  • In Episode 2 of our Utah BDR series, we start mid-way through Section 2 in the mountains East of Moab. We'll make our way down from the mountains into the valley, through the Onion Creek narrows, past the Dewey Creek Suspension Bridge, traversing the desert trail all the way through the Book Cliffs north of I-70. Hang on, it's gonna be a beautiful ride!

    Nicely done! Peaceful beauty, well shown... and I like the occasional undertruck footage. Thanks!

      We split the trip into 3 weekends: the first was Monticello to Green River (we had already done section 1 a while back so we skipped it), second was Green River to Kamas, third was Kamas to the ID border. We live in central Utah

    What part of the year did you do this? I live in salt lake and I’m trying to plan this for next year. Don’t want to be down south when it’s to hot but also don’t want to get up north and have to deal with snow lol.

      So we split the BDR into 3 different weekend trips. The first trip we did basically sections 2 and half of 3 (Monticello to Green River) and that was May 20-21 of last year. The second trip was Green River to Kamas, Aug 19-20. Third trip was Kamas to the ID border, Oct 21-22. The middle trip was probably the best weather in general, didn't really run into issues. Sections 1 and 2 you really should do in mid July or later, especially on a year like this year. We had to skip the LaSal's and also the area south of Monticello at the end of Section 1 was cordoned off and unable to be driven. We ran into similar problems (though not as bad) in October on the last couple sections, it snowed on us quite a bit. We didn't miss anything because of it but it definitely added some sketchiness haha. If I could do it again (which I probably will) I would try to do the whole system in mid to late September or early October.

    Big fan of Utah. Do you think this route could be done in a 4wd hard-sided truck camper? Are there many height clearance issues? It looks pretty open.

    • @mountainlanders
      @mountainlanders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty open I’d say! My rig stands about 8’6” and I don’t remember being very worried about clearance. There are some timber spots where you’ll want to be extra aware of it but in general pretty open!

    Is it difficult to run a full sized pickup without “pinstriping” it on trails?

    • @mountainlanders
      @mountainlanders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. With a full size rig there are pros and cons for sure. I find the height to be more of a problem than the width, but my rig is also 20+ years old so I don’t worry much about pinstriping. I would worry a lot more if I had a new truck and was running it on the trails as I do take a fair amount of branches, etc on the sides

    Absolutely awesome video! But I really miss the product placement, the sponsorship banners, the endless chatter, and the lavish display of how much money you have! Maybe you could correct that in future videos so I can add you to my list of channels I USE TO WATCH😂! Keep up the good work!!

      After watching your channel last week, I told my wife she had to watch it. Half way through watching the first installment on the BDR she made me stop the video and told me that she wanted to subscribe to your channel also! Her only complaint..... the music and the beauty of what you filmed made her cry! Which meant I had to take her out for ice cream that night! Thanks, I think 🤔.
