- Mitre square with micro adjustment.
I used mainly hand tools to make this project.
Materials: spring steel, brass, boxwood.
Micro adjustment allows set this tool precise in 45/135 degrees.
It is accurate enough for woodworking.
I'm not 100 % glad how the brass pins looks (thin black ring around), but after that i am richer for new experience and new skills.

Mam pytanie, gdzie kupujesz drewno do projektów? A jeśli sam je suszysz to może zrobiłbyś o tym jakiś film? Myślę, że wiele osób chętnie to zobaczy.

Dzięki :) to oryginalna "naklejka" , moja Szafka warsztatowa wisiała kiedyś w małej pracowni szkutniczej.
Pozyskiwanie drewna na strugi
w moim przypadku polega na poszukiwaniu odpowiednich przekrojów. Zgodnie ze sztuką materiał (buczyna) powinien być łupany zimą w kliny (tak jak kroi się tort) i następnie suszony i parzony. Za dużo zachodu żeby przygotować rzetelny film na ten temat, ale może kiedyś.. Zobaczymy :)

And about the gap between the wood and the brass pins...a solution might be to have the rings of the pins a little oversized, but with a bit of a taper (chamfer) at the bottom so you could drive them in the wood. The wood fibers would get compressed right up to the pin, which would hopefully be seamless after sanding. But perhaps the wood is too hard and brittle and might crack...
Other option...make the wood wet after inserting the pins, to force the fibres to expand around the rings? Or make the holes wet *before* inserting the pins?
(Just thinking out loud...)
I was thinking about making it oversized and add little chamfer. Soon i will do it on the lathe and i'll check how it fits.

I really love your boxwood cellar, i was so luckily to get some really big pieces of Boxwood from my Nighbor. I will make and restore the one and other plane too so it will become handy.
P.S. did you ever heard about cherry laurel? Its a east european hardwood and i did some tests with it in comparision of boxwood and i think its more hard, dense and durable than boxwood.
And its a real joy to work with.

I'm a fan! Just make it as accurate as you want to. What I was thinking you were going to make is an adjustable mitre square just like a combination square, I often think it's something my mitre square misses

Why are the log stock at 2:22 painted white? What is the paint for? Thanx.
The colour doesn't matter. The paint helps to prevent the wood from cracks during drying process.

about the brass gaps, maybe you could fill the spaces with superglue and boxwood saw dust or you could spread out the brass by adding a ring of decorative center punch marks?

About 'cold forging' the brass pins to the washers, the big ball head hamer was not fine enough to get a seamless bond. Have a look at this Clickspring fragment:

That's why it's called micro adjustable
The screws makes it adjustable. You can set 45 deg preety accurate.
