sammygomes7381 no difference at all
Save by grace alone
Through faith alone
In Christ alone
According to scripture alone
For the glory of God alone
That is sure a lot of different points that are all together while being alone with each other by themselves.
Scripture alone does not support faith alone 😂
I'm not Catholic, but I'm beginning to understand this idea of intercession that they believe. For Catholics, all the saints, including Mary, are with God in heaven. To them, all believers both living and dead are family. In this sense, when you ask someone on earth to pray for you, there is no difference in asking for one of the saints in heaven to pray for you. We are not all alone, we have others who have helped us in this life from parents and teachers to friends, some are still alive and some have passed on. Surely, those who have passed into the next realm are rooting for those who now live.

The Angel Gaberial,Hail full of grace is a prayer
All generations will call her the most blessed. Love you Mother Mary
@@oroGold-s5bcall her not worship her. And yes exactly.
I'm confused, what makes you say she's the queen of heaven?

Notice the words, "Even from your own number," This is not looking into the future is is in their lifetime, your early church fathers.
Now ask yourself the meaning of baptism. Salvation comes from those who answer God's call. Infants can not do that.

JesusChrist is the only mediator between us and God. Not a saint or Mary. The Rosary is all about Mary and very little about Jesus or God. She has been lifted up higher than the Father and The Son which is heretical

There ya go! Great summary.

Thank you Trina!

@@sammygomes7381the oral teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, along with the authority to interpret Scripture correctly, has been entrusted to the Catholic Church, through Apostolic succession. It's called The Magistirium. So it is false to say that no one knows what Sacred Tradition is.

"Every personal sin must be excluded from the Blessed Virgin Mary for the sake of the honor of God." - St. Augustine, 390 AD.
"Mary, a virgin not only undefiled but a virgin whom grace has made inviolate, free from every stain." - St. Ambrose of Milan, 340-370 AD.
"You, and your Mother are alone in this. You are wholly beautiful in every respect. There is in you, Lord, no stain, nor any spot in your Mother." - St. Ephraem, 350 AD.

You are getting it! I can tell you are really trying to understand. God bless

I prefer to describe it as praying with, and with the help, of Mary and the Saints. Not exactly praying to them as I ask of them nothing but their help in prayer.

Praying to the saints for intercession is a way of showing humility before God. Showing that we are not sin free and pure enough to be in his presence.
I believe it is spiritually a good attitude.
Lovely
The saints weren't pure either. So how can they help you? What kind of nonsense is that?
And . . . so you _do_ pray to other sinners. Yeah, _that's_ biblical. 🧐 And you wonder why we Christians keep telling you that your counterfeit Christian "church" is total satanic rubbish.
@@floogelhornzzz4770 they, being in the presence of our Lord, are no longer flawed as they were on Earth. They are in Heaven and people in Heaven no longer sin or even have the inclination to sin
But he tells us to "boldly approach the throne of grace that we might receive help in time of need" ... in Hebrews. Presumably while we're alive on earth. So therefore not sinless perfection.
No one born Catholic. One has to make a decision to follow Christ or the Catholic church.

Some people will NEVER understand because the Holy Spirit has not reveal himself to them. I believe in the true saint catholic and Apostolic church and its teachings.
I can show you but it's a lie from Satan. Catechism of the Catholic church 966 "Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death." The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians: In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death.
