I bought Expert Card Technique 30 years ago because my teacher told me to. I didn't understand any of it. Bugger all. I thought this is hopeless I'll never become a card magician. I flipped through it and got to the last chapter: Presentation. This is the first paragraph if my memory serves me well. It read: If you are the sort of person who can just go up to a group of people you have never met and start entertaining them you don't need to read any more. So I closed the book and never looked at it again. Maybe you could check that for me...was a bloody long time ago.

That's because I've never read any of them! 😆 I know I probably should, because I've heard many magicians recommend them. But I just never have. As a feedback, as i enjoy your content in general: Lack of preparation in the video is striking. I cannot stop the impression that that video is made ad hoc, quickly to fill up affilate links. Lack of good light management kills books presentation. And also statements like i "did not read it yet" - or - "i did not read it at all" make think that it is not thought through selection of books.
Hey thanks for your feedback. Really the idea of amazon affiliate links was an afterthought, right before I started filming. And actually the whole video concept was an after thought as well! I just received the box of books from the mail after 5 weeks... and was about to open it... when I thought HEY... this could be a fun video, unboxing stuff.. and people get to see which books I was actually WILLING to pay even more money to have shipped to myself from around the world. It means the books that I will actively plan to use and think are valuable. So in a way I was sharing my choices and the time I spent previously researching on discussion boards which books are good to buy (even if I haven't read certain books). In fact, with YT I think it's nice to have some ad-hoc feeling videos which is what I was hoping to accomplish here... to be a little more casual and real-world. The lighting... I probably had too many lights on... and I was actually experimenting with filming in this location of the flat. So it is what it is. But I made sure viewers would be able to see the books, which I think is what counts. Choosing to ad affiliate links right before starting to film.... I think it's fair given I spent a good 15 hours total making this video. Editing takes a lot of time and selecting background music as well. So if I earn $3.00 after a month from affiliate links... I don't think it's the biggest scam in the world. 😆 And these are authentically the books I am using for myself. Not just listing here to make money.

"There is no royal road to geometry." is often attributed to Euclid. And this is more than just a true statement. In fact, there is no royal to any demanding discipline, and magic is no exception. Nonetheless, a great name for a book. BTW, magic books are quite cheap, judging by the collection from the video. I buy mostly maths and engineering ones. Prices for those start at 100$. Fortunately, it is my employer who foots the bill.
And then there comes an explanation for the "Ukraine issue". To quit software development (I totally get it, software dev is 99% very fucking boring) and try earn money from TH-cam, one had to downshift. Ukraine is quite horrible, but Kiev is quite cheap and it's a big city.
well it's a long story.. but essentially I quit my job in the US... sold everything... started backpacking across Europe... and then randomly landed in Ukraine. And now I work on videos full time, trying to make a living from this TH-cam channel :)

The man loves his dominos pizza. I'm an OG subscriber. I know this.

Are you interested in selling "The Tangled Web" ?
Hmmmm... I hadn't really thought about it. I suppose for the right price I would be willing to part ways with it. But probably I should speed read it before that.
@@JasonParkerMagic I've heard it was a really good book, but have had no luck in finding it. Let me know when your ready to part with it and a fair price. You can email me at 62terrykit62@gmail.com
I would probably not part with it unless it were a really good price. Just because I would have to rush and read through it sooner than later. And you are welcome to email if you'd like, my email can be found in the "About" tab of my TH-cam page.

I'm a subscriber and l follow you and appreciate you and your channel but l have a problem (or not) I'm brutally honest and your not so personable. Maybe I'm not adequately conveying what l mean. But I'm still a fan and hoping the best for you. Well me as well. I'm a rookie compared to you. Best regards to you. Cheers
Thanks for your best wishes... and ideas on how to address what you're talking about to be more personable?

Thought it was a fox , not a cat
l like the strong magic cover
Ukrane ?
Why ?
well it's a long story.. but essentially I quit my job in the US... sold everything... started backpacking across Europe... and then randomly landed in Ukraine. And now I work on videos full time, trying to make a living from this TH-cam channel :)
