Buzzfeed is all about social politics. This is just a video on an nice woman with a beard telling her story. The only political side of this video were those friends of hers who went on an on about "being suppressed" and "body positivity". Could have done without that. But otherwise, it's important to be able to tell the difference between social commentary, and honest thoughts. It seems like you're getting confused between the two.
Personally I'll be honest I would have to get some help as I would not want a beard as a woman, but I like how she doesn't let it affect her self confidence or let anyone else make her feel insecure and embarrassed, that's being comfortable with who you are, and we all need to be more like that.

Yes, I’m an NP in women’s health. PCOS can cause this, though typically not to this extreme. Her adrenal glands are kicking out too much testosterone. Notice how her calves are large and well defined, most of her weight is carried at the midsection...this is all evidence if testosterone excess.
Not to be rude, judging by your hair colour and possibly ethnicity, you are by no means alone at having slightly more hair, especially on your arms, it's just genes

Im 19 and have very similar hair growth to this, I've tried electrolysis and laser hair removal... Both of which have been Ineffective ... Having facial hair for me as a girl has been a struggle.. And trust me when you see people with such thick hair.. They HAVE tried it all.. But it just doesn't work. But everybody deals emotionally with this in their own way. I love this! X

Testosterone isnt the thing responsible for facial and body hair. Skins natural affinity towards testosterone is. Some people may be muscular and manly, yet have shitty facial hair; whereas some people can be overweight and have mantits, yet have thick beards. U're just not very lucky with ur genetics
Yup, absolutely that's one of the many symptoms of the Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome. Actually there are treatment for that, and for control the over growing of hair... But she likes to have all that symptoms out of control in her body 🤷

Wow. She is an inspiration to me. I weigh over 300 lbs because of the medicine I HAVE to take. My hair is short. And I hate myself because of these things. And men hate me too. I used to be a figure skater. I did gymnastics and ballet. I play guitar, violin and harp. And I feel like such a loser for getting this big. I wish I could do it like this woman. JJ Yeah she does have a condition but I simply applaud her because instead of “hiding” her condition meaning keep cutting it off for other people to deem as normal she embraces it and that’s what I admire. Technically think about what “Normal” actually is. Because everyone has there own opinions on what they think is the norm in society and then there are the ones who are on the out skirts of that term and they get judged and picked on. But regardless even though she has a condition I still admire that because she lets it define her in a good way regardless of what anyone has to say about it.
@@thepizzaelf actually, it's not rare at all. I know so many women that remove facial and body hair. Just like I did for 25 years. What's rare is women stepping outside what is expected of them, and letting it grow.
I believe her smile, her eyes, her confidence and her authenticity makes her attractive. I have PCOS too, and yes, people, we get hairier than most women. Get over it. But the excess hair is often the least of our concern with that disease. It also strip us from our fertility, which is much more painful to take. I also comes with depression and anxiety, higher risks of heart diseases, diabetes and ovarian cancer, abnormal periods, acne, male-pattern baldness, etc. Sounds like fun, eh? And no, people, laser hair removal treatments are not always effective to treat hirsutism. It had absolutely no effect on my hair patches that are due to PCOS. Respect ;)
I think PCOS is different from person to person. I have it. I have extra body hair (like on my legs, pubic region, snail trail, peach fuzz on my upper lip) and thats because I have a higher level of testosterone. I am at a higher risk for diabetes, because PCOS screws with my insulin levels, so I have to be wary of sugar and carbs. My periods are normal though, and I was told by two different doctors that if I wanted to have a baby, I easily could. PCOS isn't a defined condition.

Instead of accepting it, why not try to cure it? Why should it be who you are? Let's face it (no pun intended), in an ideal world she would probably choose not to have it and if she didn't have it from a condition from birth, she would go out of her way to try to grow a beard if she couldn't naturally.
This actually made me really happy. Inspiring that she can do this. I also have polycystic ovaries and a little bit of a mustache from it and even that makes me so self conscious. Seeing this makes me feel like maybe I should embrace it.
Ok, I'm not going to lie, the beard isn't attractive to me. The person however is very attractive because of her personality and I applaud her. She seems like a super sweet, fun person to be around and someone I would want to be friends with. Some of my friends and even some women thought I was crazy because the women I occasionally find attractive aren't the stereotypical super models. I find excessive make-up to be EXTREMELY unattractive and think little to no make-up is far better looking. While I like it when a woman is clean-shaven, some hair in certain areas don't bother me in the slightest, particularly armpit hair and leg hair. My friends don't know this about me but hairy legs and armpits just don't bother me. An extremely hairy bush, facial hair and chest would be off-putting however but I certainly wouldn't shun them or belittle them. A woman who grows out her beard to feel more comfortable in her own skin certainly has my admiration and support.

When I looked into electrolysis, they said legs and armpits and stuff was easy to remove permanently, however they couldn't guarantee cheekbone and upper lip hair removal would be permanent because it was hormone related hair growth (from my having PCOS). So maybe that is why...

Don’t worry about it dude, everybody is different. Your body uses the testosterone that you have for other things other than body hair. Actually, depending on how old you are, you may have low T and it might be worth it to get checked. You never know, you might actually end up growing a beard.

There's not much you can do. Either shave everyday or let it grow. Not all meds work. Waxing is painful and hair removal is expensive.

I have been dealing or at least trying to get through each day for 15 years with hirsutism myself.It's not easy especially when it comes to getting married .Every rejection is just mirror of a social stigma of beauty standard I go feel everyday.But on the other hand even though I am sceptical about it if someday some guy is willing to accept the fact what I am ,i will be 100% sure it is because of who I am not what I am.

I used to be a figure skater. I did gymnastics and ballet. I play guitar, violin and harp. And I feel like such a loser for getting this big. I wish I could do it like this woman. I wish I could have the confidence she has. But honestly, I don’t ever see that happening. I applaud this lady. Kudos to her for being herself and loving every minute of it.

JJ Yeah she does have a condition but I simply applaud her because instead of “hiding” her condition meaning keep cutting it off for other people to deem as normal she embraces it and that’s what I admire. Technically think about what “Normal” actually is. Because everyone has there own opinions on what they think is the norm in society and then there are the ones who are on the out skirts of that term and they get judged and picked on. But regardless even though she has a condition I still admire that because she lets it define her in a good way regardless of what anyone has to say about it.

I believe her smile, her eyes, her confidence and her authenticity makes her attractive. I have PCOS too, and yes, people, we get hairier than most women. Get over it. But the excess hair is often the least of our concern with that disease. It also strip us from our fertility, which is much more painful to take. I also comes with depression and anxiety, higher risks of heart diseases, diabetes and ovarian cancer, abnormal periods, acne, male-pattern baldness, etc. Sounds like fun, eh? And no, people, laser hair removal treatments are not always effective to treat hirsutism. It had absolutely no effect on my hair patches that are due to PCOS. Respect ;)

I think PCOS is different from person to person. I have it. I have extra body hair (like on my legs, pubic region, snail trail, peach fuzz on my upper lip) and thats because I have a higher level of testosterone. I am at a higher risk for diabetes, because PCOS screws with my insulin levels, so I have to be wary of sugar and carbs. My periods are normal though, and I was told by two different doctors that if I wanted to have a baby, I easily could. PCOS isn't a defined condition.

Ok, I'm not going to lie, the beard isn't attractive to me. The person however is very attractive because of her personality and I applaud her. She seems like a super sweet, fun person to be around and someone I would want to be friends with. Some of my friends and even some women thought I was crazy because the women I occasionally find attractive aren't the stereotypical super models. I find excessive make-up to be EXTREMELY unattractive and think little to no make-up is far better looking. While I like it when a woman is clean-shaven, some hair in certain areas don't bother me in the slightest, particularly armpit hair and leg hair. My friends don't know this about me but hairy legs and armpits just don't bother me. An extremely hairy bush, facial hair and chest would be off-putting however but I certainly wouldn't shun them or belittle them. A woman who grows out her beard to feel more comfortable in her own skin certainly has my admiration and support.

When I looked into electrolysis, they said legs and armpits and stuff was easy to remove permanently, however they couldn't guarantee cheekbone and upper lip hair removal would be permanent because it was hormone related hair growth (from my having PCOS). So maybe that is why...
