Which was the best adventure game ever made for the Commodore 64? 😇🕹👌 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= More from 1987: tinyurl.com/1987-C64-GAMES My Top Picks: tinyurl.com/CCGS-BEST-GAMES
Yeah you're right, how a game could captivate me and keep me hooked for all these years... the guys at Lucasfilm sure knew how to make some mighty fine games and it's thanks to those guys I really got into the Adventure gaming genre in the first place 😇🕹️👌
This was the beginning of an era where I'd have black bags under my eyes and got myself grounded a good few times, staying up late into the night, hiding the 'power' light on my Commodore 64 to prevent it from illuminating in the room... just so I could play this game well into the night, even as a kid - haha, great memories 😇🕹️👌
Awww .. what a lovely video about one of my all-time golden classics ! Well presented and explained, and you didn't dissapoint me regarding Ed, his pet, and what to do with it 😆👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer yep, you definately did, muchly appreciated 😊 ... it made me digging for other golden C64 classics in my memories that i miss and would love to see again in a video like this one, and what came out is "Skate or die" and "California Games" 😁😎
My number 2 favorite C-64 game of all time. I got this for my birthday and I played this for hours and hours. I tried about every option possible. Other versions were better, but this sits close to my heart.
Sounds like you did the same as me, I played it with every combination of character... trying different ways every time - that was the Amiga version back when I was a kid. Man. The memories 😇🕹👌
Yeah, it's a nice little touch that - I love it when you can discover 'games within games' and shows that the developer cares about the players of the games they love 😇🕹👌
Yeah, every kid has their own music tune and stuff, allthough there is some censorship (there is an awesome document about how they fought Nintendo, i recommend reading it!). you should try it :)@@CheekyCommodoreGamer
Yeah, and maybe i'm biased... well, not maybe, i AM biased, but going from the NES version to the Amiga feels so... quiet, same with the "Macventure" series (Deja Vu, Shadowgate, Uninvited) for the NES, when you play those versions you can't really go to other versions sadly...@@QuagmiresDooflab
It's tough, but it's do-able. When I was a kid this was all I played for a few weeks and managed to cover a fair few of the endings. But I don't remember how I managed it looking back now 😇🕹👌
"Don't be a tunahead!" I still have MANIAC MANSION for my Amiga 500 as one of the Kixx XL games 😺👍🕹️. I also had its brilliant sequel, MANIAC MANSION 2: DAY OF THE TENTACLE, for my old PC on the Talkie CD-ROM back in the mid 1990's. When i walked into Ed's room in that sequel, i noticed the computer, used it... and played the original MANIAC MANSION 😹👍🕹️. MANIAC MANSION is a legendary classic game on the Commodore 64 and Amiga 😺👍🕹️.
It is, a true classic amongst C64 & Amiga retro gamers alike - but its also a game that newcomers to the system will enjoy once they learn the SCUMM system 😇🕹👌
@@grumsproduktion4083 I played ZAK MCKRACKEN AND THE ALIEN MINDBENDERS on my Amiga 500 so many times 😹👍🕹️. In fact, it is the first of LucasFilm Games, I have ever played as a kid 😺👍🕹️.
I have a PC Big Box on the way to may mailbox right now. Had it when I was a kid. Just repurchased it. Huge box. Compliation thingy. Maniac Mansion, Zak Makracken, Loom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Monkey Island 1 in it. I love those old games.
Thats some epic compilation! The amount of fun I had with all those games was unreal... to be able to go back and experience them all for the first time would be the best day ever! Oh and also, I love Thimbleweed Park, I didn't want to go up to bed one day, I was so fixated with it haha 😇🕹️👌
I remember emptying out the swimming pool, sending a character down into the pool, and then refill it! * Blub blub blub! * Then a tombstone popped up on the lawn! Oops!
You certainly can! SO many different ways to mention - but I found a nice piece with all of the ways this is possible... here -->> tinyurl.com/bdhtvs8j 😇🕹️👌

One of my favoriet C64 games. I played this one and Zak McKracken so much. I still have the originals of them.
Ahh brilliant, they're super hard to find in retro fairs and whenever I do they're like £50 each minimum hehe. I'll get them someday 😇🕹👌
This was a gift of the gods back then. I think the graphics are sublime and still hold up fine today

Genre defining doesn’t do this masterpiece justice.
Also fun how MM is included in MM2 (also brilliant) as a game on one of the arcades.

Ahh awesome, am glad this one brought back some nice memories especially the hamster & the microwave. Couldn't resist 😇🕹️👌

California Games is up there on the channel... I'll definitely get around to Skate Or Die sometime too, another classic 😇🕹️👌
I loved this game! I even did the alternate ending (draining the pool).
Ah yeah!! There were so many epic endings, the replay value of this game is legendary 😇🕹️👌
Never seen this game without the Eaglesoft crack intro. 😝
Hehe yeah the majority of the games nowadays are all cracked 😆🕹👌

Played this game with friends in the weekend. Still have fond memory of it.
It's a very iconic game indeed, one for the moniker of 'classic' for sure 😇🕹👌
You know in its sequel day of the tentacle you can play this game if you find the computer in one of the rooms in the present era.
Yeah, it's a nice little touch that - I love it when you can discover 'games within games' and shows that the developer cares about the players of the games they love 😇🕹👌
Man, i was such a tuna head for not having this on the C64, allthough the NES version IS the best version
NES version, the best? Don't be a Tuna Head 😆 I love this game. Great isn't it 😇🕹👌
Yeah, every kid has their own music tune and stuff, allthough there is some censorship (there is an awesome document about how they fought Nintendo, i recommend reading it!). you should try it :)@@CheekyCommodoreGamer
No way!
The NES version has the best music and pretty good graphics, but the censorship is a big downer.

I have never completed this game once, imagine playing and completing once with every permutation!
It's tough, but it's do-able. When I was a kid this was all I played for a few weeks and managed to cover a fair few of the endings. But I don't remember how I managed it looking back now 😇🕹👌
This is one of those games I know I should like more. But I respect it for what it did, rather than enjoying it or the sequel as games.
Not at all... games can be very subjective so I respect that. Hopefully tomorrow's video will tantalise the nostalgic memories 😇🕹👌
I had this on DOS. Got me hooked on Lucas Arts.
Yeah the whole series of games are just pure classics in their own right aren't they. So many jokes and brilliant puzzles 😇🕹👌
Amazing game 🤘🏻 and memories.
Brilliant memories playing this - still such a great game 😇🕹👌

@@CheekyCommodoreGamer check out the Blackwell games, if you havent played them.
I'll have a look into those, another series of games I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into 😇🕹️👌
Always wanted to play this one.
Never too late - Maniac Mansion still has the same awesome appeal today as it did all the way back then 😇🕹️👌
In my top 10 C64 games for sure!
Definitely has to be right up there doesn't it xxx
Great stuff!! Do Zak McKracken too?
I'll certainly be revisiting that one real soon 😇🕹️👌
Great game, should play it again soon.
Definitely, its still just as fun and addictive now as it was all the way back then 😇🕹️👌

Best times ever :-)
Absolutely, was just a fun game and there are so many ways to complete it with the different combinations of characters. Love Lucasfilm games 😇🕹️👌
Haha! Back in the day when games were funny. Great game this 😂
Simpler times... happier times... oh and then there was Leisure Suit Larry and all I wanted to see was boobs too 😇🕹️👌
